I accidentally had RSD opened twice which caused the process to fail at 99%. I took the battery out, closed the copy of RSD I wasn't using, put the battery back in and restarted the process getting everything to work ok.

Yes, you will be able to do all updates, but be careful next month when Froyo comes out. Just to be safe wait until others have updated first.

So, doing the same thing with an HTC phone will NOT be the same as Motorola. Droid is the software but the hardware are all different. DroidReview.. Nice "How to do" video, very easy! I have the proper USB driver installed. I have RSDlite installed and operating. I also have the same SBF file needed to reverse my firmware from 2.1update1 to 2.0.1. I even did a hard factory reset and cleared my SD card as well. But for some reason when I hit "start" on RSDlite my phone didnt say "SW update in progress" but stayed on "Battery OK, OK to program, Transfer mode: USB". When the SBF file is complete phone still shows 2.1 any thoughts

It failed for me at the end so I didnt unplug the phone.MY phone just rebooted itself as 2.0.1 so i updated it to 2.1 and redid everything again and it went through it fast but this time at the end my phone went directly to the screen that says to activate phone and the RSD program says under status"Please Manually power up phone"but its already powered up.wut do i do?

@GODIZWITANIGGA777 I'm on Windows 7 as well, and it just opened as an installer. It is an ".msi" file, and that is an extension for an installation file. Should open up with a double-click or if you right-click you should be able to select install.

You totally don't need to revert to 2.0.1 to root your moto droid, you can go straight from 2.1 to rooted to bugless beast glory like I did. You just flash SPRecovery using RSD Lite

@skylarlyndsey I would read the instructions (the written ones) a couple times first, but you would install only the dmupdater.apk directly to your phone. Also, only unzip the USB drivers file and install it to your computer first. The RSDlite file you install to your computer and then you use the RSDlite program to open the VZF***.sbf file. But if you have these types of questions, I would read the instructions at the site he mentioned in his description first.
