@gaurangactuary If you are a charvaka, that is another religion. Actually the problem is with the word Hinduism. It is a British name given to the hodge podge of different views in India. If by Hindu you mean an India, then yes an Indian can be an atheist. So you really have to define what is a Hindu before you claim to be an atheist Hindu. By the way Vedas and Mahabharata have clear passages about killing atheists. Mahabharata even records how a Charvaka was killed by the Brahmins.

"pitu" - dries up, "madarchya" - towards me.
"vacho" - with skill, with ease.
"yahas" - power/water, "krsna" - black, "garbha" - womb. so this is something that is black with water in her womb.

Those slokas tells about the duty of King. Such as ur first slokas 1:176:4 - The king should punish the lazy people like the learned who showers happiness on everyone, similarly king and everyone should try to give pleasure to others at their level best.

The point of my comment is that the vedas teach certain life lessons through stories. Therefore, when you quote an individual hymn, it is not something that is to interpreted as a standalone verse. There is a story around it and that is context.

@islamhinduism I do not agree. If a text is telling a story, single verses cannot be interpreted independently of other verses. I have not memorized the vedas so I do not know exactly what comes before the verses quoted. I will search and reply as soon as I find them. However, my point is that it is important to see the story as a whole.

@islamhinduism Your interpretations are analogous to talking about the story of the race between the hare and the tortoise and then saying only that the tortoise won. This may be interpreted by someone as "A tortoise runs faster than the hare" which is obviously untrue.
I believe that Hinduism and Islam both do not preach violence. Violent acts are committed by people for personal gain, and they interpret the religious teachings out of context only to justify their acts.

Firstly I must say this was enlightening, ok I dont know anything about vedas but I did learn sanskrit words from my grandfather who was fluent. Your 1:101:1 was best of course, so i did a little research. Here are some root words for you: "Par" - other/ O "Mandin" - praised. so this is O praised one
"pitu" - dries up, "madarchya" - towards me.
"vacho" - with skill, with ease.
"yahas" - power/water, "krsna" - black, "garbha" - womb. so this is something that is black with water in her womb.

@islamhinduism I'll give you one such example. A Pakistani muslim scholar politician, Munawar Hassan, says a woman should not report Rape if she has not 4 muslim male witnesses. If she does so then the rape victim should be punished for illegal sex. He literally quoted holy Quran. And the journalist how protested such statement was told by him that he will get fatwa for talking against Quran. Don't you think people will use this against islam?
