you allian from the bush wat u know about PHD U can even tell wat the "p" stands for u have been a nomadic from generation to generation.... saying bantu will not tell us who we are the question is who are??
How can he be well informed and still say that there were or are many languages in somalia? Bantus were the slaves brought onto Somalia during the early 1900's while somalis were in somalia more than 10,000 years ago. We are Homogenous because when you trace back the origin of the somali people, they came from the same people who setteld in the East. Even science prove that we are most homogenous people in terms of geneology wise than any other human beings on earth and that is a Fact.
This can be a source of confusion in the debate. That's why they came up with the term Somali Bantu--to refer to citizens of Somalia who are of Bantu origin.
thats true! i am a prau somali and i grew up in my homeland and my clan elders use to tell me about the somali history when i was a little kid, and then when i came to sweden i readed about it on the internet and on books, and everything that was about the Main history of somalia was true, that guy talking in the video is a bantu and he does not know enything about my people.
Over a period of many centuries, most hunting-foraging peoples were displaced and absorbed by incoming Bantu-speaking communities, as well as by Ubangian, Nilotic and Central Sudanic language-speakers in North Central and Eastern Africa. While earliest archaeological evidence of farming and herding in today's Bantu language areas often is presumed to reflect spread of Bantu-speaking communities, it need not always do so
The term Mai-Mai or Mayi-Mayi refers to any kind of community-based militia group active in the Second Congo War and its aftermath in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), formed to defend their local territory against other armed groups.
the racism of somalis always amazes me...they got to be more racist than white klu klux klan...no wonder their country like that; learn to love your brotehrs and god may forgive u weak ass racists
Yes it's a dialect, and many of the words are very different. You are correct on both counts. As for religion, I think there are more variations in religious practice or perspective than religion itself. But those variations can become quite important.
I am sick and tired of this fabricated history. Bantus are not indigenous of Somalia, they have been in our land for over a century. They were brought to Somalia by Arab slave traders and Arab slave owners who moved to the South of Somalia. Arabs and Bantus are not native Somalis they are people who moved to our land and many of them moved back to their countries after the war.
North Somalia never had Bantus, my father never saw a Bantu until he moved to Mogadishu.
No, none were indigenous to Somalia. This is a recent fabrication. If Bantus were indigenous to Somalia two things would have happened. First our language would have had Bantu influence and secondly they would not have sickle cell anemia. Bantus have that trait because they come from malaria stricken places, while Somalis and all Cushitis don't have it because they are indigenous to our dry arid region.
The reason I know for sure Bantus were not indigenous to Somalia is also the fact that Somalis had a history of killing anyone who encroached in our land. The practice ended two centuries ago. Arabs, whites and other Africans had to get permission first before they traveled to Somalia.
This shows you inhospitable. But as far as I am concerned what ever the background history is they are currently Somalians. That gives them the right to live there and be accepted. They have the right to move out naturally but not forcibly. Remember we're in the 21st century, where you can say to Kosovo Albanians are not indeginous to the land. Irrespective of the history, currently the Somali Bantus are Somalis and thus you have to accept them as your brothers that is what makes sense.
Somalisoulja87 is right. Majority of Maay Maay speakers are Somali ethnic people. The Bantu were brought to Somalia over a century ago from Mozambique, Malawi, Kenya and Tanzania through slavery. Most slave owners were in the South of Somalia where the Somalis spoke Maay Maay. After they were freed most did not move away and continued to live among those Somalis. A good percentage went to Mogadishu and they speak Somali. In Tanzania Somali Bantu were welcomed back and given land.
Maay Maay and Kizigua how many speak it ? most people in somalia are ethin somali and speak somalian 85% and r muslim 100% dont tell me there are christians in somali please (look it up). and u know most bantus came to somalia 200 year age and make up part of 15 % so they are not from somalia get over it. ps maay maay is apart of the east cushitic language family which mean it not the language of the bantus it is a dialect of the somali language.
When I was researching linguistic and educational marginalization, I found a very interesting paper by a different person (of same last name). You can google it online: Eno, Mohamed (2005). The Homogeneity of the Somali People: A Study of the Somali Bantu Ethnic Community. Doctoral Dissertation. St. Clements University, Mogadishu, Somalia.
As a Somali, I think we should stop putting the blame on Somali Bantus. Ofcourse this gentleman, Dr. Omar Eno is going to speak about the issue from his point of view, even if you dont agree with it. On numerous accounts I have heard my fellow Somalis, utter a racist remark that made me cringe, but they did it so, due to the nature inwhich they were brought up - to look down upon Bantus. Allah created us all as equal.
this dude is fucking ignorant bantus are tiny minority who make up less than 1 percent of population somalis are homogenous society although the bantu somali's suffered significantly somalia civil war.
I have great respect for this guy....I agree with everything he said..............THIS IS GOOD PROOF OF BANTU MEN EDUCATED UNDER SIAD BARRE RULE.........Did you see other video were the bantu homeboy claiming that he was denied to go to school because of he was a Bantu............Don't lie, American Government/CIA Know everything about us............
I produced the other video, too, so of course I saw it. I think you could find people expressing a wide range of views about Barre, but it is well-documented that Bantu villages were exploited by Barre, and destroyed by those that followed. Barre's ideology sounded good, but the practice was different. Even under slavery, some black Americans moved up, this does not negate the impact of slavery on the majority.
It is not well documented that Bantu villages were exploited by Barre. In fact, Barre tried to educate all and everyone, with over new 1000's of middle/high schools. He Wrote the Somali language, established the first time the Somali National University in 1971, fighted nercotic drugs call Kat. Barre had another vision rather setting up a fire between Bantus and Other Somalis. It was the West Arming the Somali tribes to get what you see Today. Know Barre is gone, the West must fix their mess..

By the way don't know that we'll go back somalia once we got the stablity in somalia? So? don't wanna go back and be part of the society? the question is how can u be part of Somalia? the Answer:--> not false occusations that the "som-jileec" abused and segragated u, but a clean-comeout of the reality, and that's if YOU want to be one us, not against us. take a note those black-american after 500 yrs they still live everyday-DISCREMINATIONS, if u think the whites give a fuck about u u mistaken!
I am absolutelty disgusted and outraged by this man's comments and I don't think that they reflect the majority of the som-bantus, it's a so easy to point fingers without a proof. I mean this occusations are false and ludicrous it disproofs every thing that somalis are about. This guy in the videos say that the "bantus rights are denied" really? and that we have "different religeon, and somalis are not homogenous" u need to know the difference b/w LANGUAGES N DIALOGS,..and hey we've 1 Religeon!
Is religion responsible of all our social ills? Are we so behind from the rest of the world because of our believe system? Where would we be today without religion? Which caused more damage to our people- the Arab cultural invasion or the white colonialism? Just wondering....
Kudos to you Professor Omar Eenoow. I absolutely agree with you that Somalis are diverse societies, each hailing from varied area. Somalis don't share similar language and culture. They share merely religion. They don't even share similar ancestor and one forebear. The fallacious argument that Somalis are homogeneous people is originated by individuals who had unusual interests and heinous agenda to dominate the politics of Somalia.
The Somali peoples, or those that the Somali language originates from are the Dir, Daarood, Hawiye, Isaaq and Ajuuraan. These people are believed to have migrated from Northern Somalia displacing Oromo tribes and are the true Somalis. The others are the Sab, Bantu and Banadiris. The Sab are related to the Somali as they are Cushetics!
Is religion responsible of all our social ills? Are we so behind from the rest of the world because of our believe system? Where would we be today without religion? Which caused more damage to our people- the Arab cultural invasion or the white colonialism? Just wondering....
Professor Omar Enow kudos to you. I absolutely agree with your contention. You're right, because Somalis are diverse societies. They don't share similar language, culture and encestary. Every clan has his own culture and genealogy. The argument that Somalis are homogeneous are fabricated from the outset. Professor Eenow keep up the good work.
keep seeking man but dont bother the somali ppl, start seeking where you originally came from and where your ppl live (mozambique, malawi and tanzania)
What two languages is he talking about? I totally don't understand his point. If he thinks Somalis are different people, then he should tell us what other people other than Somalis are there. Somali Bantus are Somali, they have been Somalis since their arrival on our river banks some 400 years ago, then what is the argument of this guy?
There are actually at least 3 languages in common usage in Somalia--Maay Maay, Zigua and Somali. All people born in Somalia can be seen as Somalis but, unfortunately, the majority ethnic group often persecutes Somali minorities. I am glad to hear that you accept the Somali Bantu as full-fledged Somalis. I hope others will come to do the same.
How can the somali bantu community been seen as fullfledged somalis?
You guys were slaves that came from mozambique, malawi and tanzania so go back there, because you will never get the same rights as the REAL somalis.
And why are you saying that we are not an homogeneous folk and that we have different societies? You guys were NEVER a part of our society and you will never be so stop talking shit about different societies and stuff.
Maay maay is your slavery language not the SOMALI language and is being used by your ppl and seen the fact you aren't somali we dont consider it as a language that is been used by somali ppl but by ppl who worked for the great somali ppl.
This man really got me upset, I feel the ppl dont take the somali ppl not serious anymore. How can these slave claim that he is a fullfledged somali. SUBHANNALLAH
My dad's best friend was Somali Bantu, they served on the same Brigade in the Somali National Defense Army, our both families interacted on daily bases, eat together on holidays and we never felt them different. I believe the best Somalis for friendship are Somali Bantus. I totally think it is not true to say they were persecuted in Siyad's era, they were many Somali Bantus that held high government posts.
