IMHO the best of the BBC Ghost Stories for Christmas were MR James " Whistle and I'll Come to You" which was broadcast as an Omnibus programme I think and starred Michael Horden, and "The Signalmen" which I think was a Charles dickens story and starred Denholm Elliott. great stuff!
Thank you so much for uploading these. I remember when they first aired. I thought they were amazing and they sparked my love of James' ghost stories. I think it is a damned shame that the BBC only ever made one series, and that they've never put them out on DVD.
I remember my dad writing a letter to the 'Radio Times' demanding more of these amazing stories. We are both massive M.R James fans and Christopher Lee is simply amazing in this role. My heart broke when I saw how frail he was in the BAFTA's. No one can play M.R James as good. He even met him as as a child in an interview for Eton College which is an fantastic a fantastic coincidence. Long live Christopher Lee! One of the best actors of the 20th and 21st century!
@chillmax I've just looked it up, apparently four of these were made. The two you have already uploaded, along with readings of "The Ash Tree", which I remember from when it was transmitted, and "The Stalls of Barchester Cathedral".
Sounds like the document was a copy of Ryanair's t&c.
