  • Thanks for sharing your vid.

I love my explorer. I'm gonna be one sad old person when we're all forced to drive smart cars sometime in the next 40 years. haha

  • low-end Torquey as hell 4.0 Cologne. They just don't make engines liek taht anymore.

  • Excellent stuff. I've been on the Exploreform. I have a 97 Ranger 9" lift. 35's. broke the driveshaft out of it, it's getting sold, being given to us is a 98 Explore. Runs and drives well. Stock.

  • My buddy davids is cooler.

  • he should run over the girl taliking ......shut the fuck up!!!!!!!she kiiled the whole video i had to mute it ...lol

  • gotta love AZ

  • man that makes me want to do an SAS on mine!

  • r the axles and drive shafts modified for the extra movement?

  • @SleazyT32 1993 with a '95 front clip.

  • @rickhz I have a 97 with the 5.0L. With that body style, around how much would it be just to lift it 4 or 5 inches with changing too much, and if there would be any changing what would it be?

  • Pls I love the lift you got on your truck and where can I get it . Pls email me at scm_tuning@hotmail.com

  • @MrSoo1985 It's a custom lift. Nothing off the shelf.

  • @rickhz hey where did u get the fenders at

i got a 99 and want those finders

  • i have a 1994 ford explorer, are the 4.0L V6 motors good for 4x4ing?

  • Depends what you want to do. They make a lot of torque at low RPMs and I feel when coupled with low gears they make good engine for rock crawling. Without a supercharger they are HP limited so they aren't great in deep gooey mud.

  • @rickhz Totally agree

  • @rickhz where could i get a super chargre for a 4l?

  • @blsbrandon1 with about 10 grand in it

  • i've researched the torsion twist and shackles but i have some worries about driving one down the road. i've never lifted anything before and really excited to get started. i understand that with the torsion twist i would need an alignment after which isnt a big deal. i have many questions so please forgive me

1 will the ball joints wear out faster with the twist

2 will it reduce the drive shaft life

3 if i replace the shocks with shock for lifted trucks will that reduce the rough ride

  • it's a 99 4.0

  • wow i had an idea of what i wanted to do with my explorer and this is an almost exact copy of what i want. not only that but it was by the forum that i get 95% of my info from. hmm... i will take that as a sign that i should go ahead and jack my exploder up. any ideas on how i can get a 3 in lift, 31" tires all for around $3000? one last question what color orange is that? sorry i got really excited for a minute

  • The color is Chevy Hugger Orange. You could do a body lift with tires for less than $3k. If you have a 2nd gen, you could add a torsion twist and extended shackles and still keep it under 3k. It's more expensive to lift the 1st gen since you need drop brackets and longer coil springs.

  • Hey, don't get pulled over!! Oh wait, they're white so they have nothing to worry about.

  • oh ok i was wondering haha good thing

  • u need lockers

  • It has air lockers front and rear. They were turned off in the first attempt and on when it crawled right out.

  • Aim for ya wife xD he must be the only dude not to pick up speed after hearin that lol

  • I like how the older sounding lady is telling the guy hes wrong, best quote "He's gotta crawl thats what"...

  • awesome build. mad props

  • wouldnt you need a new aftermarket fuel pump and oil pump since you will be going at such steep angles, you want enough oil to get to the engine and not slide to the back of the pan

  • Keep enough fuel in the tank and there is no problem. I have never starved the engine for fuel or oil. The engine is original and has been doing this kind of stuff since the Explorer had 500 miles on it. No smoke or clatter, and it just passed emissions once again with flying colors.

  • is this a standerd or automatic ...

an how hard is it on the clutch, if it is standerd

  • Not hard on the clutch at all since the gearing is very low. This Explorer has 4:88 gears in the differentials and a 4.3:1 Atlas II transfer case.

  • alright cool, im only 15 an i think im getin a 97 2wd ranger, but after i pay my dad off, i wanna get an old explorer :)

  • Standard...

  • I got the same truck as you do but mine is a hot weel lol

  • i have a 95 frod explorer 4.0l and was just wondering if the stock front axle could handle off road fun for someone who doesnt have much cash to play with??

my first 94 explorer had nothing more than slightly larger mud/snow tires and warn locking hubs and still saw some cool places. some say, its the driver that counts, not the build. and if there are any 4x4 groups i can join in the plaistow n.h. area.

  • the dana 35 in these trucks are pretty tough. run 35's easy. but will go through wheel bearings quick. they are fairly small. axel shafts are pretty close to the same in strength to a dana 44 also. use the same u-joints actually. get bigger brakes, bigger hubs and bigger ball joints. plus in general gears ect are cheaper for the 44. the 8.8 is pretty tough aldo. if you get one from a 96 (i think ) and up they have disk brakes also.

  • man thats pretty awesome its nice to see something that wasnt built with a cookie cutter

  • True story lol.

Grandpa's explorer ate 4 already lol

  • i love explorers, if only they came stock w/ a spare transmission lol.its cool to see somethin other than cjs samis and silverados out there too.

  • and a mechanic to put it in

  • no point in wheelin hard if u cant fix it when u break a cv joint or loose ur lights on a night ride

  • hey rick when we going to trade rigs

  • inspiration for a 96 2 door

  • Explorers Kick ass after you replace the tranny LOL

  • Sick rig bro!!! Im in parker where you at??

  • I'm in Wittmann.

  • Wittmann, Northwest of Phoenix

  • wow great spotter

  • Stay! Rick dont move! lol

  • sweet articulation!

  • hey can anyone help me find some parts for my 98 explorer love the dam thing but cant find a lift kits for it tryin to find a 4" maybe im gettin 31" tires for it but jus need some help finding a lift kit. thanks

  • great video man

  • explorers are amazing. we have a 2door sport and it rocks.

  • It's got ARBs front and rear...

  • GO FORD!!

  • sum freakin nice explorers to guys we love ours not modded much but a little engine and tires reliable as hell maybe i will get serous when im getting a little more richer lol!!!

  • Yeah i'd like to get bigger tires on it and some things to go on mine. I love my explorer.

  • nice explorer :)

  • IT'S THE GREAT PUMPKIN!! Rick I have yet to see a vid of you X but I'm even more impressed now than I was before.

  • wow, very nice suspension travel!!

  • that was fuckin sweet

  • This Explorer has ARB Airlockers front and rear. They only work if they're turned on. I turned them on once I noticed the wheel slip.

  • Yeah lockers are the first thing going in my 91 exploder after I rebuild the rear end. I broke one of the caps the set the ring and pinion lash when I got buried this winter. I used to live in Maricopa when I was young. I loved bombing across the desert in my dads '61 Ford.

  • Nice rig...I wanna SAS my '99 Ranger, TO HELL WITH IFS!!

  • by the way i live in arizona is this at white tanks? or some where really hot desert lol

i live by williow canyon high school its in surprise if you dont know!!1

  • This was up at Table Mesa Rd.

  • this is the meanest explorer out there period. Very nice work on this one. Tons of money and labor, well payed off.

  • Thanks!

  • oh that stinks u musta buffed ur car up alot! U should get flip switch diff. lock

  • seriouse explorerations right there man!

  • wait.. Is that a gen 1?

  • Yep, it's a '93 with a fiberglass 2nd generation front clip.

  • Did the car actually stop at one time, or did he turn it off.

  • Yeah, I killed it:( Even with 4:88s and a 4.3:1 transfer case it could still be geared even lower.

  • mmmm the sweet whine of a ford powersteering pump

  • that is a powerfull explorer!!!!

  • i wanna get my explorer like that

  • check out my vids of my explorer, it's not as good as this one, but their still good.

  • i think ive seen this off of pirate4x4 before

  • only good ford in the world!!!!!!but i still dont like fords

  • Thanks for visiting.

  • How have u have it since 93 when the frame looks 96+

  • It has '95+ steel fenders, a '95+ grill and fiberglass hood. Everything else is '93.

  • It's coll you own it since new, how many miles do you have on it? Still going strong this day? How about a video of it in its latest stage?

  • hey rick, your pumpkin is still lookin good! You probably dont know me, but my brother, LiKuiD is on explorer forum. He has the 98XLT with the parts he bought off X24. Ring a bell?

Pumpkin looks good! Have you given any thought about dropping in a 5.0? Would the 1st gen explorer frame support it? A few mods and the 5.0 sounds nasty, and goes fast to! Plus to my understanding, the 5.0 has a different cam for more torque, which is better offroad.

  • Yep. I know LiKuiD on my site.

Many folks have done a 5.0 swap. I'm not interested since I've got plenty of torque with the Atlas II transfer case. More HP would just break more parts.

  • How much money you have invested in that explorer?

  • Who knows;) I've owned this rig since it was new in '93. It's underwent many changes since then:D

  • well you did a nice job with it.

I was just wondering cause I want to trick out my 2000 toyota and trying to get an idea of what I am looking to spend.

  • where is this in az

  • At the Table Mesa Rd. Exit off of I-17.

  • Sick with it!!! Nice video!!!
