@fixierider97: The job originates in West Oakland Yard, and switches at East Oakland Yard, too, so it gets cars from either yard. As for its current schedule, it seems to head to and from Melrose (F010) around dusk and later, but I do not know exactly which days it runs.
@fixierider97: Yup, this job still runs, without the coil cars, and less predictable schedule. The job will request the dispatcher to flag the signal at CP Melrose (F010) in both directions, so it's usually easy to know when they are out and about.
Hey Engineer Sievers - best (ex-SP) RR'er of the Roseville Division (and greater Bay Area)! Too bad UP forced him into extra board house arrest this last year. FYI, this job used to use the parallel ex-SP landside drill track right next to the ex-WP Oakland Sub Main alongside San Leandro BLVD. IIRC, UP dug up the old rickety drill track in early 2008 adding in all new switches off the ribbon rail mainline track to serve the (few) remaining industrial spurs in East Oakland.
The Locomotive looks like one of the GP35s or GP40s I don't know which because I can't tell them apart do they have any distinguishing cherecteristics?
The easiest way to tell is to look at the exhaust fan housings on the top of the long hood. GP35's have a small one between two larger ones, while GP40's have three in similar sizes.
There is no need for a radio issued track warrant on the Oakland Sub, its all CTC. The symbol is YOA82R, and does work in E. Oakland and just south/east of F010. Doesn't pass F015 yet.

Awesome Video!! 5 Stars and a Favorite for me! So if I guessed right, this runs out of the Oakland Yard (East or West?), down the Oakland Sub at Melrose, and back. Does it go as far as the Fremont Yard, just before Niles Jct? One more question (sorry lol), do you know the local's symbol?

I did some research just now, and I think the symbol is YOA82.
The Oakland Sub was originally WP (Western Pacific), then became UP by merger, more than a decade before UP bought SP. Technically, you can say it was in SP territory, because WP and SP tracks paralleled each other through Altamont Pass, to the Central Valley, and beyond.
are you aware of the schedule of this train and how often it runs? One more thing is where does it get the cars from? Thanks!

I also miss the conductor that worked with him. He was pretty funny on the radio.

@cchan006 And now you know that said "conductor" on the radio on the Long Street Job is actually the engineer!!! ;)

@espeeboy: Yeah! Thanks always for very accurate information, and a bit of railfan craziness.

i had no idea that the old WP was still up and running. i thought it was abandoned when UP merged with SP.
