  • RIP, John King. This is the piece where your genius in bringing a challenging classical piece to the ukelele and even the machete shone through.

  • Soooo gorgeous ^_^

    ...the playing, not the performer...

though still would ... if he played to me like that :O

  • :L Lmao

  • I just got your Classical Ukulele book in the mail, and it looks like great (and very challenging) fun. But I was disappointed to discover that this piece wasn't in the book--I've listened to it about 100 times! Is it possible to get the tablature from anywhere?

  • Amazing sound from such a tiny instrument.

To me it looks almost like a toy (being a guitarist) but what a fantastic sound.

  • Simply superb. Thanks. KEN.

  • Impressing!

  • brilliant!!! really just took a hold of me from beginning to the end.what kink of uku is that?

  • Thanks! My ukulele was made by Joel Eckhaus of Earnest Instruments in South Portland, Maine.

  • oke I might have exaggerated a bit but it's rather pleasent to listen to.

Glenn Gould once said "when Bach would have lived today he would have written the goldber variations for piano" wel if that would be thru than maybe he had written this peace for ukelele

  • the Glenn gould of ukelele

  • Not hardly! But thanks for the sentiment.

  • beautiful--thanks

  • Thank you.

  • JSB would be proud.

    Re-entrant ROCKS!

  • Thanks. I agree with you re: re-entrant.

  • it just flows so effortlessly. we want more.

  • Wow that was played pretty flawlessly. I'm impressed

  • Thank you; I did the best I could...

  • Well done +5

  • Thanks!

  • oh wow amazing! really good job with this solo!

  • Thanks.

  • You make this sound like Bach wrote this just for the uke.

  • Thank you. Thank you very much.

  • Fantastic again!

One thing amazes me: How you hold the ukulele... It looks like magic. I'm wondering all the time why it doesn't fall down. Are you supporting it with the thumb of your left hand all the time?

    Regards, Wilfried

  • Thanks, Wilfried. As for holding the instrument, I do use a small piece of rubberized fabric--sold as shelf liner or carpet padding--that my friend Mary Long suggested many years ago. It is also helpful to get as much "skin" on the body of the uke as possible, preferably short sleeved shirts with a little texture. Then full speed ahead ...

  • Thanks for your answer :) -- I'd never figured this out myself. Very interesting idea. I'll try this with one of my cheap-o ukuleles :)

    Regards, Wilfried
