evil can't exist outside of our minds, and we all know not to be afraid of our thoughts, right? there's real, then there's literal interpretation of poetry, which would you believe? The judgement of religion brings out the very worst in the "faithful."
hey optimustime you must be very blind my friend. religion is power, the power to control millions of people by scaring them into thinking if they dont believe what you do then your gonna go to a damned place. religion is nothing but power. open your eyes to all the CONSEQUENCES that will happen from this. no religion is right or wrong, god didnt intend for religion because thats separation. if there was a god he intended exactly what this song states
I agree I think about it everyday what if we lived without religion ever in existance? Its been said that people used to believe in only god in the days of Atlantis and the teachings of higher consciousness was the School of God so they called it. I most definately believe this. It was also said that people on an average lived up to 100 years old and they didn't charge each other for their services and works together in their economies. They were in total peace in harmony, we need that again.
I believe in god, but the belief in god doesn't have to signify that i'm in any specific religion, because as it has been said, religion has done a lot of harm
God created man. Man created religion. God has no need for religious actions or dogma or self disseminating actions such as how many fingers you cross yourself with or which way you face when praying or if you eat pork or not. God cares about one thing only. That you are not hypocritical towards yourself and others.
That having been said... One of the greatest Iced Earth songs... Is there an official video somewhere or even a AMV video of this song?
@BuddyOverThere Actually seeing as Nickelback lyrical focus is very similar to this song. I don't blame him for the connection. How ever, the music it's self comes nothing close to Nickelback...
spread the word people the U.S. government is NOT the cause of our problems yeah bush started the war and this "recession" so what look at our history the people before us had it worse than us no the government isn't out problem WE are the problem WE are the cause of global warming because most of this worlds population choose too pollute the air and the land with harmful toxins from smoking and factories WE ARE KILLING THE WORLD AND OURSELF THE TIME FOR CHANGE IS NOW..HATE ME BUT U HAVE 2 AGREE
@Torlof108...no, the US isn't the problem, but I think maybe you should start your revolution against bad grammar. Global warming is BS, but all these conspiracies that Jon is now into are also BS. We have a liberal socialist as president that blames Pres. Bush for EVERYTHING. Bush and Obama are NOT the same, not even close. Uh-bama will be gone in threee so it doesn't really matter.
Ive listened to Iced Earth since I was 8 and can happily say Ive never been disappointed in them. On a side not enot all songs have to have a holy war in the form of comments posted spamming the comment space. Then again I suppose they'd get no comments that way. Enjoy the music
Ive only been listening to them for a a year or so now and they are my favorite band and ive listened to every song and not a single one disappointes! I was even at the concert in chicago that hosted the return of the true voice of Iced Earth MATT BARLOW! it was epic =)
I love the part about true freedom...i thought alot about it before i heard this song...we need it in this world, the freedom to leave everyone alone, help and start to see the bigger in life...human life, and the bigger point (watever it means to u, be it religion, ideals, or just doing your own thing)
leave alone what must be alone. but help were you must, think.
Not really actually, Eventually we'll either have to come up with the technology to synthesize the resources we're using up, Find other fuel sources, Make them, Or, Travel to other planets to bring back Oil and other things, If it's even there.
But untill then, Yeah, It's pretty pointless really.
Can you imagine a world without religion and racism? There would be imagination and space exploration left to focus on!
Can you imagine the human race coming together and exploring the universe as one? I can't wait! The golden age is here and it is the age of enligtenment!
world without religion and racism? that sure would be a Utopy...
but this song is great with the lyrics, because is our fate... we're destroyin all...and this is not just our world, even a lot of animals that lives here too!
and if you didn't notice, when the Spaniards came to conquer the Aztecs, Indians were enslaved, as a racist jester. They were enslaved and forced to be christens. please note i do not capitalize "christens"
I have noticed your grammatical (and spelling) error. And do you really think that the Spainards had their whole heart towards doing the will of God? It seems to me that they worked for their own benefit. You are being prejudiced when you use them as an example of all Christians.
is it? religion is the number one killer of the billions dead from ancient times, mideval crusades, and modern bombings. muslims have kill infidels in their holy book. Jews have take israel from the muslims to get to heaven in theirs. lets not forget what christian colonists did to indians. im not leaving this to get into a bible battle. im leaving this so all of you can see that religion should never be organized and fundamentalists are irrational idiots.
You're still assuming thats actually part of their religion. have you read the Bible or the Q'uran? Millions in history have exploited others in the name of religion. But when you study the religion, you find that it almost never says kill other people so that you can live better. The true enemies of religion are the hypocrites within.
billions? remember the world population has only exploded in the last few hundred years. Millions maybe, but the biggest single killer would actually be russia's athiestic communism which was responsible for about 110 million deaths. You talk as its religion itself which is the killer but I think its more people who misinterpret it, if religion wasnt there they'd just misinterpret something else.
Religion IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL. People should worry more about living their lifes peacfully as each days passes. We all get one day closer to ending up in the same spot after its all said and done, and that would be six foot under.
I am Cathollic by the way, maybe not a good one! but I live in peace every day of my life.
@y4utalktome hmmm good point, but personally i think that money is the root of all evil, religion is the ideal behind the evil, but it all comes down to money in the end, because money is power.
Very true. One has to remember however, all the dirt poor bastards in the middle east that don't have a pot to piss in but plenty of time and energy to fight each other.
Either way, Religon, especially mixed with monetary benefit equals disaster.
@optimustime I couldn't resist a reply. From the top comment most all religious problems come from extremists who, like megalomaniacs make there own rules. based on corrupt desire to control. Terrorists are psychologically dysfunctional. Problems don't come from decent people who know right from wrong and who are truly religious. It was blind fear and greed that massacred the Indians; not by religion as a whole if at all. To me the whole earth is a quote holy land for every decent person.
@optimustime You know what the biggest cause of death is, numero uno, among EVERY race, layer of society and even species? Life itself. Hate to be a pessimist, but the entire universe "runs" on destruction and reassimilation of itself. We, for one, are part of the universe. And once we die, we will return to living tissue, in different forms. To be killed again. Or kill. Depends. Nevertheless, this will keep happening, until the expansion of the universe makes "life" impossible. Sounds fun huh?
@GydoKamst agh but you are not a real pessimist unless you take the view that life is not worth prolonging, even that an instant death would be preferable to lifing out your years, personaly, if i had a big red button that would un make all of existance, so nother exists or ever existed ever anywhere, without there even being an anywhere for it to exist in, i would press it without hesitiation, existance is a crime, existance is hell, just my opinion
@optimustime Billions? Your heart's in the right place but you're exaggerating too much and it makes your point unfair. You also have to understand that people wage war for greed, power and expansion, whether it be in the name of their god or not. I mean, Inquisitions and Crusades were in the name of god, but that was in a time where hardly anyone understood or questioned the Bible and it ruled by fear. I agree with you entirely, just make sure your argument is a fair one.
@optimustime Religion ahahahahahahaha.. You must be crazy.. So your conclusion is that if there was no religion there wouldn't be so much killing?!?! You are so shortminded.. Of course that there would be killing as mush as with religion "As human beings, we're a complex thing, Sometimes so beautiful, other times so vain"!!! It's about power man, not religion... And I am leaving this so you and others can think about it.
@MrFlagTube You are blind man. Let us start at christianity. How many billions if not TRILLIONS of bodies do they have in their closet in their history. Hitler killed 6 MILLION jews in his death camps in four years. You know what. The christians have slaughters over the same amounts of time that double and triple that amount. Let me go to the obvious one....SPANISH INQUISITION!!!! religion is a power grab when it becomes a doctrine and a dogma that you feel you have to inflict on others.
@optimustime "Faith, can be liberating and refreshing, or restricting and enslaving, it all depends what form it takes. A faith that becomes a dogma, something you feel you have to preach and force on others isn't a faith at all, it is simply a tool u believe you can use to control others."
