  • if i'm not mistaken, Mars died when its core stopped spinning and therefore the planet lost its magnetic field, causing the solar winds to blow away the atmosphere and surface water. very very tragic : (

  • omg theres a football stadium in a crater on mars!?

  • wthh theres air on marss?? some one explaint oo me how a dust devil is spinning????? blahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh im cornfusedd

  • Spirit and Opportunity was a great success story for NASA and the US. I've enjoyed their lives on Mars and all the great science that was done.

  • mars is definitly in my top 3 most beautiful planets in our solar system

    1. earth

    2. mars

    3. saturn

    just my opinion

  • great video. I wonder what happened to all the water and what created valles marineris.

  • Very nice collection of landscape pictures, and also quite informative texts.

    Thumbs up.

  • no way in hell would i wanna be the first man on mars id rather jus sit home an watch lol

  • я хочу верить.

    -

  • Nice

  • Cool video!

  • É O TAZZZZZZZZZ MARCIANO!!!

  • I just wanted to comment on the ufo picture, was that picture taken in a time lapse photo by any chance? Say like a 3 second delay, if so, it would look like a long craft of some sort due to the amount of time the object was exposed on film or otherwise, just like stars do in a time lapse photo. The front of the object seems to have a bulge, and that could be the actual shape of the ufo, whatever it is. Thanks for the video.

  • Great video. Thank you very much.

Its good to come across someone who can appreciate the wonders of mars without imagining ufos and alien cities

  • I enjoyed this video very much. I'm gona subscribe in hopes of seeing more.

  • mars is covered in vocanos, plus it has the bigest one in the solar system

  • It looks so dirty there.

  • PS, don't miss the first total lunar eclipse in two years! It will grace the sky the night of Monday, Dec. 20, 2010 (natures Christmas present).

  • Omg that is amazing. I loved how it showed the two moons on mars and earth from mars! That was pretty cool. The dust devils! Wow and the UFO. Awesome vid :-D

  • Who Give maintenance to that spirit for all these time?

  • chances that spirit will wake up is getting lower and lower

    RIP spirit

  • @fumfulapenguin Sometimes extreme dust storms on Mars disable communication systems, however, it did go above and beyond its expected functional period.... yes, RIP.

  • Good video...very interesting and well done.

  • how would you feel if you're in mars, sit down for a while and look to the earth and say "that's where i am from, from the most beautiful world"

  • gr8 vid!

  • wow! 2:40

  • cool man thxs nice pics

  • 0:48 why do the rocks appear as negative through the dust devil?

  • I was just curious . Mars seemed to have water a long time ago as seeing the enormous channels and valleys . What happened to all the surface water. I did notice polar ice caps ,Maybe all the H20 at those areas?

  • @ssl668 There is ongoing data collection/analysis generated each day from Mars by NASA's satellites or land rovers. A wealth of information can be obtained on their website.

Today, Mars thin atmosphere combined with extreme day/night temperatures doesn't provide ideal conditions for liquid water formation. I'm sure there are other factors as well.

  • @ssl668 The fauna on Mars died out 1 355 050 years ago , the inter core cooled . So it just dried up, it lost its ozone and all.

  • Source: NASA (06-17-2010)

Collisions between galaxies are a fairly common occurrence in the universe. Our Milky Way galaxy will crash into the Andromeda galaxy in a few billion years. Galaxies tangle together, kicking gas and dust all around. Often the battered galaxies are left with tails of material stripped off during the violence.

  • Wonderful!

Much information contained, revealed by pausing.

The atmosphere deceives such an earthly friendly appearance.

    Thank you for posting this.

  • wait this means somethings are equaly equal to earth.

  • Mars is a depressing place..

  • extremely cool video!

  • Fabulous! What a great collection. Though the pics go by a bit too quick to read all the info. 5 stars.

  • @ScriptWorker

The viewer has control over features to pause/replay video ;-)

  • @MariaGarcia281 haha i agree, maybe a bit technical for some people ( no offence script!) ..... peace and love 2 all :D

  • WOW this was the most interesting clip i ever seen of MARS! Excellent work my friend you won a subscription and a a firend :o) Gr8 work!

Seriously loved it! Now thats what Youtube is about! Learning and expression!

  • Interesting tidbits from NASA website:

Did you know that the rotation of the planet Mars has been found to be chaotic over the lifetime of the Solar System?

  • if mars had water it would be like hoth

but it always reminds me of tattooine

    :)

  • did you hear that the spirit in mars was stuck in the sand and it is being abandoned? O_o great video btw specially the dust storms!

  • It's almost sad. Heres is a planet that appears to have had a very beautiful and diverse environment. So many wonderous structures and the scale of the peaks and valleys is beyond reason, yet now we have these rover videos showing just a ghost of what remains. Leaving only a faint few whisps of activity left as a reminder that we are never in control.

  • cool stuff, add more of these videos, i wonder if they will try to bring people there in our life time.

  • wow! makes me want to invest in Martian expeditions...I'd love to stand there, even if it was my last moment alive and look around and feel the silence.

  • the CO2 will make your moment all too quick

My last days/months, I'd spend passing by each planet in our solar system ;-)

  • True...but what a sight. Image that one Mars movie they made back last century ago. LOL. Or was it early this century?

  • can any1 tell me what are dust devils?

  • simply put they are dust tornadoes

Very common here on Earth, too

Hot surfaces in desert-like conditions is where they can be found

  • respect to all scientists and engineers whove made the rovers. it's been 7 years and they are still operational. specially if u think about how hostile the mars environment really is

  • WOW awsome work, and props to NASA , and to C.theorist, fuck off! I bdare you insult the ones that make it possible....and the hard workand determination.....

Thank you to NASA and Maria Garci for posting this video, this is what youtube is all about!

    Thanks again from Canada peace....

  • amazing video thats what a call cience. i wish all ufo videos were like this one precise.

  • @TheGoldenBlackTiger cOULDENT AGREE MORE :)

  • Thanks for thios beautiful and informative video.

    5*

  • Re: Comments about fake solar system images

Please don't insult the brilliant/intelligent minds that make it possible for us to see what, otherwise, we would never have known or imagined

When compared to the distances of other planets, our moon isn't that far away. The staged or 'fake' moon landing as many claim, would be pointless considering its close proximity and technological resources at that time.

  • You should enable Ratings

    I would have 5*'d it...

  • yep me too!

  • Excellence how else can you describe this very interesting and educational video.

I especially like the way you do the comparisons ( the football stadium ).

I think a lot of people would like to see one about the moon and its land marks.

I now i would APPLAUSE for you

  • @2:54 0.o is that tru?? Cant belive it very huge

  • i like how the video just denounces the face as being just a "mesa"

  • nothing more, nothing less (thanks, solothyrn)

*Everyone else: please, no video responses or comments about humanoids, UFO's, or aliens on Mars

  • very nice vid and atmospheric music

  • beautiful!

  • really well made, enjoyed it, thanks very much

  • gr8 vid!!!

  • interesting video. what's the name of the music used?

  • At 3:38, looks like stream deposits?

  • Holy moley!!

anyone checked out Google Earth on mars!!!?

I made a visit to Olympus Mons the tallest volcano in solar system.

    ITS HUGE!!!

  • just did it.. google mars is wonderful

  • nice vid, who is the band?

  • pretty interesting. I had no idea there was footage of actual Martian atmospheric activity from ground level

  • nice vid

  • Extremely informative Five stars

  • wow... that was an awsome video!

  • Incredible!Thanks for this:)

  • Draco clouds....5000000* stars

  • five stars!

  • Mille grazie!

  • I wish I could do some geology work on Mars. It would be so awesome! Thanks a lot for the incredible video!

  • My newest upload:

    Meteors Target Earth

-Our moon and Earth get struck by space objects at approximately the same rate - then why is it that our surface doesn't appear with craters as prominently as the moon?

    See video

  • 5stars!! great video !!

  • first i want to say marciagarcia281 you are amazing! second, in the beginning o' the vid what camera or rover recorded the dust devils? and lastly, do you believe there is a forest or forests and/or single trees on mars?

  • Land rovers caught dust devils in action

Mars died a long time ago (no volcanic activity) thus any form of life would be virtually nonexistent

  • moving dust devils kinda creepy me out...No reason...It's look scary

  • nice photo's! where did you find these???

  • NASA NEWS RELEASE

Two of the Milky Way's Spiral Arms Go Missing

"...new images from NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope are shedding light on the true structure of the Milky Way, revealing that it has just two major arms of stars instead of the four it was previously thought to possess."

"Our own sun might have once resided in a different arm. Since it was formed more than 4 billion years ago, it has traveled around the galaxy 16 times."

Find out more at NASA website

  • A great tour of the red planet. Those rovers are so cool and have given us so many pictures of another world. Its amazing. I cant wait to see what Phoenix finds when they start digging. Nice video!

  • NASA STATUS REPORT

Phoenix Spacecraft on Course for May 25 Mars Landing

"...NASA's Phoenix spacecraft is on track for its destination in the Martian arctic. Phoenix is equipped to study the history of the water now frozen into the site's permafrost, to check for carbon-containing chemicals that are essential ingredients for life, and to monitor polar-region weather on Mars from a surface perspective for the first time."

Find out more on NASA website

  • Wow,that was a very cool and interesting tour on mars...Thank you MariaGarcia281.

  • Are those Dust Devil's really from Mars?

    That's so cool!

  • Yes - you can also look them up on NASA website

  • same

  • valles marineris is probably so amazing i was just at the grand canyon and i was just amazed i would probably shit my pants if i saw the vm

  • We are learning many things about Mars but this one is surprising me,I thought these weather conditions were only on Earth,it's incredible how these planets are so similar in many things.

  • Great video

  • Measuring asteroids (NASA)

"In the first method, they use telescopes to determine the asteroid's distance from the sun, the amount of sunlight it reflects, and the amount of heat it gives off. The amount of sunlight or heat reaching the earth depends on the size of the asteroid and its distance from the sun. Therefore, calculations involving distance and either light or heat yield the size of the asteroid."

"...a fourth method -- close-range observation of asteroids by space probes"

  • Does anyone else think that humans could easily (200 - 400 years in the future) live on mars, should we utilise global warming on mars to increase the temp to livable conditions.

Smash a few large ice commets into mars and we have lakes. and there is plenty of carbon dioxide for plants to convert to oxgen.

So i think (in my mind atleast) we can do it.

and no doubt we can make nitrgen so its not a pure oxygen atmosphere, becuase pure oxgen is bad yes :)

  • It sure would be a long and expensive voyage, granted you get there alive (our bodies would be heavily taxed - microgravity plays havoc on blood, immunity, bones, etc.)

  • Aye well aware of that, but 200 - 400 years in future god only knows (if he exists) what technologies we'll have to combat this effect on our bodies.

For now we can keep dreaming :)

  • But at what price? Will the risks be worth the benefits... beginning to sound like a disease

  • well we can only hope that we invent some Zero-G technologies that are worth the effort.

After all why bother at all if we can't imagion some sort of benefits.

  • Twisting direction from your topic, I would like NASA, the gov't & worldwide astronomers working more diligently on protecting mother Earth against potentially hazardous space objects (meteors, asteroids & comets). More and more Near Earth Objects are being discovered at a rate I'm not too comfortable with!

  • Hey if they don't wipe us all out, we'll make sure we do.

It seems to be in our nature to destroy our selves.

  • NASA NEWS RELEASE:

Asteroid to Make Rare Close Flyby of Earth January 29

Scientists are monitoring the orbit of asteroid 2007 TU24. The asteroid, believed to be between 150 meters (500 feet) and 610 meters (2,000 feet) in size, is expected to fly past Earth on Jan. 29, with its closest distance being about 537,500 kilometers (334,000 miles) at 12:33 a.m. Pacific time (3:33 a.m. Eastern time). It should be observable that night by amateur astronomers with modest-sized telescopes

  • wow nice vid!!

  • Wonderful! I really enjoyed this.

  • :-)

  • This is definetly a video for my favorites^^

So much information and amazing pictures of Mars!

    5 Stars!*****

  • I just compiled it. The real credit goes to NASA - thanks either way!

  • five stars

  • very much appreciated :)

  • The Sun looks so small out at about what? ~2 AU. The moons look pretty cool at night too.

  • I thought it still looked big considering Mars is farther from the Sun than we are

    thx for viewing ;-)

  • wow,i`ll give it 100/100 this is soo great but i wonder does anyone had a picture of dust devils so that i know what it looks like..

  • they were shown at beginning of vid

  • Nice job, that was really cool. I never knew anything about mars, really.

  • ooooooooo00000000000000oooooooooo0000000hhhh!!!! kewl!!

    5/5!!!!

  • ty! i wonder what it sounds like when a dust-devil passes by like that or even a small meteorite.

  • hey, that's a good question! Since the atmosphere is so thin, I'm pretty sure things sound different there (comparing to Earth)

  • Anther pretty cool vid, I've always loved space :P

  • me too! My head automatically locks towards the skies at night

Thx for the 5 stars :)

  • lol welcome :P
