I was talking to a hurricane katrina survivour when I was in myrtle beach and he said that they were so dissapointed in the states army, that they took down the american flag in their town and put up the canadian flag because the canadians were the first ones there to help.
chalmete is a area most people other than locals don't know about.slidell, bay st louis, pass christian, etc.the same.i'm sure most people who were responding to n.o. were coming to help people not,n.o.the town. thank god someone realized outlying areas also needed help.i live in n.o. area. when i first came to n.o. i never knew names of suburbs. i stayed in hampton hotel in lafayette 8/29/05.met someone in elevator from chalmette.
I drove through Chalmette in 12/05 and again in 7/06. All we hear about is the 9th ward. i believe St Bernard suffered more damage than the 9th ward.Every house in Chalmette and surrounding area took on water.
Yeah I lived in Violet. And my house was under 15 feet of water for 2 weeks. Not to say the 9th ward didn't catch it bad...but all that water that would have flooded out the french quarter, flooded right down in to St. Bernard Parish.
This great Keefer!!!Your family and friends are very proud of you and your concern for us who have suffered through this tragedy. This video should help spread the word to the world that this disaster affects all. tks, Valerie

Thanks for letting the world know that there were other places in LA that were hit harder than NOLA and had to wait longer than NOLA for assistance.
