In all fairness, Slipknot arent that good. The main reason they're popular is because they adopted the whole "shock rock" tactic with the masks. Listening to their actual music, I can name ten better bands right off the top of my head. Ten good metal bands.

That said, I like to think that Slipknots acts as a "gateway" band to real metal. A lot of kids start of listening to them and end up listening to the likes of Down and Eyehategod. Maybe that was just me and my friends though.

it is not our place to call some one a "poser". The reason people hate slipknot is because they have a large fan base. Every time a band gets many fans and some radio airplay people start branding them as commercial and fake and what not. Slipknot gets major credit and kudos from many of metals first and finest. We should be glad when a metal bands gets some recognition not shun them just because we liked them before they were cool and no one noticed or because they are successful.
