Great video, thanx for the info :) I would like to try that with my new flat iron, it's the Karmin Professional Titanium Flat Iron, it works pretty good, removes static and leaves my hair silky and shiny, I bought it at my hair styling tools. :)
thnx for the tips, are really useful, I will try that with my Karmin G3 Salon Pro which causes less damage to the hair and keeps it soft, shiny and very straight. :D
my goodness u have a lot of hair..and i thought i had a lot haha.Anyways ur hair is gorgeous! but no more bleach girl, dont ruin that beautiful hair =)
does the coconut oil make your hair greasy if you leave it in and strighten it? also does the strightener burn the coconut oil and if so does it smell bad ?
If you use too much of the coconut oil then yes... it may feel greasy.. and no it doesn't burn the oil it still smells pretty nice afterwards... But I actually haven't been using the coconut oil recently.. I still love my tony and guy protein protection mist that I did a video on.. I'm trying out some new heat protectant products so stay tuned for those reviews!!
hey..i also have mixed hair..im 1/2 asain and 1/2 black and my hair is like yours but a bit curlier and it takes me about 45 to straighten mine. it comes to my bra strap though..i use a round boars hair brisle brush instead of the paddle brush...i find it works perfectly and takes the shortest amount of time...you should try it one day
You just gotta keep up on the trims and deep condition you hair as often as you feel necessary. I always put a conditioning spray in my hair and I don't wash it with shampoo too often durin the week because that just drys it out. I like to cowash it with conditioner. And thanks for all the nice comments.
Sorry I don't remember the make up I was wearing here...
I Hate Straightening My Hair i Get So Nauseous From All The Heat And Smoke!! But i Like The Results, i Try Not To Straighten My Hair Too Often Because i Notice its Getting Really Dry Even Though i Do Use Heat Protectors..
One last thing. I've been using Royal Crown instead of, say, coconut oil. Royal Crown is the "grease" stuff Elvis used. It's actually not bad but too shiny in my opinion and I'm sure heavier than coconut oil.
I do not agree with chemical straighteners because it's just more unnecessary damage. In regards to the back of your head, just go slow, do small chunks of hair at a time, and try to not use anything oily, I prefer cremes or sprays, Tony and guy worked pretty well, however I did recently come across a heat protectant spray from dove which is really nice as well.. so apply it when your hairs damp and be generous and then let it air dry and then flat iron.. hope that helps!!!!
How long does it take you to straighten? And what do you mean when you say "if you find the product leaves too much on your hair"? My hair is medium length so it's hard for me to see the back. Any tips? Also, when I straighten mine, it feels a bit frizzy and puffy if I don't use any oil before. Is that normal?
Usually it takes me about 45 mins to flat iron.. and what I mean by leaving too much on your hair, is after putting creams or oils in your hair.. does it feel heavier? Is it greasy feeling? does it look like it's still wet from too much product? stuff like that.. cuz I absolutely hate the look when there's too much product in hair..
you did a grat job of explaining and demonstrating. I never thought of using coconut oil before straightening. what a great idea! In India, we normally apply oil for conditioning for a cople of hours before shampooing; I am going to try it before straightening. thanks. BTW, you are lucky to hae beautiful, healthy hair. enjoy it!
oh ok :) i'm indian so i soak my hair in coconut oil once a month, but i never thought about using as a heat protectant. i will definitely try it out!
@tetomareunafoto I actually don't use it anymore.. I prefer to use products that are strictly for heat protecting.. i use the coconut oil after I flat iron..
i love your hair it's just like mine ,before i cut it .please never cut your hair only the ends .deep condition at least every 2 weeks.keep away from bleach
love your hair! we almost have the same hair type. I think mine is significantly more coarse though. I've been experimenting w/ products for when I wear it curly
I think I'm gonna do a video on what I use when I wear it curly though but I'm not sure because sometime it turns out better than other times.. so we'll see!!
i have thick brown black hair i thinned it when i cut it but the product i use to help when straightening with a flat iron is called Jonathan hair care. It works really well.
Also how long does it take you to straighten all your hair? And what is the name of the container of castor oil you showed? I'm going to try coconut oil (bt had heard using coc oil b4 straitening can burn hair, is this true?) Thanks again.
To be honest, any oil that you put in your hair could potentially burn it.. even when you don't use oil.. applying any heat is burning your hair... I used a LITTLE bit of African Gold Castor Oil but usually use African Gold Coconut Oil, and most times I put it on after I've straightened..
I'm going to be doing a video on the different types of heat protectors to find out which one I would recommend so stay tuned!!
ur'e rite, even just flat ironing hair can damage. I still want to try little coco oil. I'll be keeping an eye out for your vid about best heat protectants. Thanks again.

And do you use hairspray, either water based or not?
DerekChaunessey 2 years ago
No I absolutely hate hair sprays! they only dry out my hair and make it look dull

LOL it doesnt really sound like something I would use :S If it makes your hair anything like how greasy Elvis' hair looked then I don't want it lol!!

@mulata54 If you use oil before you straighten your hair you will fry it. It's good that you don't do that anymore.
