If McCain wins the election the only benefit resulting for Europe is to further stop the brain drain to the US and maybe even attract more American scientists to our laboratories. Voters in the Bible Belt may help us achieve more scientific breakthroughs.
Nevertheless I hope Barack Obama will win the election, because I am terrified by the possibility of President Palin.

Problems with Barack Obama: Taxes: The Tax Policy Center noted that if Obama carried through his ideas, which is not included in his official plan, "the proposal could raise effective tax rates on labor income for high earners above 52 percent (and more than 55 percent for residents of states with high income taxes such as California)." When Obama talks up his plan to send a $500 to $1,000 "rebate" to American taxpayers, he is talking welfare.
Economists like 2008 Nobel winner Paul Krugman? Whose article a month ago today calls McCain "frightening" in terms of economic policy and advisors? Is that who you are thinking of?
McCain is not offering anything drastic. Why is it frightening?
Obama frightens me much more. Especially his judgment when it comes to assembling team of advisers or picking friends and mentors. Raising taxes while economy is hurting... Is this what Paul Krugman advocating too?
"...his chief mentor on economics is Phil Gramm, the arch-deregulator, who took special care in his Senate days to prevent oversight of financial derivatives — the instruments that sank Lehman and A.I.G., and brought the credit markets to the edge of collapse."
"Then Mr. Paulson released his plan, and Mr. McCain weighed vehemently into the debate. But he admitted, several days after the Paulson plan was released, that he hadnt actually read the plan, which was only three pages long."
yeah there are hundrets 309 fur the USA without literature, economics and peace ~ 250. And there are many people included who come from other countrys soo i would say 76 (Number taken from another article)is a huge Number of them. lets further say 50% don't bother voting at all. So over 60% of your voting Nobelprice winners are actively endorsing Obama.
Oh and besides why not stopping feeding them? I would welcome him and the others here in Germany.

have to disagree I do not see obama being better fit to be prez than mccain. I do not believe in socialism or bigger government to take over healthcare. I do not think obama tax plan is a good idea. I'm pro-abortion, but I do not believe that a child who survives late term abortion should be denied medical care. you can not just let a child die if they survive an abortion attempt. obama morals are twisted! you do not let a child just die. that is sick.
Obama only voted to deny medical care to children who survive late-term abortions because he knew there was existing legislation that supported such care. He voted against it because it was redundant. Doctors in his state, who have taken the hippocratic oath, supported Obama's position.
Additionally, Obama is not a socialist; Obama believes in progressive income tax, just like McCain himself does. Vote any way you want, but you should know the facts.

obama is morally wrong for denying medical care to children who survive late-term abortions. i do not care what was attached to the bill. also if there were good existing legislation they would not have brought this one to the table. also, we already have progressive income tax. obama wants socialism and more welfare. he is going to put america into bigger debt unlike mccain who says he will balance the budget.
I cant stop laughing. Obama will save you 10 billion dollars a month for gradually leaving Iraq. Republicans have always been the biggest budget deficit drivers in US history. Look at the policy of Reagan, Bush Senior and the development of your budget deficit. Thank God Bill Clinton reduced it before the Master of Disaster, Bush Junior, took over and drove it to the maximum.
After eight years of Pres. Bush and Vice Pres. Cheney, I'm ready for sound leadership in the White House, once more. This moment demands nothing less. And, if we miss this opportunity, we might not have any more chances left to save the country.
Register now, if you haven't already. Use early voting if you can. And, volunteer for and contribute to the campaign during these final days.
A refreshing point of view during a time of personal attacks from the right that threaten to drag the election into the gutter along with the economy.

These people also support Obama: Raila Odinga Bill Ayers Jeremiah Wright Jim Johnson Franklin Raines 4 out of 5 hags from The View Terrorists Welfare Queens Illegal Immigrants Dictators Osama Bin Laden
Really? Terrorists? Bin Laden? I appreciate your cynicism in these times, but are you really going to cast your vote based on bumper stickers and fear mongering? This kind of silliness is what got us to this place. There are plenty of reasons for people to support John McCain, but this kind of garbage is the problem, not the solution.

There are a lot of smart people supporting John McCain. Sure, none of them were Nobel winners this year, but just because you get to make the point that smart people like Obama doesn't mean that there aren't any dumb or evil people supporting him. I'm discrediting your notion that only smart people favor the guy.
Isn't Ayers a terrorist? I mean, he hasn't repented. What's to stop him in the future? OBL was tongue and cheek. Who knows what he wants. If he wanted McCain, he should strike now!
Sure. I don't think anyone is making the argument that only smart people support Obama. However, it is undeniable that a large group of extraordinary scientists supporting one candidate over the other gives one pause to consider why it is so lopsided. I sincerely hope that scientists that support McCain upload videos and make their case. Keeping it civil and focused on the issues would be a welcome change from name calling and empty rhetoric and that is the point of this project.
Is it not true that France is currently leading the world in the sciences and engineering? I'm not French, but, it is amazing how that small country has such a brain trust to produce all that it does.
Congrats Prof. Chalfi on winning the Prize (big fan of GFP); as a graduate student I try to talk with a lot of my peers about Barack Obama's proposals for increasing support for the NSF/NIH/etc. Thank you for making this video!

There are hundreds if not thousands of Nobel laureates.
Are all of them voting for Obama? My bet Economists are voting against.
"Chief Technology Officer". What? One more bureaucrat to feed? No thanks.
"I am scientist and I am voting for Barrak Obama" - "You, idiots, better follow for I am a scientist".
Last statement killed whole statement for me and put good doctor's judgment in doubt all together.
