if i'm not mistaken, Mars died when its core stopped spinning and therefore the planet lost its magnetic field, causing the solar winds to blow away the atmosphere and surface water. very very tragic : (
I just wanted to comment on the ufo picture, was that picture taken in a time lapse photo by any chance? Say like a 3 second delay, if so, it would look like a long craft of some sort due to the amount of time the object was exposed on film or otherwise, just like stars do in a time lapse photo. The front of the object seems to have a bulge, and that could be the actual shape of the ufo, whatever it is. Thanks for the video.
Omg that is amazing. I loved how it showed the two moons on mars and earth from mars! That was pretty cool. The dust devils! Wow and the UFO. Awesome vid :-D
@fumfulapenguin Sometimes extreme dust storms on Mars disable communication systems, however, it did go above and beyond its expected functional period.... yes, RIP.
I was just curious . Mars seemed to have water a long time ago as seeing the enormous channels and valleys . What happened to all the surface water. I did notice polar ice caps ,Maybe all the H20 at those areas?
@ssl668 There is ongoing data collection/analysis generated each day from Mars by NASA's satellites or land rovers. A wealth of information can be obtained on their website.
Today, Mars thin atmosphere combined with extreme day/night temperatures doesn't provide ideal conditions for liquid water formation. I'm sure there are other factors as well.
Collisions between galaxies are a fairly common occurrence in the universe. Our Milky Way galaxy will crash into the Andromeda galaxy in a few billion years. Galaxies tangle together, kicking gas and dust all around. Often the battered galaxies are left with tails of material stripped off during the violence.
It's almost sad. Heres is a planet that appears to have had a very beautiful and diverse environment. So many wonderous structures and the scale of the peaks and valleys is beyond reason, yet now we have these rover videos showing just a ghost of what remains. Leaving only a faint few whisps of activity left as a reminder that we are never in control.
wow! makes me want to invest in Martian expeditions...I'd love to stand there, even if it was my last moment alive and look around and feel the silence.
respect to all scientists and engineers whove made the rovers. it's been 7 years and they are still operational. specially if u think about how hostile the mars environment really is
WOW awsome work, and props to NASA , and to C.theorist, fuck off! I bdare you insult the ones that make it possible....and the hard workand determination.....
Thank you to NASA and Maria Garci for posting this video, this is what youtube is all about!
Please don't insult the brilliant/intelligent minds that make it possible for us to see what, otherwise, we would never have known or imagined
When compared to the distances of other planets, our moon isn't that far away. The staged or 'fake' moon landing as many claim, would be pointless considering its close proximity and technological resources at that time.
-Our moon and Earth get struck by space objects at approximately the same rate - then why is it that our surface doesn't appear with craters as prominently as the moon?
first i want to say marciagarcia281 you are amazing! second, in the beginning o' the vid what camera or rover recorded the dust devils? and lastly, do you believe there is a forest or forests and/or single trees on mars?
"...new images from NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope are shedding light on the true structure of the Milky Way, revealing that it has just two major arms of stars instead of the four it was previously thought to possess."
"Our own sun might have once resided in a different arm. Since it was formed more than 4 billion years ago, it has traveled around the galaxy 16 times."
A great tour of the red planet. Those rovers are so cool and have given us so many pictures of another world. Its amazing. I cant wait to see what Phoenix finds when they start digging. Nice video!
Phoenix Spacecraft on Course for May 25 Mars Landing
"...NASA's Phoenix spacecraft is on track for its destination in the Martian arctic. Phoenix is equipped to study the history of the water now frozen into the site's permafrost, to check for carbon-containing chemicals that are essential ingredients for life, and to monitor polar-region weather on Mars from a surface perspective for the first time."
We are learning many things about Mars but this one is surprising me,I thought these weather conditions were only on Earth,it's incredible how these planets are so similar in many things.
"In the first method, they use telescopes to determine the asteroid's distance from the sun, the amount of sunlight it reflects, and the amount of heat it gives off. The amount of sunlight or heat reaching the earth depends on the size of the asteroid and its distance from the sun. Therefore, calculations involving distance and either light or heat yield the size of the asteroid."
"...a fourth method -- close-range observation of asteroids by space probes"
Does anyone else think that humans could easily (200 - 400 years in the future) live on mars, should we utilise global warming on mars to increase the temp to livable conditions.
Smash a few large ice commets into mars and we have lakes. and there is plenty of carbon dioxide for plants to convert to oxgen.
So i think (in my mind atleast) we can do it.
and no doubt we can make nitrgen so its not a pure oxygen atmosphere, becuase pure oxgen is bad yes :)
It sure would be a long and expensive voyage, granted you get there alive (our bodies would be heavily taxed - microgravity plays havoc on blood, immunity, bones, etc.)
Twisting direction from your topic, I would like NASA, the gov't & worldwide astronomers working more diligently on protecting mother Earth against potentially hazardous space objects (meteors, asteroids & comets). MariaGarcia281 4 years ago
Aye well aware of that, but 200 - 400 years in future god only knows (if he exists) what technologies we'll have to combat this effect on our bodies.
For now we can keep dreaming :)
vectorm1299 4 years ago
But at what price? Will the risks be worth the benefits... beginning to sound like a disease
MariaGarcia281 4 years ago
well we can only hope that we invent some Zero-G technologies that are worth the effort.
After all why bother at all if we can't imagion some sort of benefits.
