Actually, the brown recluse, or fiddle back as we call it in Oklahoma, is not as bad as most people think. Most of the time it just lasts a few days and then goes away. Black widows are what's deadly. This just hurts like hell.

They are nasty bites.. I was bitten 20 years ago on my back. I was trying on stored clothing, a favorite place for these spiders to live. I didn't feel anything then, but hours later it burned really bad. I woke and looked, seeing my skin ( the size of a business envelope) black, like a burn. I felt sick, and my glands ached. I went to the ER for treatment. The blackened, dead skin fell off, showing a big, red bite. It took appx 4-5 months to heal. Some people need skin grafts.
