I have had a bad experience with the VA Hospital in Omaha. My Dad, a WWII veteran, was treated like crap there while he was dying of cancer in 2006. I asked nurses on several occasions for certain things to help my Dad, and was told they didn't have enough nurses there. Excuse me, not enough nurses?! People like my Dad who risked their lives for our freedom, don't have enough nurses at a VA Hospital?! What the fuck kind of PUKEY leaders do we have in America?!

I have had friends in Iraq for 40 years. They hated Saddam but some covert help to get rid of him would have been fine. They did not want a full scale invasion of thewir country where there were hardly any terrorists before the U.S. invaded. Iraq is only fractured by civil war and a hotbed of terrorism because Bush invaded the country in the first place. We should have stuck with the job in Afghanistan, which we haven't, and caught bin Laden. To say that if we weren't in Iraq that the U.S. would be attacked is absurd.

I have had a bad experience with the VA Hospital in Omaha. My Dad, a WWII veteran, was treated like crap there while he was dying of cancer in 2006. I asked nurses on several occasions for certain things to help my Dad, and was told they didn't have enough nurses there. Excuse me, not enough nurses?! People like my Dad who risked their lives for our freedom, don't have enough nurses at a VA Hospital?! What the fuck kind of PUKEY leaders do we have in America?!

Um, Mr Obey, the war always has been illegal, on multiple accounts. The congress did not DECLARE a war, but only washed their hands of responsibility and gave "authorization", their blessing, but not the constitutionally required declaration of war. Basically what they said was, 'you want to do war, we won't try to stop you.' Each member of congress that voted in that resolution should resign in disgrace and work from the outside of congress to end this illegal, criminal war.

One does not have to be an expert in international law, even have attended a single day in law school, graduated high school, or even made it past the 4th grade to know that when someone hits FIRST, they are in the wrong. Nuremburg is the minimum. Preemptive war is if someone was heading to attack you, Preventive war on the other hand, what the current regime partook in, "someday in the future they might attack us", is the argument that was explicitly refuted at Nuremburg.

There simply was no evidence Iraq was about to attack the US. Or even that they were planning such. I don't know about you, but I was like Iran & Kuwait was (in the 2000s), not frightened of Saddam Hussein.
To get it straight, I'm for adhere to already existing laws, just as we expect others to. Nothing radical about that at all.

How do you know they didn't exist? What news agency had free reign in the country before the war? If a car bomb exploded we'd never know about it because no one was allowed to report from Iraq without being censored by the Iraqi government. Do you really want the US to pull out so that Iraq can become a nation like the Taliban ruled Afghanistan, were the 9/11 terrorists trained. Um, Mr Obey, the war always has been illegal, on multiple accounts. The congress did not DECLARE a war, but only washed their hands of responsibility and gave "authorization", their blessing, but not the constitutionally required declaration of war. Basically what they said was, 'you want to do war, we won't try to stop you.' Each member of congress that voted in that resolution should resign in disgrace and work from the outside of congress to end this illegal, criminal war.

actually thats a completely invalid point. Japan was allies with Germany through a signed pact. Iraq actually was not allies with Bin Ladin due to him being not of the same Islamic caste as Saddam, as well as they had different goals. So to attack a nation completely outside the sphere of your war is illegal. Germany was inside that sphere. Not sure if you also read up in whatever WWII book you read, but Germany declared war on US right after Pearl Harbor. We didn't declare first.

As a matter of fact the reason that Bin Laden started attacks against U.S. targets is because after Iraq invaded Kuwait there was fear in Saudi Arabia that Iraq might go on to invade Saudi Arabia. Bin Laden in turn offered his Afghan trained Mujahadeen to protect Saudi Arabia from Iraq and the Saudis declined instead for U.S. soldiers (Operation Desert Shield).

I have had friends in Iraq for 40 years. They hated Saddam but some covert help to get rid of him would have been fine. They did not want a full scale invasion of thewir country where there were hardly any terrorists before the U.S. invaded. The U.S. brought the war to them and unfortunately it's not out in the deserts.
