  • I notice that Pete has not yet grown a Movember! His opinion on Glasto is shared by a lot of others, it is now massively branded and a corporate jolly for multinationals as well as a fundraiser for charities, which grates for a lot of us oldies who remember 'the good old days' Rock On Levellers and Beautiful Days!

  • Part 1

We are all entitled to our opinions Pete but I don't agree with your rant on Glastonbury. I found it unnecessary and disappointing.

I'm a HUGE fan of Beautiful Days and likewise Glastonbury. Although Glastonbury may now have a presence of 'corporativeness' about it, I don't believe any other festival raises as much money for 3 important organisations - Wateraid, Oxfam and Greenpeace. The Eavis's probably would not be able to achieve this without the help they receive (e.g. Orange).

  • Part 2

I also don't believe any other festival offers as much variety of performing arts as Glastonbury. The list is endless, so many stages, so many opportunities for unknown and young talent - and NOT just music. You can spend your time watching great acts without even seeing someone famous if you want to. How many is it now, 45 official stages? Plus all the other venues and 'street entertainers'.

I don't wish to knock any other festivals. I just avoid going to them.

  • Part 3

And, by the way, people ARE happy at Glastonbury - it's 5 days of fabulous entertainment and fun - even when it rains.

Next year I'll again be attending and looking forward to the what I consider to be the best 2 festivals around - Beautiful Days and Glastonbury. I'll buy you a drink if I see you at Glastonbury, Pete :)

  • i do like the vibe at Beautiful days muchly

  • Good comments been to Glastonbury since 77. Worked there through the late 90s and early noughties and he is right. It us a coperate affair with huge rock stars. I love the green fields though. That still has spirit. If he goes next year. Resist the temptation to go over the old railway line to Babylon stay in the green fields

  • Love This.

Beautiful Days...its the best festival of the summer <3
