Before anyone bashes me for what I am about to say, I was willing to give Anette a chance. I liked a lot of songs from Dark Passion Play but I don't know about this song. It sounds too "mainstream" and I hope Nightwish isn't going that route, that's NOT a good route to go. I liked them because they weren't like mainstream media, and their music was almost magical, but this...like I said, this sounds kinda "mainstream rock"

Got the album off of iTunes this morning, spent my day driving around listening to it. I got a bit teary-eyed at the end (Imaginaerum, specifically the song). Anette's voice seems to fit this album more than Dark Passion Play, but honestly, I loved every second of it. Song of Myself is interesting to listen to too. This song, to quote a friend of mine, is the album, though.

Alright, I've practically listened to every Nightwish song by now, and I'm just going to give my honest and humble opinion about this song and the previous album. The number one problem are the riffs, they're just boring. Compared to the older albums, it really isn't about Anette's voice for me (though she could sound ALOT better in a lower pitch), it's the god damn guitar. I mean really, the metalwork in this song is just bland! The beginning symphonic melody was nice but that's about it.

Overall a fantastic album. I was one of the people who felt Anette wasn't strong enough to replace Tarja but with this album I will admit I was wrong, she is great. Although I prefered the classical style of old Nightwish and would have preferred a classical stylled replacement I have to give credit to Annette and so should everyone else.

There's no point living in the past because Tuomas sure as hell isn't and he at the end of everything is the man that writes the music
