I've spent a few summers as a swamper on the TwOtter in Labrador. Definitely one of my favorite planes of all time! Great video! I am so happy Viking is keeping it alive!!
@mrobs4688 So do it, whats holding you back? Usually any small airport has a flight school, and it is more reasonable than you think to get your pilot license
The first 400 off the production line flew a few days ago. This is the first flight of the "tech demo", which was, as it's name suggests, a series 300 Twin Otter which incorporates all of the engineering changes made to the design that define a series 400. It's been rebuilt from the ground up with all new parts from the same production line, Same Honeywell Apex cockpit instrumentation, same composite structures incorporated into the design. This aircraft is the literal definition of a series 400
Used to fly series 300 here in Texas for a commuter airline. Most fun airplane and best job I ever had. Wish I could fly one now. Loved the 1000 hours I got in them.
Actually dude she is! Now someone correct me if im wrong but this one WAS (ser#001) was rebuilt from a wrecked bird but basically the only thing them kept was the data tag. Everything was built from scratch, but all with newly made jigs, so after the construction has been proven and the type certs are issued Viking can rattle off 400s like there's no tomorrow!
good thing for fast foward

Am i the only one who thinks it's odd that they would do the first flight on amphibs instead of wheels?

Too bad this isn't actually a 400 series...its just a greatly updated 300. The actual 400 just flew a few days ago

Actually, it is new. Hence the Series 400 tag.
I work for Viking Air. I helped to build this plane from scratch.
