  • I saw you on PBS and you got me FIRED UP! Just ordered your book/dvd and a drop spindle! Thank you so much!

  • Thanks for these videos! I'm a needle felter so I have lots of wool around, and wanted to try spinning. My first attempt was with a homemade support spindle, but I think it's not heavy enough so it didn't work well. I made a simple drop spindle, and spun my first yarn following your videos! It's slubby, but still yarn!

  • Amazing job at instructing! Thank you so much!

  • what happens at 7:23 when you unpinch the wool to wind it up? doesn't the twist jump into your undrafted wool? that is what happens to me every time I try this. same problem for when I put down the spinning to do some thing else. The undrafted wool keeps getting all messed up :,( please help

  • thank you so much, everything i wanted to know was covered, every single question, and i'm spinning faster than i thought i could on a drop spindle!!

  • wow. super helpful videos

  • should i wash the fiber before or after i spin it? (im using dog fur)

  • I have tried spinning but always ended up with uneven yarn...clumpy, hairy bits...well...just a mess. I always gave up. After watching part 1 & 2 of your tutorials today, I am happy to tell you that I have actually made some wool thread, after my first attempt, that I am actually proud of and will end up using. Now I can turn that +10 year old box of wool into something I can weave in my loom. I can hardly wait! THANK YOU!

  • Love your slow and relaxed style. Esp how you continue to reinforce the early steps of the instructions through the whole process. Hearing and reading the words really helps both types of learners. Thank you Thank you for adding trouble shooting. Cant wait to try this.

  • You've done a DVD now, right? I thought I saw that available on Interweave.... I have your book, "respect the spindle", and it's wonderful! So are these mini tutorials. Thank you SO MUCH~!

  • thank you thank you for the video. i posted a video response showing my first ever handspun. Thanks are not enough for this video!

  • Great video. I really like the way you explain things. Your descriptive style is easy to follow. Thanks a lot.

  • great tutorial, but Ihave a question, are you left handed? I do mine oppositely.

  • @SusanShriverHowell I was wondering the same thing because I do it the opposite way as well.

  • SUPER helpful, thank you! Keep making these great videos!

  • Excellent video. Text was hard to read occasionally, but nothing the pause button couldn't remedy. Thank you for posting.

  • Abby...You're my new favorite person. These vids are the BEST vids I've seen on spinning!

I've been thinking of spinning for a long time, and you've pretty much just set my heart on it.

    Thanks!

I'm wondering...are you on ravelry? if you are...will you be my big sister and mentor me? :D I ask a lot of questions bcuz I want to do it right...up for it?

  • I've downloaded this so I can keep playing it back. I'm brand new to spinning, but you have really hepled me get much more idea of what I should be doing.......all I've got to do is put it into practice!! Thank you for being such a wonderful help!

  • This is an awesome tutorial! Thanks so much. You make it look easy but I can tell that it takes practice - and probably patience - Thank you so for sharing these lessons with us - where I live there are no classes. I cannot even find a local source for cards. If it weren't for the internet I would probably be too intimidated to try to learn this. Your step-by-step instructions are just what I need! Many thanks!

  • Excellent instructions! More, more!

    and thanks, too.

    Roberta

  • Thank you for this video. One thing, it is hard to read the text on the video.

Otherwise, I think you did a great job!

  • I agree 100%. Very useful vid but some of the text flies by too quickly to read it :( But I am definitely sending this to all of my friends who claim they just can't spin on a spindle!

  • Unfortunately, with a 10 minute limit on youtube videos it's hard to lengthen some things at all. Good thing there's pause! Thanks for the feedback, which is great to have if I ever do something that isn't a free vid for YouTube!

  • Excellent!
