Do some research and stop just joining the band wagon. Never before in History has an Admin. been so coddled by the media. These people haven't a clue how to meet a budget of a small bus let alone run the country. They are pissing $ away makg Bush look like a conservative. Pathetic! Good speech, as long as we stop using Diebold voting machines, I am in total agreement with having pride in our process of fair and accurate vote counting. But, please, lose the easily hackable Diebold shit on the moon.
This is not the land of the free, and hasn't been for several decades. I'm not saying I'm not happy to be an American, but I am pissed that we as citizens allow our government to do the crap it does (Illegal wire tapping, holding prisoners without cause indefinitely, torture!!, over spending, borrowing trillions of dollars from the last large COMMUNIST country,). China owns a huge number of American law firms and "Our" Banks. WTF is up with that?
(By the way if you are a republican and think this is all Obama??? WRONG. Both parties are responsible! But Bush mostly because of his made up War.) It's time to protest these things and get back to where we should be... the land of the free, the land of the brave... not the land of the lemmings and the land of the apathetic.
I agree with you on most issues. Except for China as a commie country.
It's higly capitalistic. Yet they hang onto dictatorship banana republic policies. Suppressing free speech, pushing ppl around like the old high school bully.
Give me a chinese politician for an interview, and I would eat the bastard rrwa not giving a hoot whether he'd "lose face" or not.
Be thankful for the likes of Al Franken and Jesse Ventura and Alan Grayson. You need more like them. Now you need a new Dr. Gonzo...
Yes I do think it's a mess... and single payer health care does not have a "gold plan" for those in office. As far as a country that has "equal freedom and opportunity." France, Germany, Spain, Finland, UK, and more... don't think for a second that the US is the only place with freedom and choice. As a matter of fact the US has much less than many other countries. We are ranked 37th on the list for health care, France is #1. We have a higher infant mortality than Cuba for Christ sake!
The US has driven up the global standard of living over the last 200 years - the other countries you mention have seen very little growth or wealth creation among their population.
Rich people and profits aren't evil - they are a necessary part of capitalism. Wealth creation requires risk taking. The middle class has lost it's guts and no longer wants to take any risk - they want the gov't to just provide the rewards. Nobody takes any personal responsibility.
And there is the pat response... "You are welcome to leave" Whatever...
The "wealth growth" you mention is inflated... i.e. the Tech bubble, the housing bubble, Bank fraud, Government bailouts with no accountability (republicans) Gov bailouts with accountability Obama. (which was forced on him because of the lack of accountability by the Bush admin.) If you think we don't live in a social system... look at how much of your tax dollars go toward broken corporations.
Air America failed because liberals don't seem to listen to talk radio, Ive read Al Frankin's books, hes a smart guy but I didn't listen to his show at all.
Minnesotans are F'd up. First they elect Jesse Ventura and now this clown.
Now Democrats have no excuses, they control everything. No Bush to blame. No Republicans to blame. Only themselves to blame when things go wrong. And believe me, plenty will go wrong.
America is already fucked. Things right now are bad, but they will get even uglier, and it's already started.
The democrats are going to do to America what they have done to California. They are going to bankrupt the United States into the bottom of the ocean.
Exactly what Minnesota needed! A guy that will never be taken seriously by the majority of Congress... He is going to be the muttered joke for the rest of his term. Franken is just one more arrow in Obama's quiver of control. Scary!!
What I'm talking about are the checks & balances... With one party running the whole show then they have the power to do whatever they want without objection. Al Franken? Come on!!!! Really? There are actually people out there that think this guy was the better choice? I just don't get it anymore. Dem or Rep I guess really just doesn't matter to me anymore, but how about someone with experience and knowledge. Not Stuart frickin Smalley for Christ's sake.
It was still a Democratic congress in 04' ? I just think that everyone has lost their mind on both sides and have completely lost sight of what their job really is, and that is to do what is best for the citizens of THIS country. Giving one side or the other too much power puts us where we have gotten within the last 6 months. Don't tell me Bush did it because Obama has put us further in debt in 6 months than Bush did in 8 years. That is a FACT! I
Wow. The state that elected Jesse "The Body" Ventura for governor strikes again. You're almost as star struck as California. Let's get Hollywood out of our government.
Harry Reid fucking blows and a lot of the Democratic Party is made up of secret Republicans so we won't be able to get anything done under a super majority.
Oh well maybe in the next economic clusterfuck we'll have some actual liberals in power.
And there you have it the liberals have taken over. Go right on doing what you want ok because someday the majority of the people will find out what you realy are. Oh, and it can't be blamed on Bush anymore. Like the liberals want everyone to think that it was done by the Republicans. The blame game is so easy for you just let someone else take the blame.
@pwnurnoobazz Im just pointing out your hypocrisy. You say its not intellectual to vote for Franken because he's a comedian, yet you probably love Reagan, who was an actor when he ran for governor, does that sound intellectual. And Franken is extremely smart and intellectual, hes my favorite senator.
@dhahranksa Actually no because Reagan was a big government pusher who betrayed his small government principles, though both are intelligent men that doesn't always mean its a good thing to vote for them since they can betray their promises.
Wow big deal a Harvard grad. This guy is a fony he is a joke. And not funny by the way. Oh, yea and you liberals are still blaming the Bush administration. Well that is running thin. So all of you liberals here can have your fun with this Al Frankin. Because he is a pinhead.
Al is a Harvard grad and a math whiz. He is a smart guy and this victory is well deserved, because he's been running for almost 2.5 years. He's playing down the 60th senator bit because he knows Harry Reid is a spineless leader who said yesterday that 60 doesn't mean much. Best wishes Al.
I can't even get health insurance but does that mean I want the government to get their grubbing hands in the act? No.
I'm a veteran yet I don't go near a VA hospital. I also worked in an Army hospital and saw way too many "accidental" deaths from routine surgeries. If you want good health care you have to pay for it!
Nice try Thopter - how many "civ" hospitals have you worked in? The CDC issued a report last year projecting 96,000 American deaths from one single cause - hospital-acquired infection. That doesn't include mis-diagnosis, wrong medication, surgical errors - just simple infections, which the CDC states are mostly preventable. If these infections are so preventable, why do they happen? Because in our wonderful profit-at-all-costs system - it's cheaper to let people die than to clean properly.
YOUR country? No, socialist Sweden is more like your country. Your people brought all that suicidal liberal shit over with you. Obama is doing more damage to this country in 6 months than stupid ol' Dubya could do in a lifetime.
gov bush bankrupt this country and his sidekick dick and the cult in republickass party 61 million people vote those extremist rightwingers out .good bye stop your fucking cryin grow up you win and lose .
Two words, repukelickins: SUPER MAJORITY....If you don't like it, kill yourselves, or move out of MY country.
The only think 'center-right' in this country in the conservative bullshit regurgitation that the AMERICAN voters wiped off the fucking face of the political map November 04, 08.
How can you push obama's agenda through and only think about what the Minnesotans want... is that cause you've already determined what obama wants is what they will get.
Obama's the Antichrist announced by the IL Lottery
I've gotten death threats for spreading this on Internet from aka heartsfortibet aka haltmusic aka LetsNotBeL7 (from Freising town, near Munich, Germany).
So you wouldn;t be mad at Barry if he enacted Sharia law in the US and brought us back to the 14th century? Condoned the beating of women and kiiling of those who rejected his religion?
Nahhh, how could you be mad...after all, he "is only practicing the religion that was forced on her ancestors .."
LMFAO! You cons are so ignorant. Obama actually lowered taxes this year more than Bush did in his 1st 3. Not to mention you conservative messiah Reagan also spent us out of a recession. So did Bush. BTW-we're cleaning up YOUR mess! Your failed conservative policies caused this financial disaster, you don't have any right to whine about how its cleaned up! Your kind are IRRELEVANT! Deal with it!
As a Democrat I agree. If 72% of Americans want a federal healthcare program and if the democrats do not now deliver we will vote them out of office. However we will vote for better Democrats as we all know that the Republicans could care less what the American people want and will always fight against Universal Healthcare.
almost all of my republican friends are very caring people but they also know paying for heathcare could possilbly break the country. I see the media myth that repubs dont care got you
The reality is that most of the individual Republicans I know are fine and caring people. It is the Republican politicians who could not care less what the people of America want. I believe that the lack of universal healthcare will eventually bankrupt our country. I say this as a person who worked and paid taxes for over 20 years and ended up disabled by chronic medical problems and a lack of insurance. You now will pay all my medicare, disability, food stamps. I wish it were not so.
Gee larry - how could you have possibly have gotten the idea we don't think Republicans care - they're very caring people. They care more about a lump of fetal tissue than a bombed out women's clinic. They care more about KBR's stock rating than electrocuted soldiers. They care more about oil in Iraq than any real anti-terrorist action. They care more about pharmaceutical companies than the people who need the medication. They care more about Wall Street than Main Street.
Gee Meathead - "how could you have possibly have gotten the idea we don't think Liberal assmonkeys care - they're very caring people. They care more about a lump of fetal tissue than a bombed out woman's clinic. They care more about KBR's stock rating than electrocuted soldiers. They care more about oil in Iraq than any real anti-terrorist action. They care more about pharmaceutical companies than the people who need the medication. They care more about Wall Street than Main Street." WTF retard
What's the embarrassment? That Coleman took so fuckin long to give up? Or that Minnesota hasn't had representation in the Senate for the past 8 months?
Ummm ALL of those things are the fault of Minnestotans. My orginal point. Hey it's your state. Have at it. Maybe you can be first to go bankrupt and experience double digit inflation. Enjoy!
Nobody, but nobody should ever take Stuart seriously. But it's good that dems have this super majority now as everything, and I mean every single thing will be blamed on them. 4 and OUT... Thank GOD!
You think Franken is useless how the previous president? How about Palin? Bachmann? They are either bat shit crazy or half wits and still got in office. At least this guy will be able to read a prompter and won't spout out biblical verses every time there's a screw up or wants to justify criminal actions or personal failings.
By 2012 there will be about 17 republicans left. We should put aside some money to create a reserve, in one of the Dakotas, where the remaining republicans can live out their lives in peace (and bitter frustration). Anybody remember the Whigs? :)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Is that his Wife? My god she is ugly. Al Franken is an International Disgrace. Minnesota should be kicked out of the USA for electing him. What an embarassment!!!
What can I say; I learned it from the Democrats the past 8 years. I had to listen to them disparage everything about Republicans or their families. Just giving it right back to you.
What happend to treat others how you would want to be treated? I am treating Demis the way they treated me so this is exactly how they want to be treated.
2 wrongs make a war!!! Why would I turn the other cheek?
You must not have listened to what the demis said about Barbara Bush.
Hahahaha. Republicans are so disparaging and evil constantly, the only way you could think Democrats are worse (or even "just as bad") is if you literally care blind, deaf, and mentally handicapped.
You are living in a fantasy world if you think Democrats are worse than Republicans.
Absolutely, Demoncrats are worse than Republicans. It isn't an opinion it is a FACT. Democrats are always in support of criminals. You are too young to even comment on things of this nature. Grow up and get an education.
You always can spot a Republican moron because they believe their crusty little nose-picked opinions are facts. It's the revealing moronism that makes a Republican.
You can spot a Democrat by the odor. They leech shit. Everything they touch is shit. You give them control of California and they'll turn it to shit. Now look, they got control of America and it's turned to shit.
Now they can enjoy and thick sweltering beef rod of Franken shit sandwiches.
Actually, its you whiny republicans who are all about feelings. Typically is anger, rage, fear and hatred. Substance? How about you cons get an agenda or a platform before you whine again, mmmmkay?
Yeah whatever, I have had to listen to the Democrat's Anger, Rage, and Hate the last 8 years. Y'all whined and cried over both elections and made outrageous claims that Bush Stole the Election.
NObama's approval ratings on his policies are plummeting. Lets see if he can get re-elected.
Actually, Obama's Gallup approvals today are 63% and rising. In a recent Wall St Journal poll, the GOP has 25% approval and only 22% of Americans call themselves republican! Your lame ass party is DEAD!
That's not the approval rating of his Policies. The press has said there is a disconnect. He has a high personal approval rating but the rating on his policies is slipping into the low 50's.
Write me back once the effects of his policies effect the economy and inflation goes through the roof. Let's see what happens in the next 3 years.
No, actually that once great party has been dead for about six years. That disgusting sound you keep hearing is just the gas escaping from the rotting corpse.
Hahaha. First of all, you don't know how old I am. Secondly, you don't know my level of education. Thirdly, it's obvious you don't actually have any argument, you just want to troll and slander (the only thing Republicans can do).
Either way, how do Democrats "support" criminals? And, even if they do (which they don't), Republicans actually ARE criminals.
First of all, your youtube profile says you are 26.
Second, I can tell by what you support that whatever education level you acheived is irrelevant because you are a complete idiot.
Third, The Democrats have always supported prisoners rights, anti-death penalty, lighter sentencing etc.... Look at Blogavich, William Jefferson, the entire city council of Detroit. Those are solid examples of the criminal activity of Democrats. Do I need to go further?
Franken initially lost fella. He didn't have the votes and thus had to go to the courts to invent some. I take some solace in this farce though. With the 60 vote majority now, the Democrats OWN this fiscal disaster that they're creating. Real "change" is coming in '10.
Actually, Franken never lost. On election night, the absentee ballots were not counted. Coleman had a small lead before the absentee ballots were counted, which was eviscerated when the total votes were counted. Oh, and come 2010, Democrats will be picking up an additional 4 to 5 Senate seats and will also be retaining control of the House, too. Repukes need to gain 78 seats to take back the House. Never going to happen. Ditto for the Senate. PERMANENT DEMOCRATIC MAJORITY!!!
Yep and you and your party OWN this mess now. Of course, I'm sure you'll probably still find some way of blaming Bush for this fiasco of a fiscal nightmare that your lib friends in Washington are pulling right now. And by the way, the reason the Dems are gaining seats is because they have the majority of the complete f'n idiots in this country on their side. Enjoy Stuart Smalley.
Yep, and up until January, George Bush was the president. And for six of his eight years, Republicans ramrodded legislation through Congress that destroyed the country for decades to come. It will take two presidents to right this ship. So yes, I will forever blame George Bush for ruining my country. Oh, and for your information, it took FDR 8 years to fix the disaster that Herbert Hoover and two other Republicans left him. Bush left us worse than the Great Depression did.
God Almighty! Where the hell do you come up with this nonsense? Thanks for the leftist BS history lesson. I really didn't need your version though, I've studied the real thing plenty. Please tell me just what Republican legislation you're referring to that did all this damage. You ever heard of Barney Frank's small role in the housing mess? And for YOUR information, FDR's gov't expansion policies prolonged the depression. Be more specific if you want to have a credible argument.
Oh boy, you left yourself WIDE OPEN for a major league bitchslap. You see, Barney Frank, who was my congressman when I lived in Massachusetts, was one of only 34 members of Congress to vote against the Gramm Leach Bliey Act, which is what allowed for the deregulation of the banking industry. Barney Frank played ABSOLUTELY NO ROLE WHATSOEVER in the housing collapse. When Democrats took control of Congress in 2007, it was a law authored by Barney Frank that exposed Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac!!!
Frank voted AGAINST the 2005 Federal Housing Reform Act that would have increased regulation of Fannie & Freddie. There's a lot of blame to go around. To sit there and say the he had ABSOLUTELY NO ROLE WHATSOEVER is asinine. Congress played a huge role and Frank is the leading member of the most powerful financial committee. That's like saying the CFO of Enron had no idea what was going on after the collapse.
Bnheman, the only suitable response to your post about Barney Frank voting against the 2005 Federal Housing Reform Act is BULLSHIT!!!!!! First of all, that was a Senate bill, Barney Frank is a member of the House. Second, considering the bill never saw a committee hearing because then Senate Banking Committee chairman Richard Shelby, a Republican, opposed it and never allowed debate on said bill. I know the bill, it was authored by Chuck Hagel. Busted again. I'd shut up if I were you.
2003 - Frank and other Dems block H.R. 2575, which would have increased regulation and higher capital requirements for Fannie & Freddie. "Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac do very good work, and they are not endangering the fiscal health of this country" - your boy Barney.
2005 - H.R. 1461 FEDERAL HOUSING FINANCE REFORM ACT. Frank votes NO. The SENATE VERSION is blocked by the help of another culprit, one Chris Dodd. I suppose you're ready to defend him now too, huh? Let's hear it.
One word: BULLSHIT. If you knew ANYTHING about politics, which you do not, you would know that in the House of Representatives, legislation is voted up or down. No one legislator can block House bills. In the Senate, that is a different story. And Richard Shelby, who chaired the Senate Banking Committee when the Republicans were in control, did just that. As chairman, he denied debate on the bill you are talking about. Do your homework. In 2003, Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae were solvent.
You're kidding me, right? Why don't you debate on the central issues and stop cherry-picking with semantics? I understand that a single congressman can't singlehandedly block a bill, but Frank and the House Dems voted against the passage of the bill. And yeah, I guess as long as the bubble never burst, the GSEs would remain solvent. Too bad it was inevitable. Frank defended Fannie and Freddie's increasingly risky loans and shit capital position to the very end. Shelby man? Really?
I realize you're a stupid douchebag but REALLY??? The bill passed the House and was sent to the Senate and NEVER saw a hearing. It passed the House. It recieved the support of virtually every Republican in the House, which made the Democrats and Frank irrelevant to this discussion. It never saw a hearing in the Senate because Richard Shelby opposed it and used his power as chairman to prevent any further discussion of the bill. Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae were exposed because of Frank's bill
This is what happens when you get your information from Rush Limbaugh or Fox News. You only get the Republican side of the story. You are trying to blame Barney Frank for stopping passage of a bill that passed. As soon as the Democrats regained control of Congress in 2007, Barney Frank authored a bipartisan bill with Richard Baker, Gary Miller and Mel Watt that passed both houses of Congress and began the auditing of the banking industry. YOU LOSE, AGAIN, LOSER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Despite attempts by the right wing t blame Barney Frank, the argument holds no water. A law that Barney Frank authored it what exposed the banking industry. You are trying to blame the cop called to the crime scene for the crime. Oh, and it was FDR's mistaken notion to give a tax cut in 1936 as a re-election ploy that prolonged the recession after signs of recovery were there. Tax cuts doing anything to help the economy is a long discredited myth. Once again, YOU LOSE!!!
Tax cuts don't help the economy? This is a long discredited myth? So I guess returning more money to the the productive, job-creating segment of society is a bad idea. Yeah, I guess they would only do bad things like, gasp!, spend it. Of course, you being the big government guy you are, would rather your bud Barney Frank decide what to do with that money instead. Because, Lord knows, he knows what's best. I mean, we're only talking about the guy that refused to regulate Fannie and Freddie.
Hey, shithead, I realize that you get your talking points from Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity, but do yourself a favor. Why don't you actually research what the Bush tax cuts did. NO ONE earning LESS THAN $5 MILLION annually qualified for them. Oh, and Barney Frank has NEVER EVER EVER supported any legislation that deregulated the banking industry. He was one of only 34 people in Congress to oppose the Gramm Leach Bliley Act, which is what caused the housing meltdown. Nice try!!!
The Gramm Leach Bliley Act wasn't the only piece of legislation that caused the housing crisis, both Republicans and Democrats are equally responsible for that. The Community Reinvestment act comes to mind as well.
Outside of that, spot on. Barney Frank had a good handle on the economy.
I'll agree with you on the CRA. Talk to any mortgage underwriter and they'll tell you that they were forced by the feds to make very high risk loans to people with...let's just say "suspect" credit histories.
No, actually, I'm 100% RIGHT. George Bush ruined this country for decades to come. It will take MINIMUM 2 presidents to get the ship righted. And yes, Barney Frank is the member of Congress who pushed for regulation of the banking industry for more than three decades. He opposed the Gramm Leach Bliley Act ehn 92% of Congress, Republicans and Democrats, championed it. I'm blaming the douchebag who is responsible for the carnage we are enduring now, and that is George W Bush.
So, once again, you've been caught talking out of your ass. Blaming Barney Frank, who has called for MORE REGULATION of the banking industry for more than 25 years, for the housing crisis is the equivalent of blaming the cop called to the crime scene for the crime itself. YOU LOSE, AGAIN!!!!
Oh boo hoo! Franken didn't "initially" lose. He eventually won because all the ballots that were cast were counted correctly.
Get over it.Coleman lost, McCain lost, Bush was a loser who helped McCain lose. The GOP is a farce, a stinking locker room of Vitters and Ensigns and Sanfords and Wide Stance Larry Craig. You guys have some REAL role models there--ha!
Get used to the status of slime-encrusted LOSERS for the next, oh, eight years or so. Maybe more.
Dear Big Government Lovers, you forgot to mention Halliburton, Big Oil, Bush = Hitler, etc. Come on pal, all you liberal simpletons say the same stuff over and over again. Does the DNC clone you docile sheep in some secret government lab somewhere? Here's an exercise I want you to try. First, remove your head from your ass. Second, think real hard and try to formulate an independent thought of your own. And finally, come back and post it.
Thanks for bringing that up! We need to be reminded again about just how close this country came to being a lock-down fascist state under Bush. Tell us again about how Halliburton gave bad food and water to soldiers while raking in the no-bid contracts. We'd like to hear again about Big Oil and the War For Oil in Iraq. Remind us again how bad it was, just by being a whining little Republican loser. We'd love to hear more of those names we called Bush, because THEY'RE ALL TRUE.
Sorehineyman, try using some facts instead of moronic insults. Do you deny that Halliburton gave bad food and water to troops in Iraq? Try rational argument instead of foamy-mouthed rants and third-grade-level name calling.
But (chuckle) who am I kidding? Reason, facts, and logic are something right-wingers know nothing about. You just proved it! Prove it again by replying!
What a complete ass of a man and what a joke this says for our elected officials. USA is dying.....capitalism is being replaced with socializm. Europe is becoming more capitalist because they know socializm is NOT the answer.
This makes me sooo sick. What a fucking retard you have to be to like this man. You are the death of America. Congratulations, you have successfully turned the election process into a popularity contest. Al has removed all dignity my country had left. Go fuck yourself Al.
Not just as comedian, a halfwit, libtard comedian.
That said, just because someone's a poor comedian doesn't mean they'llmake a bad politician. It isn't Franken's inability to make jokes that bother me, it's his inability to understand simple concepts, to speak well, to write well, to defend the founding principals of the country, etc. that does
All of you people praising Al Franken, Grayson and others are all co-conspirators to the destruction of our country by supporting these complete Inept Morons. Interesting that Al has a $400 haircut while he lets his wife walk around in a $50 haircut.
In my family, the ratio is reversed and the amount is much lower...
Common people know that there is something not right about this facade
carlotessarini 2 years ago
This is about hair for you? No wonder the country is in such a mess...
mcanical 2 years ago
The cost of a haircut has nothing to do with hair. Just like the cost of healthcare has nothing to do with healthcare.
My point was that Al allows himself a $400 haircut while his wife (a civilian) enjoys something more austere.
This is exactly what he proposes for healthcare. He, as a Senator get's the gold plan. The rest of us, civilians get the more austere plan.
By the way, if you think the country is a mess, please propose an alternative country with equal freedom and opportunity.
carlotessarini 2 years ago
Yes I do think it's a mess... and single payer health care does not have a "gold plan" for those in office. As far as a country that has "equal freedom and opportunity." France, Germany, Spain, Finland, UK, and more... don't think for a second that the US is the only place with freedom and choice. As a matter of fact the US has much less than many other countries.

Rich people are driven by greed fear and loathing. desperate to hold on to their priveliges.
That is similar everywhere. Also in Norway.
The trickle down economy you might be exponent for is nothing but a hoax. Just like the Horatio Alger myth..

Exactly what Minnesota needed! A guy that will never be taken seriously by the majority of Congress... He is going to be the muttered joke for the rest of his term. Franken is just one more arrow in Obama's quiver of control. Scary!!

WTF are you talking about? Your name is Dubya.
d00derman 2 years ago
What I'm talking about are the checks & balances... With one party running the whole show then they have the power to do whatever they want without objection. Al Franken? Come on!!!! Really? There are actually people out there that think this guy was the better choice? I just don't get it anymore. Dem or Rep I guess really just doesn't matter to me anymore, but how about someone with experience and knowledge. Not Stuart frickin Smalley for Christ's sake.
Ddubya77 2 years ago
So I assumed you voted for Democrats in '04 because you were worried about GOP having too much power?
d00derman 2 years ago
It was still a Democratic congress in 04' ? I just think that everyone has lost their mind on both sides and have completely lost sight of what their job really is, and that is to do what is best for the citizens of THIS country. Giving one side or the other too much power puts us where we have gotten within the last 6 months. Don't tell me Bush did it because Obama has put us further in debt in 6 months than Bush did in 8 years. That is a FACT! I

@pwnurnoobazz yeah, and electing an actor is pretty "intellectual", right. Ronal Reagan was an actor when he ran for governer of California.

@dhahranksa Um, what does Ronald Reagan have to do with this?
pwnurnoobazz 4 months ago
@pwnurnoobazz Im just pointing out your hypocrisy. You say its not intellectual to vote for Franken because he's a comedian, yet you probably love Reagan, who was an actor when he ran for governor, does that sound intellectual. And Franken is extremely smart and intellectual, hes my favorite senator.
dhahranksa 4 months ago
@dhahranksa Actually no because Reagan was a big government pusher who betrayed his small government principles, though both are intelligent men that doesn't always mean its a good thing to vote for them since they can betray their promises.

Wow big deal a Harvard grad. This guy is a fony he is a joke. And not funny by the way. Oh, yea and you liberals are still blaming the Bush administration. Well that is running thin. So all of you liberals here can have your fun with this Al Frankin. Because he is a pinhead.

john176900 2 years ago
Nice try Thopter - how many "civ" hospitals have you worked in? The CDC issued a report last year projecting 96,000 American deaths from one single cause - hospital-acquired infection. That doesn't include mis-diagnosis, wrong medication, surgical errors - just simple infections, which the CDC states are mostly preventable. If these infections are so preventable, why do they happen? Because in our wonderful profit-at-all-costs system - it's cheaper to let people die than to clean properly.

As a Democrat I agree. If 72% of Americans want a federal healthcare program and if the democrats do not now deliver we will vote them out of office. However we will vote for better Democrats as we all know that the Republicans could care less what the American people want and will always fight against Universal Healthcare.

The reality is that most of the individual Republicans I know are fine and caring people. It is the Republican politicians who could not care less what the people of America want. JCMarra 2 years ago
Franken initially lost fella. He didn't have the votes and thus had to go to the courts to invent some. I take some solace in this farce though. With the 60 vote majority now, the Democrats OWN this fiscal disaster that they're creating. Real "change" is coming in '10.
bhyneman 2 years ago
Actually, Franken never lost. On election night, the absentee ballots were not counted. Coleman had a small lead before the absentee ballots were counted, which was eviscerated when the total votes were counted. Oh, and come 2010, Democrats will be picking up an additional 4 to 5 Senate seats and will also be retaining control of the House, too. Repukes need to gain 78 seats to take back the House. Never going to happen. Ditto for the Senate. PERMANENT DEMOCRATIC MAJORITY!!!
daddymak9 2 years ago
Yep and you and your party OWN this mess now. Of course, I'm sure you'll probably still find some way of blaming Bush for this fiasco of a fiscal nightmare that your lib friends in Washington are pulling right now. And by the way, the reason the Dems are gaining seats is because they have the majority of the complete f'n idiots in this country on their side. Enjoy Stuart Smalley.
bhyneman 2 years ago
Yep, and up until January, George Bush was the president. And for six of his eight years, Republicans ramrodded legislation through Congress that destroyed the country for decades to come. It will take two presidents to right this ship. So yes, I will forever blame George Bush for ruining my country. Oh, and for your information, it took FDR 8 years to fix the disaster that Herbert Hoover and two other Republicans left him. Bush left us worse than the Great Depression did.
daddymak9 2 years ago
God Almighty! Where the hell do you come up with this nonsense? Thanks for the leftist BS history lesson. I really didn't need your version though, I've studied the real thing plenty. Please tell me just what Republican legislation you're referring to that did all this damage. You ever heard of Barney Frank's small role in the housing mess? And for YOUR information, FDR's gov't expansion policies prolonged the depression. Be more specific if you want to have a credible argument.
bhyneman 2 years ago
Oh boy, you left yourself WIDE OPEN for a major league bitchslap. You see, Barney Frank, who was my congressman when I lived in Massachusetts, was one of only 34 members of Congress to vote against the Gramm Leach Bliey Act, which is what allowed for the deregulation of the banking industry. Barney Frank played ABSOLUTELY NO ROLE WHATSOEVER in the housing collapse. When Democrats took control of Congress in 2007, it was a law authored by Barney Frank that exposed Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac!!!
daddymak9 2 years ago
Frank voted AGAINST the 2005 Federal Housing Reform Act that would have increased regulation of Fannie & Freddie. There's a lot of blame to go around. To sit there and say the he had ABSOLUTELY NO ROLE WHATSOEVER is asinine. Congress played a huge role and Frank is the leading member of the most powerful financial committee. That's like saying the CFO of Enron had no idea what was going on after the collapse.
bhyneman 2 years ago
Bnheman, the only suitable response to your post about Barney Frank voting against the 2005 Federal Housing Reform Act is BULLSHIT!!!!!! First of all, that was a Senate bill, Barney Frank is a member of the House. Second, considering the bill never saw a committee hearing because then Senate Banking Committee chairman Richard Shelby, a Republican, opposed it and never allowed debate on said bill. I know the bill, it was authored by Chuck Hagel. Busted again. I'd shut up if I were you.
daddymak9 2 years ago
2003 - Frank and other Dems block H.R. 2575, which would have increased regulation and higher capital requirements for Fannie & Freddie. "Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac do very good work, and they are not endangering the fiscal health of this country" - your boy Barney.
2005 - H.R. 1461 FEDERAL HOUSING FINANCE REFORM ACT. Frank votes NO. The SENATE VERSION is blocked by the help of another culprit, one Chris Dodd. I suppose you're ready to defend him now too, huh? Let's hear it.
bhyneman 2 years ago
One word: BULLSHIT. If you knew ANYTHING about politics, which you do not, you would know that in the House of Representatives, legislation is voted up or down. No one legislator can block House bills. In the Senate, that is a different story. And Richard Shelby, who chaired the Senate Banking Committee when the Republicans were in control, did just that. As chairman, he denied debate on the bill you are talking about. Do your homework. In 2003, Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae were solvent.
daddymak9 2 years ago
You're kidding me, right? Why don't you debate on the central issues and stop cherry-picking with semantics? I understand that a single congressman can't singlehandedly block a bill, but Frank and the House Dems voted against the passage of the bill. And yeah, I guess as long as the bubble never burst, the GSEs would remain solvent. Too bad it was inevitable. Frank defended Fannie and Freddie's increasingly risky loans and shit capital position to the very end. Shelby man? Really?
bhyneman 2 years ago
I realize you're a stupid douchebag but REALLY??? The bill passed the House and was sent to the Senate and NEVER saw a hearing. It passed the House. It recieved the support of virtually every Republican in the House, which made the Democrats and Frank irrelevant to this discussion. It never saw a hearing in the Senate because Richard Shelby opposed it and used his power as chairman to prevent any further discussion of the bill. Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae were exposed because of Frank's bill
daddymak9 2 years ago
This is what happens when you get your information from Rush Limbaugh or Fox News. You only get the Republican side of the story. You are trying to blame Barney Frank for stopping passage of a bill that passed. As soon as the Democrats regained control of Congress in 2007, Barney Frank authored a bipartisan bill with Richard Baker, Gary Miller and Mel Watt that passed both houses of Congress and began the auditing of the banking industry. YOU LOSE, AGAIN, LOSER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
daddymak9 2 years ago
Despite attempts by the right wing t blame Barney Frank, the argument holds no water. A law that Barney Frank authored it what exposed the banking industry. You are trying to blame the cop called to the crime scene for the crime. Oh, and it was FDR's mistaken notion to give a tax cut in 1936 as a re-election ploy that prolonged the recession after signs of recovery were there. Tax cuts doing anything to help the economy is a long discredited myth. Once again, YOU LOSE!!!
daddymak9 2 years ago
Tax cuts don't help the economy? This is a long discredited myth? So I guess returning more money to the the productive, job-creating segment of society is a bad idea. Yeah, I guess they would only do bad things like, gasp!, spend it. Of course, you being the big government guy you are, would rather your bud Barney Frank decide what to do with that money instead. Because, Lord knows, he knows what's best. I mean, we're only talking about the guy that refused to regulate Fannie and Freddie.
bhyneman 2 years ago
Hey, shithead, I realize that you get your talking points from Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity, but do yourself a favor. Why don't you actually research what the Bush tax cuts did. NO ONE earning LESS THAN $5 MILLION annually qualified for them. Oh, and Barney Frank has NEVER EVER EVER supported any legislation that deregulated the banking industry. He was one of only 34 people in Congress to oppose the Gramm Leach Bliley Act, which is what caused the housing meltdown. Nice try!!!
daddymak9 2 years ago
The Gramm Leach Bliley Act wasn't the only piece of legislation that caused the housing crisis, both Republicans and Democrats are equally responsible for that. The Community Reinvestment act comes to mind as well.
Outside of that, spot on. Barney Frank had a good handle on the economy.
WayToTheGrave 2 years ago
I'll agree with you on the CRA. Talk to any mortgage underwriter and they'll tell you that they were forced by the feds to make very high risk loans to people with...let's just say "suspect" credit histories.
bhyneman 2 years ago
Wrong. Every word you said was wrong. Everyone wants to blame someone so you liberals blame Bush. How easy it is to blame the one next to you.
karaoke4ever 2 years ago
No, actually, I'm 100% RIGHT. George Bush ruined this country for decades to come. It will take MINIMUM 2 presidents to get the ship righted. And yes, Barney Frank is the member of Congress who pushed for regulation of the banking industry for more than three decades. He opposed the Gramm Leach Bliley Act ehn 92% of Congress, Republicans and Democrats, championed it. I'm blaming the douchebag who is responsible for the carnage we are enduring now, and that is George W Bush.
daddymak9 2 years ago
You're not going to get anywhere with these two. They each share one half of the same brain cell.
bhyneman 2 years ago

Sore losers.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
only an idiocracy would celebrate the election of a half-rate comedian into one of the more powerful legislative positions in the US.

Well there was precedent when we elected a 3rd rate actor to the Presidency.
Hell, the guy even worked with a chimp.

"Well there was precedent when we elected a 3rd rate actor to the Presidency."
You mean the guy who took down the Soviet Bear without firing a single shot?
Yeah. I remember that guy.
USAon3 2 years ago
Actually, the senile actor's successor saw the dissolution of the USSR.
MKB2814 2 years ago
Not just as comedian, a halfwit, libtard comedian.
That said, just because someone's a poor comedian doesn't mean they'llmake a bad politician. It isn't Franken's inability to make jokes that bother me, it's his inability to understand simple concepts, to speak well, to write well, to defend the founding principals of the country, etc. that does

Unlike that pervert Bernie Ward, Al Franken is a great man!

This is the price you must pay to keep the black in a state of education and poverty.
And this says more about the dysfunctional American society than it says about black men.
