It's brilliant, it actually sounds like some kind of mythical beast's vocal noise, I would love to have one of these things... Quite cool he uses it in somekind of modern classical/jazz composition, although I'm not really into that kind of thing myself. 5 stars.
One gets the feeling that the instrument had enormous range for anything at the time - if the primary instrument we hear is the Carnyx, I'd say you've a good four octaves. Because it is so very different from anything else, one also gets the feeling there are missing ancestors to the instrument.
If I was going to have a warhorn, I'd have a sound somewhere between this and a Tibetan dungchen for the low notes
