This was much more farfetched than american cartoons. Well at least to me. No, probably but, it was different indeed.

This was a nice cartoon. I liked the animation. It looks really nice. I like that bunny girl...err...or boy.

Kotenochkin was a genius! Obviously these were made for TV as opposed to the theatrical shorts typical of the series. The characters are slightly restyled and a bit off model...But they have a softer/cuter appearance. Pity they didn't make more like these episodes. These are much more gag-ridden, not unlike American stuff. Rumanova sorta' gives away her gender in this one with her oohs ans aaahs..Not "male" at all. I miss 'em all!

From the outset it was designed to be screened theatrically.

These shorts from 1981 were specifically made for TV.

If you note, Popanov wasn't doing the wolf's voice in these.

If you check YouTube you'll discover there were many public service films done for Soviet TV with the wolf and hare in various forms.

Chuburashka, he's the little teddy bear like creature that's also the mascot for Soyuzmultfilm. I forget the spelling but the crocodile's name is something like Ginya or along those lines. I have it around somewhere.

Well I was close. I only know it from it's pronunciation. As I recall Gena goes way back to the thirties with Soyuzmultfilm. I have an early short about hygiene that has him in it from the days when uncle Joe was running the nation.
