The mouse was geneticlly altered by researchers attempting to find a means to help those who have trauma or defect to the body. I.E. you're in a car accident and have head trauma. Your face gets screwed up and you lose an ear. They're attempting to find a way to regrow your ear. Also keep in mind that bovine and pig tissues are used in heart surgeries.
