@Snowintosh You don't have the Russian flag? Please Everyone check this guy profile to see. Che Guevara was an assassin murderous communist beast who help Fidel Castro to power in Cuba. Un fucking Guerrillero hippie. Sorry buddy Puerto Rican we love freedom not communist tendency or dictatorship government.
u people have no pride in who ur, PR as culture and history way before the us got involved, why wouldnt u ppl want ur own identity as pr, why do u want to be seen as americans so badly are u ashamed of being pr? why wouldnt u want to be independent? why be a slave to another country? its disgusting, when u ppl say stuff like that its as if u feel that being just pr is inferior to being american so therefore we must be seen as americans n not just pr, u ppl got no sense of pride or independence.
@boynton20 this is so true but remember there is a pro independence party and an lots of people that dont want statehood like myself im not ashamed of being puertorican and i want PR to become independent,
We dont need to be in the US.. So lets go back.. money is relative, education is too!! If I knew how to speak spanish.. I wouldnt be here!!! People in the US struggle for nothing!! Its all a FALLACY!!!
Actually we have been fighting along side Americans since the American Civil War. During the mid-19th century, Puerto Ricans residing in the United States fought in the American Civil War.
Lieutenant Augusto Rodriguez (born c. 1835), was a Puerto Rican who served as an officer in the Union Army during the American Civil War.
After 1898 we have fought alongside them in every conflict that Americas has been involved.
@Taina5111 We've been involved farther back than that. Under the leadership of Brigadier General Ramón de Castro and the Spanish Governor of Louisiana Bernardo de Gálvez, we fought against the British during the American Revolutionary War.
If i were puerto ricans , i will vote for a statehood , 51st state of USA , ....voting for independence is a fatal mistake...Im a Filipino our country before was a commonwealth state and we voted for independence.... look us now we are the poorest in the region with dumb and corrupt politician that WE INHERITED FROM OUR SPANISH MASTERS.....and hey look also Mexico a former spanish colony
@jerrycrus Hawaii became a state, and nothing good came from it. The indigenous people are treated like scum in their own islands, illiteracy and poverty rates are sky high, the drug problem is unbelievable, and Statehood did nothing to help this. Viva Puerto Rico Libre!
its up to you my friend ,. i will congratulate you anyway if this coming plebesite won by statehood or independence.. but remember this quote from our former commonwealth prersident Manuel Quezon
"I would rather have a country run like hell by Filipinos than a country run like heaven by the Americans. .
@jerrycrus Sorry buddy Filipinos haven't give us a good example to follow. Number one why Filipinos rather speak English than their native language or Spanish even though your last name are identical as ours. Number two why are so many filipinos living in USA specially in California. I rather live in heaven than follow your people in Hell. Good luck in Hell!
@puertorricanstar Want an Independent Republic? There are over 200 free Republics in the world, including the USA, move out to anyone you choose. We're not ejecting anything, we're accepting what we truly own and what we truly are: US Citizens and Puerto Ricans. That's well recognized universally and under our US Constitution and the Constitution of the "ELA" of Puerto Rico. Thank you, goodbye.
Most North Americans are so ignorant to the Puertorican history. I mean, who are the North Americans today? They are an evolution of German, Irish, English and Native Indians, etc...
I was at the airport once and had a North American (redneck obvious) that had the nerve to ask me, 10 years ago, if we had technology in PR. What a joke... Do have an idea of how many puertorican engineers work at NASA? Come on, for crying out loud!
The answer is a definite yes. As an American I am so embarassed that so many don't know the answer to that simple question. What are they teaching in the schools nowadays? No wonder we're the laughing stock of the world.
Not only is sad that american citizens are not educated enough to know that us Puerto Ricans have been citizens since the "Jones Act of 1917", but that they still us the word immigrated into Continental of United States. We relocate just as anyone in any of the 50 states will relocate from one state, terretory. With that said we're U.S. born citizens.
Statehooder supporters compares Puerto Rico to other Latin countries, and how PR it has a better economy, etc. The truth is that Puerto Rico cannot be compare to other countries because technically its part of the US, to compare PR to other countries is like comparing Long Island, NY to Russia or another country, the fact that they need to compare PR to other US territories, and PR is one of the most poorest Territories in the US. Poorer then Mississippi, and Richer then American Samoa.
Another fact, is that if people in PR want to become 51st state, then they should also include Guam, American Samoa, Marina Islands, and US Virgin Islands. Those are other territories part of US, who just as PR also has the right to be part of US. Imagine how much would that cost US to bring other territories as states. Not favorable if the average american is educated on this topic. I can go on and on and make good debate how becoming a state is very costly.
Learn Our REAL history, not the nice fairy tale shit that the americans let you learn in school, research it, and if you dont feel like it, stay ignorant, but dont come cryin to me when Usa goes to Martial Law and concentraition camps, theyve done it before to "US Citizens" during world war 2, Remember how they locked away ever japanese? even if they were born here? o wait, u prolly dont, since you dont know anythin about history, i rest my case, Viva PR Libre!!
Statehood? are you mad? dosent matter if you served in the armed forces, if you really defend FREEDOM you would fight for the freedom of the Puerto Rican People, who are Puerto Rican by culture language and history, a history that goes way back before the US even Existed, Puerto Ricans Need To Be a FREE Independent Nation, not a suck up to the americans asking for more and more money, Make Your Own, and if you consider yourself american move to or stay in the USA , u dont know ANYTHING about PR
This video is only stating the ignorance about PR . You can see it in the lack from PR while coverage for the states is normal. Americans in the mainland tend to treat us as illegal immigrants or underserving of any rights we legally have here or there. That is a fact and only educated people know t. The sample was small and targeted ignorant, uneducated people. Just watch Jay Leno's Jay Walking section when you can while he still has a show. Ignorance is ignorance.
I hate this political analfabetism. I am a Puerto Rican, I am also a Nationalist. Statehood? Forget this, I wont discuss it... Learn the real story of Puerto Rico, then come talk to me people. And it is true, sadly, we were given the citizenship like 3 months before WW1 started and we where always the first on the front. It is insulting...
I agreed with most of the people talking about PR becoming state of US. Anyway We have lost the island to foreigners and not longer have control on the island.
I am boricua and I think that PR should be state because of all the wars we have fought and the many ways we have helped US. I cannot believe people still believe in independence wile they know that PR will end up like Haiti or Dominican Republic if so. 77% of PR's income comes form the US.
What are you talking about? 1st of all you just admitted that PR will become a poor country if we become independent by insulting me that I will be one of those with inflated bellies like in Africa (thats where most poor people in the world leave). 2nd Give up on the idea PR will become the "new republic"
I mean to say that with your self-defeating attitude you will become a starving, poor, helpless, third-world man/boy. It is not an insult, it is a fact that from what you say that you are self-defeating. Besides, US is NOT going to give PR any statehood. The US doesnt want a bunch of freeloaders becoming eligible for ALL FREE benefits and draining yet more money from the US legitimate tax payers. Dont be part of the "arrodillados" and "vendepatrias",and pityanquis. Keep dreaming.
