  • this is my favorite volta song

  • themarsvolta.....ahhh......GRRKKKK!

Cedric's voice and Omar's guitars just enters your body yeah?like a spirit or sumtin crazy like that i dunno but its really trippy and hella awesome...i think when they die they wont just lay dead but instead with their last breathe they evaporate into the beyond or sumwhere all mystical and cool

  • BASHIOK.

  • the final trumpet solo is amazing!!! why did you cut off?!?!? :(

  • Brilliant track,goose bump delight....!! :)

  • no need for you to try no longer... that's the best one BITCHES :d

  • find me a better song and i'll show you my tits

  • @tuuuxxy listen to take the veil cerpin taxt or this apparatus must be unearthed i think those are better.................................SHOW ME THA TITTIES

  • @tuuuxxy L'via l'viaquez :P

  • It is funny that pitchfork gave this album a 2 out of 10!Forgive them Omar, they' re just a bunch of ignorants...

  • Tarantino should reaaly use this song !!!!!

  • thanks for cutting out all that crap at the beginnning

  • @TheDinnerTimeBoys

it aint crap, its part of the song you flid

  • Great edit here. Frances the Mute is a great album, but its got too much..well..nothing in it. It takes too long for some songs to start or end. Believe me, i love lengthy songs, and i love songs with different parts or with intros or outros, but when you're having to fast forward through 4 minutes of almost nothing just to get to the actual song, it takes away from the album. Frances the Mute could have been cut down significantly and it still would be amazing.

  • @piperathegates2112

Not to call you an uncultured idiot, but that sounded pretty uncultured and a bit idiotic.

The build up and resolution merely accents the climax. If a song were just the climax, it wouldn't be as good. You need to sit through all the "boring" (the fuck?) stuff to appreciate the "interesting" (again, the fuck?) stuff, and you need to feel the resolution because THAT'S WHAT THE MARS VOLTA FUCKING INTENDED FOR YOU TO DO.

  • @Faschismus I completely understand & respect your comment. I feel the same way about many many songs and artists. It just so happens in this particular case, I don't feel as passionately as you do about some parts of this song or album. Call me an uncultured idiot if you must, but as with most things, its all matter of opinion. And that's the great thing about music. It can mean so many different things to many different people.

  • @Faschismus I respect and admire The Mars Volta a great deal. And I have listened to this song, this album, all their albums, in their entirety many many times. And I'm in no way saying this is a bad album. I think its brilliant. However it doesn't mean I have to enjoy or feel so passionate about every song, every note, or every sound the band creates. Again, its all about what connection certain music has with a certain individual.

  • @piperathegates2112

I'm not calling you an uncultured idiot because you don't like those parts.

I'm calling you an uncultured idiot because you blatantly called them nothing.

And when I call you an uncultured idiot, you're not supposed to take it well.

  • @Faschismus your talking to a brick wall man loll he cant feel nothin

  • @Faschismus Well those parts that you admire so much, are infact, pretty much are nothing in my opinion. Again, the key word being "opinion". I agree to disagree. If you feel the need to call me whatever for whatever reason, that's perfectly ok with me. I don't get offended very easily lol. And I'm not like one of the thousands of mindless people that have these pathetic insult competitions over the internet. If I had, then I would be..well..an uncultured idiot, right? :)

  • This is definitely one of my favorite bands fo'sho!

Every song of theirs just hits me really deep and puts me in a really relaxed state of mind :)

And holy fucking shit! I look like fucking Cedric at 2:36, except for the hair that is hahaha

  • Amazing song but my favourite part is just after this video ends, some great jazz trumpets.

  • LOL at cedric at 308,and this song is fucking crazy awesome

  • genius. they are godlike with their talent and musical beauty.

  • Comment removed

  • this is missing the intro with the Coqui of Puerto RICO!

  • tiiight!

    @,@

  • Just zoned out and listened to this for the very first time (only found this band a week ago) and my day just got ten times better

  • @IrishRhavin .... they're the absolute greatest... (Writing from a friends youtube... xD)

  • @IrishRhavin... I'm somewhat jealous of you; I can remember when I first got into The Mars Volta. It was as if I'd finally found the music I'd been waiting all my life to hear, like I'd finally seen the light. A truly amazing band that have changed my whole outlook on music in general. Simply epic.

  • favorate song from frances the mute

  • lol they cut the worst part out of the song..this is the part that you actually feel..good job on this song.

  • best part my ass,

This isssss the best part,l flea comes in with the trumpet and that haunting voice begins that = HURRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAY

  • Yeah, totally cut the best part out of the song... disapointing to say the least...

  • aghhhhh, just got to the end.. youve cut out the best part!!

  • holy crap i love this song. joint plus headphones in a dark room=heaven

  • Best Mars Volta song ever.

  • such an eerie song

    this band is awesome

  • hm his voice is so incredibly beautiful.

it's all comes together perfectly. they've never really made me feel uncomfortable with their music- i've noticed a lot of people saying that. i don't get it.

  • yes I always thought his voice was sinister, even though it is very high

  • Initially I had not much time for cedrics singing, but the more i listen to him, the more i am charmed by it.

    really, really sublime stuff here...

  • dude eunuch provocteur, just close your eyes and listen to that song its incredible oh and dont forget viscera eyes

  • This is the only song I've heard from this band and its relly fucking good. What are some other good ones from them?

  • Listen to "the Widow", "Frances the Mute", or "Cygnus...Vismund Cygnus" and you can't go wrong my friend...

  • EVERY SINGLE SONG THEY HAVE!

    even from At The Drive-In

    Cedric and Omar ftw!

  • @donm454

    the whole album

  • its just pure awsomeness coated in gold with wheels on it... big fuck off wheels.... every time i hear that song it gives me goosebumps

  • I just know that The Mars Volta and some pot are the best combination

  • yeah mars volta is super cool when im super stoned

  • mars volta is mars volta..mars volta are better than gods...for me...

  • HOoOoOoOoO OooOORgaSmOoO

  • this is my favorite album by them. the rest are amazing though. I can't find live footage of Cassandra geminni for some reason. is it rare for them to play that live?

  • well, yes. it's 32 minutes, so yeah.

  • damn i didnt realise how much of the song you cut off.. the last 2 minutes of sax/trumpet/guitar is the best.. smoke a fatty and float

  • This, Televators, and Asilos Magdalena are still my favorite Mars Volta songs. It is hard to choose though.

  • these pictures are godly

  • I like the cut off beginning but i wanted to hear the trumpet at the end lol

  • the most beautiful part is cut off. why did you do that? :(

  • cette chanson est magnifique

  • tout à fait daccord

  • Comment removed

  • Whoaa! trippy////i love it all

  • I understand that you cant put the whole song, cause the intro is so extend...BUT, the intro for me is one of the BEST ever maked. I can imagine so many things when this song start. thanks man.

  • Especially when you're lit.

  • hahaa what is wrong with you guys? Amputechture was easily their worst album; Omar didn't even play in it haha.

It's the album they made to get more fans, imo, and the one with less TMV feel.

IMT (in my taste) it's De-loused

    Frances The Mute

    Goliath

    and lastly amputechture.

The drumming on Goliath is so energetic.

  • How can you say Goliath is more Mars Volta than Amputechture? I'd say it's the most structured and commercialized and therefore the least Volta. I admit that both Amputechture and Goliath are easily worse than Frances and De-loused but I wouldn't say Amputechture was the furthest from their original master-works especially since it came next chronologically.

  • Amputechture was just a boring CD to sit through.

It inspired very little feeling, and a few snooze-worthy songs.

You seem to think that artists don't evolve. I personally enjoy how much better the music is put together now, and how less boring and pretentious Goliath (or any of their past works) are compared to Amputechture.

  • Again, you seem to be accusing Amputechture of things I thought about Goliath. Goliath to me came off as the least inspired and most generically themed of them, although it was close to Amputechture. I like them both fairly the same.

I'd personaly like to think that a lot of the music on Amputechture was frank rather than pretentious, although it is undeniable that some of it is a little too much. As far as un-inspiring though, I completely disagree, nor would I say that about any Volta song.

  • amputechture is my fav....

  • the problem with Ampu is not the songs themselves, its that they dont feel unified like in Frances o De-loused, it doesnt feels like an album but a group of songs thrown together

  • i still dont think its problematic at all. oh well. different opinion

  • word. couldn't have said it any better.

  • ok each record TMV puts out takes time to get into

    de loused was easy

i'll admit frances took longer, i only liked lvia and the widow

amputecture showed mastery of long songs

just look at the last 10 minutes of cassandra gemini, not very groovy to get into

the bedlam in goliath, is the hardest album to listen too

but is very rewarding, illyena is a great song to dance too, and calavettes gives great beats

    its something different

    but what you expect

    its the mars volta

  • Cassandra is on Frances, not Amputechture.

  • what i was doing was comparing the ending of cassandra to other songs on amputecture

none of the songs on ampectecture follow that sort of atmospheric jam on cassandra

  • What i don't understand is how can something from mars volta be more mars volta then another of there songs?

good or bad its all them.

    and its mostly good.

    haha

    btw its all about De-loused

  • What's with all of these fans that think De-Loused is their best? Don't get me wrong, it's incredible, as was Tremulant. But I think their best hands down is Frances. No questions.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm with you on this. I follow and love their work...but Frances is a journey to the center of the earth, and then off through the cosmos....damn, damn, damn....

Frances has vines growing around it....that shit is alive and creeping.

  • dude i gotta agree with you there. frances IS F-U-C-K-I-N-G EPIC!!! i was annoyed with amputechture when they stopped the long ass doodling between songs that made it breathe and pulse.. love this fucking album

  • Amputechture is my favorite personally, De-loused is second.

I like this album, definitely has amazing songs, but I just can't listen to it front to back without losing serious interest. The songs are good, but the ambient noise is too much in the wrong places I believe.

Mostly, it's all about what influence you like more. De-Loused is more progressive, Amputechture is more jazz fusion, and Frances is more latin IMO.

Oh, and De-Loused has the best intro ever. Hands down.

  • No I agree, but as much as I like jazz and progressive, the Latin was really cool. I'm just a patient person though, I sometimes get tired, but it just brings me in to this transcendental state that I can't really explain, it's like a drug to me.

I disagree, I think Amputechture and Frances have better intros, I love the acoustic to Frances, and Vicarious Atonement is badass.

At least we can all agree Bedlam had an awful opening.

  • Yes, but I think they were trying to surprise the fans by coming out of the gate like that considering the concept of the album was in your face rock and roll. I agree though, it wasn't a very good intro, but I loved that album. De-loused though......egh. Not their best work in my opinion. Kinda watered down version of what they became, but I guess that's what you get when Rick Rubin produces your album. He wanted to make hits and tone down the experimentalism, but that's not what they are.

  • It is now! haha, no I love Octahedron but its soooooo clean!

  • i kind of liked the intro to bedlam. tmv is all about new ideas, so why stay with the same quiet, slow preparation for the masterpiece to come? when i first heard bedlam, i had no idea aberinkula would start so abruptly and it scared the living piss out of me. sounds just like omar's sense of humor to me. ever seen them play this song on the nissan set? he did the same thing at the end.

  • I will admit, it scared the shit out of me, not as much as when Cotopaxi kicks in, but still. I just hit play, waiting through the fuss, then BAM "HAVE YOU SEEN THE LIVING?!!!". My heart was racing the rest of the song, not really in a good way either, more in a "I'm going to have a heart attack" way.

  • well, Cedric and Omar specifically stated that much of their music is written to emulate a sensation experienced as a result of certain moments of cinema. perhaps they watched a scary-ass movie and thought "how could we transmit that feeling through our music?"

  • That's exactly what they did.

And yeah, they try to make their songs make you feel uncomfortable, or sad, or hyped up, etc.

They're geniuses when it comes to that.

  • For me:

my favorite albums in order are

    1. tie between De-loused and Frances

    2. Amputechture

    3. Goliath

    but there All Baddass albums.............

  • dios todo un orgasmo!

  • my ranking:

    1 frances

    2 bedlam

    3deloused

    4amputechture

  • Magnifique!

  • in my opion the bes tmv albums in order amputechture, fraces, delouse and goliath and goliath is a excelent album

  • Who thinks that Amutechture is shit?

  • not me.

but a lot of people... :(

    I adore Amputechture...

  • me too its a great album! way better than goliath

  • it goes frances, de-loused, goliath, amputecture

    in order of awesomeness ofcoarse

  • I think its a great album. and its spelled amputechture.

  • amputechture is one of my favs. the ending of tetragrammaton is orgasmic, & viscera eyes is one of tmv's best, in my opinion. vicarious atonement reminds me of i want you/she's so heavy by the beatles. asilos magdalena is also a goodie. i dunno, how could any mars volta fan think that album is shit?

  • I'm with you sdfgshjg. You have to agree that the transition from vicarious atonement to Tetragrammaton is epic!

  • I prefer Amputechture to Bedlam 100%, Bedlam is my least favourite and i'm not really sure why for me it's Deloused 1st because of it's atmosphere, Frances probably 2nd and then Amputechture but I kind of like Frances and Amp equally, Bedlam is just not the sound I fell in love with

  • so you fell in love with the sound of John Frusciante?

  • i fell in love with the musicomar composed not who played the instruments in the recordings

  • anyone know where i can get some trumpet sheet music for this?

  • I want trumpet sheet music for this also!

  • Search for a guitar pro file, most of them have every instrument tabbed out

  • Frances trumps De-Loused.

    Somebody had to say it.

Of course, I do a lot fewer drugs than most dedicated Volta listeners.

  • you guys should trip to tmv...better than high even

  • i would like everyone to disregard that comment, my stupid ass friend put it. i fuckin love this band, ive listened to this song about 92 times

  • They are seriously the coolest band to listen to when your stoned. This song and L'Via is amazing...like really amazing.

  • i wish i had a fro

  • Sleepy, if you want to point out a typo, you might want to make sure you are actually correcting something, rather than making an ass of yourself..

  • Mars Volta=

    Half Salsa

    Half Techno

    Half Progressive Rock

  • Ok since you got the wrong idea ill explain to you... By halves I mean parts, and jeese man whats with the hostileness toward me? Its not like I made fun of you

  • that was completely uncalled for....but funny as hell XD

  • hey, FAGGOT, it' "sense" not "since".

    ROFL @ YOU

    p.s. TMV rules

    peace.

  • Hahaha no one likes PrometheusSpirit, AND SLEEPY is right TMV dose fucking rule

  • god this song is terrifying..anyways, the mars volta IS terrifying.

  • I've memorized the lyrics if you want to know them...

  • thank you very much, i've got them :)i wish i could se a concert oh the mars volta...techno??i find it strange, do ou really think the mars volta is half techno???

  • Well By techno I mean using Special effects to make cool noises and songs(They use alot of sound effects in The Bedlam Goliath)but not like Techno Techno but I think they've got a little bit of it in them. Mostly Techno and Progressive in the end they Equal Alternative.

  • yes maybe you're right. what is the bedlam goliath? i only know 3 CDs by them. amputechture, deloused in the comatorium and frances the mute.

  • Um Well bedlam in Goliath is their 4th Album. I do not really know what its about myself. I think something having to do with a man,A Women, and her mother or something like that. I know about the other Cds but the only ones I dont quite know are Amputechture and The Bedlam in Goliath

  • techno wtf...Jimi Hendrix used alot of effects but no one would ever dare call him techno.

  • I think the term he is looking for is ambient. Man i played Frances front to back, ambient lit my room, got pencils, paint and my white walls in the room, and went to town. By the time the cd was done i had a awesome mural. Why anyone would do drugs when you can just listen to volta, i wont ever understand.

  • Maybe they like to both :)

  • Listening to TMV on drugs gives you a different perspective of their songs. It's hard to explain, but being high and listening to De-Loused is a very ethereal experience.

  • agreed

  • very much agreed. Mary Jane PLUS TMV = great time

  • Dude, I cannot agree with you more on that. I get high for that reason aone almost, it's an unreal experience.

  • Can't agree more, with some weed Deloused is so visual, even this album, the music opens up so many visuals for me anyway, i use to see so much hard to explain, incredible shit listening to MV with eyes closed

  • De-loused is the jam, but what do you guys think about Amputechture?? Vicarious Atonement and Vermicide are some pretty spacey songs.

  • amputechture always has a special place in my heart because it was the first full volta album i listened id only heard l'via and the widow before and liked them but amputechture got me in volta - viscera eyes is one of their best songs same with meccamputechture, VA is nice and mellow man and vermicide has got a nice melody from what i remember but the two i mentioned are my favourite tracks from the album but yeah the two you mentioned are relaxing and spacey

  • don't think my comment was posted but my fav part of attonement is 5:37 one of the best jazz vocal melodies comes in there, great stuff - both of those two songs you mentioned are greatly relaxing and VA has a similar feel to frances but my fav off the album have to be viscera eyes and meccamp - that album will always have a special place in my heart as it was the first volta album i listened to properly, i liked l'via and the widow but amp was the first one i bought, it got me into them

  • They're going to voodoo fest this october =D. Gonna see them.

  • waaaaaa!!!you're so lucky...:'(

  • Yeah, Voodoo fest is such an awesome experience, even if they weren't going to be there. I'm lucky it's so close to where I live.

  • my names in this song! lol i love it so much it gives me chills...<3

  • trumpet is amaizing

  • A carpula metacarpi nestled on the chest of the ripped capillary.

My speakers don't go loud enough.

Torn broken friend in a rash of pot boiled summarily

  • the segment "con safo" is simple amazing!!

just a example what music can be !!

    Simple estupefatic !!

    ^^

  • lol 3:03 cedrics face

    THIS IS SPARTA!

  • the most genious album of all time

  • This is the best acoustic song that Mars Volta have done!

  • Flea is the one playing the trumphet. Go flea.

  • great.

  • Cedric and omar are hella dope

  • amazing

  • definatly a favorite..

the drums at the end make it seem all cathartic and stuff

  • cool

  • omg omg omg AWEsOmE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i always wanted to eat glass with you again

  • this song seriouly is one of my favorite songs ever!! it's awesome

  • frances and dlitc are the best volta work

  • Gorgeous song. Have you heard the acoustic version?

  • 2:32 lol

  • that just screams: HHHHMMMMMMMMMMMM?
