  • NIRVANA!

    kurts fav bnd!1

hell yeah! nirvana is still no1 tho... mcr no2

  • @Adeebster To even say Nirvana is close to the Pixies is blasphemous, and to say MCR is close behind makes you deaf.

  • 1 all over the world

  • aww... wanted to see the whole thing

  • I saw the Deal sisters in Mtl in 2002... they rocked the house so hard, The sisters clearly had no love for one another, but between flicking each other off and spraying the fans with Buidweiser they gave a show like I have never seen before. I can only imagine what the PIxies would have been like live. The PIxies rule in so many ways it just doesn't even make sense.. how can one band be so weird, soulful, hard and fucking amazing all at once? Long live the Pixies. WOOooo!

  • It's 'the' Pixies; it's Pixies

  • just saw loudQUIETloud yesterday, awesome btw ..it´s like hmm uuhh ohhh

  • fucking amazing, thats all that needs to be said. :)

  • ce la vie

  • ce la vie

  • lol moron

  • i am a girl with no face and i've decided to kill you anyway

  • nice vid

  • Still to this day, my favourite opening to a documentary ever...

  • i like it when they're fat it shows that they're not into drugs

  • о пиксиз!!

  • PIXIES = SENSATIONAL. Paid double the ticket price to see them in Dublin last week. 19 years to the day since I saw them first. Quality like this is so rare . Death to the Pixies

  • IS!!!!!!

  • Awesome, so glad the world realized how important this band was/is.

  • These guys revolutioned alternative rock music. The are the coolest band ever!! None of their peers came close to them in the 80's and 90's. THey were as plain looking as ever, no one would ever accuse them of being posers and rocked their asses off...now that is very cool.

  • joey S is superb on lead

  • Oh yeah...Joey is one of my fav lead guitarists. He plays to suit the song without being a show off. I think his input in the studio diminished after Dolittle though.

  • This has to be without a doubt the most amazing band reuinion in HISTORY.

  • That IS a classic solo, Joe!

I definitely need to buy this DVD.

  • beginning gave me joyful goosebumps

  • Nirvana were always MTV's idea of alternative - Kurt was a beautiful soul ... it seems - and they could play and had their moments but I always found them to be an irritatingly melodramatic pop group - the Pixies were truly individual, unique, haunting, and catchy. There is really no comparison.

  • the best reunion of the 21st century. Pixies will last forever.

  • Forever Pixies. Always. Joey Santiago...VIVA LAS FILIPINAS!

  • i PRAY God for my favourite band to get together again !! my dream is to see them live in concert taking all over the world... love you guys with all my heart, you were and still are a very important part of my life... ( L )

  • THE MOST FUCKING GREAT BAND ON EARTH!!!

I would die for this music... WAHAAAA!!!!

  • could'nt av said it better meself

  • wow! I didn't know kim deal was the one that made the ooooooo sound! WAAAAH! I'M AMAZED!

  • i thought the same thing two but i was like six.

  • when i first heared the pixies i would never have thought frank black would be a fat guy

  • He wasn't fat when they recorded the first albums. Whatever, he's brilliant anyway, fat or not!

  • Fantastic version of this song. Just wish we got the whole thing. Pixies are fucking amazing.

  • if you love Nirvana, you'll probably love the pixies!

  • I never liked Nirvana, i felt grunge killed this music. If you like Neil Young then you will love the Pixies!!

  • Was that a young Seth Rogan at 0:46? Wouldn't surprise me...he's everywhere these days.

  • Pretty sure that's not Seth Rogen. Postive, actually.

  • I dont know, he is our generations Gary Busey!

  • No shit!

  • kim deale <3

  • how can you hate Kim Deal?? That's just wrong dude.

  • i wish i could have frank in my bed ,,,i love this man

  • the pixies are so fucking great, definately my biggest influence in my music. so great. but i kinda feel bad for them, i mean they were so influential but they didnt really get a chance to experience the fame they deserved.

  • Fame has nothing to do with it in there case. They were unique.

  • I feel bad for you.

  • Why? Just curious.

  • I am not into hallucinogens, just alcohol.

  • Good film, I thought it was sad in parts though.. the drummer seems like a troubled fellow

  • yeah, this movie was kind-of made to accent the bad tough parts of the pixies. they edited it to make it seem like there was a shitload of drama. but still, good film.

  • pixies

    fucking

    rule.

  • damn i cant remember how to play songs i wrote last year must have been hard to relearn songs they might not have played in like 15 years lol

  • Shows you what I know!

  • Here's a story for ya. I worked at The parker House Hotel in Bosgon in, 1983? My freind Tom works there 2 and knows I dig the local (Boston) scene. He says another co-worker is starting a band, but they don't have a name yet. So weeks later he comes back with the guy, Charlie, and introduces him. I him if his band has a name yet and the guy says "it's The Pixies" and i say "Hey man, you better drop that name fast cause it sucks. Makes you sound like a pussy". He says it's too late, gig next wk.

  • Too bad the Pixies formed in '86

    (rcknbkr403)

  • Like, I said, "1983?". Could have been '85 but no later. When I met C. Thompson, the band didn't even have a name yet. Bit I was done working at the Parker House Hotel in '85, so it has to be before then.

  • You rely too much on Wilkepedia. I was there, dude.

  • True story: 1998 F.B./Catholics play small gig in the South. I walk on stage after the show to talk to Frank. It was a bad encounter, partly my falt and his. 2003 he does a solo instore in Chicago. Has a meet and greet after. I mention that past time. He said he remembered that gig and remembered me. He apoligized, as did I. We hugged, gave me an autograph and I was out. True story.

  • Why was it bad? Would you like to share it with the community?

    Let it out...

  • GoogleTRUTHHRISINGnow: Frank Black was packing up gear after the stage. I went on stage to say to him that I'm glad I got the chance to see him. Before I could do so, he looked at me and said, "later man!" After my 3rd attempt he grabbed me by my shoulders, squeeze/shook me and said, "look later man!" I backed up and in oing so I stepped on his guitar stand, w/ guitar in place, almost tipping it over. He was really pissed by then.

  • Good Story. I don't meet my heroes for fear of doing something along those lines.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the group.

Anyone else have any Frank Black Stories they'd like to tell?

  • where is my mind?

  • the singer looks like KG now

  • i only learned this year that they had a reunion. hell, i only rly got into them this year. i read it on wikipedia and i was like "YEAH! THEY HAD A REUNION" then read a couple of lines under that it ended early 2008. quickest high to low ever

  • Same here!

I was soooooooo sad when I found out.

  • why disable the ratings? it'd get 5 stars easy.

  • everyone and their brother is influenced by the pixies. why? because they're THE BEST EVER

  • and because Kim has a nice rack!

  • they sounds better now, frank 's voice is better

  • I hate to agree, but you might be right :(. Those flourishes are really bugging me O.o...but i still love the Pixies.

  • Wow, I had forgotten that I had written that... I didn't realise my comment would be so rejected by the rest of the Pixies community!

  • his voice changed, its not as raw now. i dont think its as good as it was in his prime. like if u search here for Tame live. god its good

  • PIXIES EVER!!!!!!!!

  • ever what?

  • lawl

  • love the pixes love nirvana

  • Pixies

  • I know. Not even comparable, right?

  • from what you hear huh? That's a credible reference.

  • Good going artpiston, you got me! I don't really remember writing this comment too clearly, but I actually like the Pixies, so I don't know. I would have liked to see them, and I have seen the Breeders, they rocked! I've also seen Frank Black solo, and it was pretty cool. But the Built To Spill show I saw earlier tonight was definitely the shit!

  • porra, desde q comecei a ouvir estes gajos, começo a duvidar da posição q os nirvana ocupam na minha tabela pessoal

  • o gajo parece o coelho dos zen

  • The "Let me check the Ipoodoo" from Kim made me realize that the rumors about them forgeting how to play the old songs due to inactivity was true, hehe... (And I still love both Nirvana & the Pixies equally... THEY ARE DIFFERENT!).

  • enjoy nirvana, love them, i dont care. but hear me now, the pixies are far greater, not even comparable, stop thinking and listen.

  • I prefer Pixies over Nirvana anyday...just personal taste. A friend of my mine prefers Nirvana though (but still loves Pixies).

  • that cobain quote is a testament to how much influence the pixies had on some of the big rock bands in the early to mid 90s

  • There's no reason to debase Nirvana in light of Pixies (like that? I worked on it). Nirvana also produced great music. Lighten up, people!

  • I see what you did there

  • soup /b/ro

  • Complicated? Most pixies songs have more than two melodies- one for the verse, one for the chorus, like oh so many nirvana songs. Thats why songs like "something in the way" or "heart- shaped box" just bore me. the bass- lines do more than just copy the guitar line. not all pixies songs follow the same pattern. they are more than just quiet loud quiet loud all over again. i mean its a question of taste. i just dont like nirvana, to me its depressing and boring music.

  • To me the really depressing and boring thing is to have a band that good split after just 6 years & never reach the commercial success Nirvana achieved in much much less time (legacy & all). Btw... I love both Nirvana & The Pixies... and both are DIFFERENT!!!

  • plum what the fuck has that got to do with anything?

  • I wonder if Pixies songs are clearly more complicated than Nirvana songs, on the average. Maybe you´ve heard Nirvana songs a lot more often than Pixies songs.

I think you underrate Nirvana´s music.

  • @Zatzzo & fartjoke2000,

What´s your problem with Kurt Cobain? In my opinion both Nirvana and Pixies (as far as I know the music of the latter)were very good bands. Why call Cobain a ´dork´ or ´some tragic trash commodity´? Why so offensive?

  • A special mention should be made for the man responsible for opening the doors, Richard Jones. Being a glorified door stop must have driven a man with such an unjustified ego to the brink.

He used to claim to be the manager of the Beautiful South, until the real manager of the Beautiful South informed that he wasn't and threatened legal proceedings.

  • i hate the cobain quote at the beginning. you dont need that fucking kurt cobain dork talking about the pixies to "proof" they where an amazing band.

  • my thoughts exactly. whats more, FRANK'S THOUGHT'S EXACTLY, he says so in interviews. i mean must be a bummer to put all this effort into becoming one of the most singular, hard-to-pigeonhole bands in the entire fucking history of pop culture to be judged by what some tragic trash commodity says about you... mad world

  • I'm the dude in the close-up. Believe me or not, it's true

  • This looks so good, but I hear it's quite saddening :(

  • these guys are the explanation of all the music i like today. I got Doolittle when I was in 7th grade and theyve been my number one favorite band of all time ever since. I saw them in 2005 in DC. Long live

  • her sis did drugs not her

  • Kim and her identical twin, Kelley, both were abusing drugs/alcohol. Both went through detox.

  • he's such an eric cartman

  • Kim Deal does drugs.

  • who didn't or doesn't?

  • I think she's beautiful.

  • The Deal sisters were beautiful, but it's obvious that the drugs/alcohol took a toll.

  • it was charles and joeys who started it........they were college roommates. after finding david to drum they put an add in a paper "looking for bass play that likes husker du"..............but once they were together they became a band

  • Charles and Joe are the founding members. They put an ad in the paper for a female bass player, and Kim was the only one who responded. At that point the band still did not have a drummer. Kim's husband at the time was friends with Dave, so he gave Dave a call. The rest is history.

  • @Cruentus1 and don't forget, kim deal couldn't even play bass when she first joined, and she is one of the best bass players ever.

  • Joey!! represent!

    Filipino rocks

  • PIXIES!!!!! I wish I had had my senses together in 2004 so I could have witnessed this orgy of talent.

  • These vids are amazing, I saw them at Reading festival, that was a good night. Thanks for uploading, poss the best vids i have seen on you tube.

  • the Pixies are that rare case of two amazing pop musicians getting together despite really not liking one another. Kim is just as talented as Charles/Frank... i think their solo stuff is very good too but whatever.

  • i've got to disagree and put charles above kim in my list of top 2 pixies members.

kim's still great too, but i simply like charles more ;)

  • kim's a wreck, she so has to get it together.

  • Every1 knows its not Charles' band. If it wasnt for Kim he'd be shuveling muck some where in America. Kim rules my world!

  • Charles´ founded the band, quit them and reunioned them.

He wrote 90 % of the songs.

Again . who´s band was it?

I like Kim too - but...

  • Kim, Charles, Joey, David are great musicians. But if the last 20 years tought us one thing about the Pixies then this: none of the members could do alone what the band as a whole could do. Same goes for most of the greatest bands in history: the whole is more than each single part.

  • True.

  • yes

  • please,please upload the rest!!!

  • Where can I watch the whole thing? Please reply..looks brilliatn!

  • it's from the DVD loudQUIETloud. i'll try to add some more.

  • Very Interesting. I will have to look for the DVD

    Rocket

  • of it

  • uuh, upload the rest!

  • tired retread of past glories for the money, sad....

  • i would say the same thing but then they split well before they got to bask in the glory, and given their greatness i'll give them this one.

  • erm yeah that's exactly what black francis said when he was asked: "We're doing it for the money". Still the concert was worth double the ticket price.

  • jjj7477
