You all don´t know anything about flamenco, playing flamecto is a complete other technik than any other guitar, thats why this guy does things no one would do playing any other kind of music. Learnig to play flamenco is just like learning to play guitar from the begining.
As a guitarist for 6 years only just getting into flamenco and classical playing, I have a question though it's probably just an aesthetic one; do you have to keep the nails on your picking hand long or can you get the same technique and abilities with just the actual tip of your fingers? I realise this may sound silly, but it's just an odd peeve of mine to have long fingernails.
Your catclaw style seems to make your hand very tense. In my experience tenseness of the hand can be quite inhibitory. You gain a much more fluent motion by keeping your wrist and hand as relaxed as possible, this also reduces the risk of injury. I think it is very good advice to keep a bridge to your wrist and play with your fingers almost straight down - but I would add to keep your fingertips so relaxed that they bend on contact with the strings, use only the top muscles of the finger.
This technique seems like it can develop carpel tunnel syndrome. I have a habit of resting the low corner of my palm on the guitar. It's comfortable and efficient, but limits me from playing on all guitars as the have different bridge designs that hinder movement.
learning to control tone has nothing to do with nails, some ppl can use em, some ppl not, its just personal taste, not nail length, if u want proof, come look at MY thumb lol
@LSK100 you dont need too, but it help, the key is to hit the string where the nail and the flesh meet, if you could do that, you dont need long nails
Thanks Mario! Great job, i have been trying to learn the Picado technique for a while, but hadn't found any videoes that did it justice. Thanks for the great start!!

no seriously....is that important to have big nails on the right hand??
LSK100 2 years ago 2
ideally a flamenco guitar player should be able to control tone without nails, good tone comes from moderate length supernailed or silked nails!

They don't have to be huge, long enough to pick the strings.
Than comes the 'it's ugly' or if you play sports and can't have huge nails... i believe it's really up to your comfort.

I'm not a flamenco guitar player but your videos clearly present some other techniques that I can integrate into my playing.
