except the $17,173 takes into account the over inflated salaries of school and district administrators, money spent on food, maintenance, text books, water and power at the schools, etc. Teacher are sadly low on the list of where that money goes.

Thanks . I to am teacher with a Master's Degree .. I love my job and never complain .. I do it because I know that what I do helps to shape the future of my community. I don't look for applause or thanks, only to be able to do my job and take care of my family. I live content within my means, but for some strange reason our state government doesn't respect what I do, feels that I could be replaced by someone with no degree only to save a buck. I guess our children don't mean anything to them.
