  • It is absolutely ridiculous that Federer lost this match.

  • No

  • The first forehand's swing path looks so SW.

  • its so funny that Roger keeps playing utterly stupid shots against nadal, despite he's the best shot choice maker of the game.

  • its weird, when you look at Fedal matches from around this time, federer is playing much better than he does today, nadal a bit worse, but federer seemed to have more trouble with the general match up back in the day?? just me?? i dunno.

  • @butterflycaught900 its because nadal runs faster last time and retrieve and Federer hit very well causing competitve match. Today's Fedal matches are short points and non-competitive. Today Nadal can't retrieve as well and Federer can't run.

  • How can some of you sit here and act like you know federer? he's stubborn? dude please just be quite and let federer play, im sure fed knows more about his own backhand than you morons

  • @R10LM19 iam agree

    federer is the best!!!

  • I hate this fucking son of slut Federer, i hate his attacking and aggressive style, and he also has fuckng killing eye, it seem like he is bad and cruel person who like attacking people. I hope he will die in pain and go to hell. Nadal tried to defend himself rather than attack others, so i like nadal. He tried to use too much power to attack nadal, that is why he get tired very fast, so i think he completely deserved to lose and i hope he will never get back to number 1 again.

  • @chhunvorn your comment makes me lol so much

  • Damn Fed got beaten in hard courts by Nadal in 2004,05 and 06 (the best years of Fed)

  • @copavida but not on GRASS

  • @copavida 05? he was not beaten on a hard court in 2005 by nadal?

  • nadal didnt beat federer on hard courts in 2005, I see your point, tho

  • Haha, I like how all the old videos of Nadal and Federer before 2007 look like they were filmed in the 80's.

  • 0:40 CORD BALL!! Pure luck while my cord balls are aimed for :DDD

  • How did federer lose this? He hit too well in the first set. Same story again, leading the match and getting tired against nadal.

  • @Baddieko oh shut up. you cant get where federer did and losing a third set or fifth set because he was too tired. why the fuck dont you gaydarer fans man the fuck up for once and admit Nadal just outplayed him.. and for that matter is the better player.

  • @pistolpete58 sure if by "better player" you mean "main rival has a one handed backhand"

  • @butterflycaught900 nadal has a two handed backhand. and that doesn't mean jack, the two greatest players of all time, Sampras and Federer both have very effective one handed backhands, Federer moreso than Sampras.. it's all just a mental block Fed has against Nadal and the fact Rafa steps it up when it counts more often than Fed does.

  • @pistolpete58 maybe in your fantasy world of sports cliches. in the real world it is a technical issue. nadal beats federer because high backhands (often above shoulder height) are impossible to hit efficiently with a one hander. nadal can go to feds backhand constantly and do easy damage.

  • @butterflycaught900 that's not true if it was how come blake could beat him so easily although he has a one handed backhand and nadal used the same strategy the problem for federer is that his backhand is too complicated if he at least shortened it similar to how blakes is at least against nadal he could take it early and have no problems with the spin but he is quite stubborn

  • @9tails23 that's right i should have clarified, federers eastern grip is terrible for playing high balls. a more extreme grip like kuerton's would have done well against nadal

  • @butterflycaught900 you are absolutely correct, its the high backk hands that fed cant handle

  • It's not that he got tired, he just lost it mentally. That happens late in matches for Fed

  • @SteveAugeriRocks lol this was in 2006

  • @SteveAugeriRocks maybe thats a small factor..but fed is so strong mentally i dont think that was the case here. compare nadals shot depth in the first set to the shots in the second and third set..in the second and third they are more deep and give fed so much more trouble.

  • Great match, these two will always be my favourtie match up on a tennis court for their champion mentality and class..

Superb movement, the swisses leathal and sharp play versus the great athletiscsm of a young Nadal.. awsome stuff, nothing matches it.

  • Great match, with two all time greats. Yeah, it looks to me as well, that Rog's forehand has changed a lot since than, it's a much shorter move nowadays, with more spin, it's a more safe shot now. I really liked the old one wich is a riskier shot, but it didn't seem he missed more back than, maybe he had more time to implement it, i don't know. But the backhand got better, it's a much more stabil shot these days. Allez Rog!

  • This is AMAZING tennis. The rallies between these two incredible players have is so intense to watch it's hard to tell who'll win the point because both players are great in defense. If you watch there movement both players have a wicked anticipation of where the ball is going.

  • What changed in sets 2 & 3 was the backhand started landing shorter.

  • Amazing video, Fed's racket head speed looked a little more lethal than it does these days and he moved a tiny bit better back then, especially to balls hit wide to his forehand, here, he punishes quite a few of those but today he typically sends back a short, defensive reply. His backhand slice looks a little crisper, stays lower than it currently does. Rafa won this match with tenacity and topspin, that and, Fed stopped attacking. He knows not to ever let up against Rafa but he did here.

  • Interesting Federer's racquet head looks very big compared to any other video i've seen, he should try one like this again, his racquet head is tiny now.

  • @artikelmusic he's using the same 90 sq inch head. and no, a guy of roger's stature has no business possibly ruining his muscle memory

  • @cj397 Erm i never mentioned anything to do with his muscle memory, so i dont know what you are talking about, the bigger the racquet head, the bigger the sweet spot thats all.

  • @artikelmusic that's too dangerous to a pro's career and playing skills. doesn't seem like much but it's a huge change

  • Its was very big...in the first set, R.F was played so great. Nadal said that he couldn't touch the ball, but after, he won the two next...always winner, but it's fun to see how a match can change and for many matchs...

  • Just amazing to see roger attacked the net so often and just how successful he was at it which is a good thing and was a good tactic but i really don't what happened that he suddenly changed it to play rafa game of baseline tennis which favours rafa with his topspin shot to his backhand.

I am sure that if roger goes to the net a lot more and quicker but on good approach shots then he would have a lot more success against rafa, you need variety to beat him and not get into a pattern of play.

  • Nadal drogón

  • @MattyOyola21 envidia

  • this video is sooooo one-sided.

at least we saw who the winner was in the end cuz without that everybody would suggest that Roger won.

    next time be more objective;-)

  • @joeygreece i´not really sure if i agree with you.i think that all good points, from both parts, rafa and roger.it is objective
