The new locks designed do not have the curve in the end where this mechanism got stuck to pull it down. This will not work in new hotels.. Now they are pushing the door frame to release the safety latch. Always stay in a hotel with automatic deadbolt latch which gives additional half inch security.
@dissy614 Dummy, stealthghost is absolutely right. The deadbolt is part of the handle locking system, when you turn the latch from inside the deadbolt automatically unlocks. The only thing the deadbolt does is prevent anyone with a key from opening the door from the outside. This tool is undeterred by the deadbolt. The only way to deter this tool is if you are in the room and use the latch above the handle locking system. If you are not in you room and somebody wants your stuff, YOU SIR ARE SOL
Suponiendo que en el hotel sean tan canelos como para que las puertas tengan un asa bién grande, en lugar de un pomo, como es lo habitual. Menuda chorrada.

well... nice to know, but where the fuck can you get it ? i never make a trip with those tools, well actually is not necesary if u lose your key you can ask always at the desk in reception... don't waste your time!
That way of opening the ADA inside door handles has been around since they came out with the electronic card key system. Most hotel and resort security men have a thick piece of rigid electrical cable that they use to open the doors in the very same fashion. It also defeats the reading featrure on the door lock.
Someone has stole money from me before in my hotel room( stupid of me) but they were even dumber because the $40.00 they took was tucked into a brand new pair of $350.00 true religion jeans on top of my suit case full of clothes I had just bought for a total of over $6000.00 lol

Stupid,
there is no such space beetwen the floor and the door for electronics locks, very often the handle is rounded. For other kinds, you lock the door when leaving.
all my money disappear in my hotel room one time in Glory Beach Resort Malaysia. they were using the same locks. and there were no record of break in or illegal key card swipe.
hotel were so proud of these locks. i need to show this to the insurance and hotel... !!!

How about just locking the deadbolt?
StealthGhost 1 year ago
@StealthGhost Do you see a deadbolt at 1:04?
JeromeDemers 1 year ago
@StealthGhost
the deadbolt is over-ridden if you open the door from the inside.

@StealthGhost
If you lock the deadbolt, you won't be able to open the door to get out.
If you are already out of the room, you can't lock the deadbolt from the outside.
The keycard triggers a motor to let the handle turn.
Deadbolts are for inside only, unless you commonly leave through the window or something :P

@dissy614
If you leave through the window from any floor above the second you better be able to fly! ( unless there are balconies to jump to!

there is no such thing as "trusty" hotel safes!
there are always technical staff that known the safe service combination.
And as in every company something like that makes its round... ;)

That's a reminder to use your hotel safe. even if you are just stepping out for a second.
