Every effort to eliminate the "schwa" (the "uh" sound) from the letter sounds was made, but when one is singing, it is almost impossible to remove that "uh" that tends to pop up when one is attempting to sing the sounds of the letters. The reason why we chose the word, "clap" instead of a word such as "cat" or "cap" is because it is supposed to be an action song, and clapping is a fun and easy thing for children to do. I think children learn best when practicing is fun.

This could be better: use ONE sound and no blends for initial consonant sounds.
"d" not "duh"
"c" (hard c sound) not "cuh"
c-a-t (sounds) NOT cuh-a-tuh
clap has a blend. cat or cap would be better.
