  • that was awesome lol

  • you need to keep the background the same it is extreamlly distracting. hard to know what your saying and kinda offensive to deaf people...

  • @mayberryful1 no its not.

  • This is the first time I watched a video like this and to be honest, I'm quite impressed. Loved how you did the entire video. Keep up the great work :)

  • This. is. the. best. video. on. youtube.

  • yall r both very cute

  • 1:41 in my bath room lol

  • remember to put it in ASL form......time, topic, description. put it in this order and it will be an awesome song.

  • use more facial expression. this was a good attempt to sign in ASL form but it turned out in Pidgeon form which is english sentencing with ASL signs. try putting the song into ASL form and giving it some really good facials to match the feel of the song and then it will be ASL form.

very good attempt at signing in ASL.

  • please dont banging your head by ur hands. you dont have to sucide yourself.

  • Not to be a hater or anything but a trumpet only have three buttons...Lol :)) well good vid

  • You guys did a really great job for only being second year students :) I know that facial expressions are a must, but I think it's almost fitting with the nature of the song ; )

  • Really cool video even with not GREAT signing and lack of facial expressions. Lots of other positives that make this a fun ASL video... look forward to checkin out more of your guys' stuff.

  • Why so serious-sah!

  • Wow :D That's so cool! :D You did pretty good for not knowing alot of signs.

  • I really liked this and yes i noticecd the stoicness but again you guys are working on it and this was very well put together

  • I've been studying on my own for two years...you guys rock more than I do!!

  • AWESOME!

  • really good. Yall work so well together :) keep it up! :)

  • use more expression!!!

  • @CPchamp1 I like the expressionless faces, it gives the song an interestign feel to me

  • If you would make a tutorial for the the first part to 0:58 I know a lot of people would love you!

  • Very good video! And good signing for only two years!

  • You guys just look bored. :\

  • I loved this[=

  • For all who commented about my expression, I know it is a HUGE and very IMPORTANT part of Deaf culture. This video was very fast paced and we recorded it at a very low level of knowing ASL. We were not thinking to much of the expressions becuase we were primarily just doing it for fun. Thanks.

  • p.s. we arre both right-handed, my computer just records opposite.

  • Very good, but the facial expressions are so huge in the Deaf community that it is Key to use them at all times!

  • Thats my sister

  • So..... as mentioned before.... FACIAL EXPRESSION is KEY for deaf people. I have a deaf brother and know how important it is for the facial expressions to be there... as well as the fact that I am on my way to becoming a deaf education teacher... so IF you are going to sign facial expression counts LOTS.

@ LoleexRU: They might have videoed this on a MAC which is what I operate with... MAC has somehow made it where pictures and videos are reversed from how normal cameras take.

  • Are both of you left-handed?

  • i c you've both been praticing alot. where are the smiles and personality. all i just see is hands moving. BORING. work on that.

  • the signing was good, but facial expressions.

that's really all I have to critique

  • this is a cool idea for the video to do it as a team. however, as an interpreter for the deaf-i must say that facial expression is huge. the deaf need use it as grammar and contexual tools. other than that, and some misused/incorrect signing it was good.

im not trying to sound harsh, i know you're still in 2nd year of learning. stay encouraged! it's an awesome language, and you're already on a great start to fluency.

    =]

  • Really great job, one question though, when ever this song comes on do you sign w/ it?

  • I think you guys did a great job and I know how much focus it takes, but I'd suggest smiling or something at the very least - facial expressions are so, so important!

  • OMg love the video but actully during the 3:27 min it wasn't a piano playing it was a 5 strings violin/viola

  • you guys are very good at signing smoothly, esspically in the fast timing. it was really creative too :) way to go. only tip i can think of is to use expressions. keep it up!

  • Its inspiring to see the internet used for creative expressive and learning rather then just an aid for de-evolution of mankind. Can you do more songs in ASL, ive always wanted to learn and this is a great way to do it.

  • Thats my sister

  • lol you guys did good :D random

  • omg you guys are sooo good i wish i could do that

  • Wow, all that commenting and I forgot to thank the signers! You can see Banerika and I are interested in the specific sign! LOL.

You both did wonderful job. I found the duet approach interesting. I prefer no special effects but this is me.....

    MORE!!! Please!! MORE!!!

  • What sign are you using for Holocaust?

  • Looked like "sin" to me and repeated a few times. Assuming I got the right part of the song...Lol!

    Scott

  • That's interesting. I read in Ally's (AllyBallyBabe) comments for her interpretation of this song, that she chose to sign "sin" instead of holocaust because she did not know the sign for holocaust. Hmm.

  • I have never had to use the word holocaust any time I have ever signed. I personally would probably fingerspell out the entire word but that wouldn't work in a song.

Has anyone ever seen a sign for "holocaust"? I really don't know if ASL instructors are saying it should be signed as "sin" (which it is!) or if there is an ASL dictionary somewhere with a specific sign for "holocaust" in it.

    Scott

  • In Ally's newest version, she fingerspells it. She is a lot quicker in her signing now! I have about 5 ASL dictionaries and none of them have a sign for holocaust in it.

  • I really think that unless you teach about the holocaust specifically such as in a history class, there is probably not a general sign used. I guess:

"awful sin" or "worse sin" is probably the closest I can come to a sign.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Scott

  • Well, specifically for this song, the lines refer to guiding a missile by satellite in order to "end the planet in a holocaust." I would take that to mean blow up the world, so that's what I would have signed something like "World, I can destroy. How? Explosion." As for signing holocaust, perhaps it is always fingerspelled. We have to ask a history professor!

  • Really...Ally is actually fingerspelling "holocaust" then she adds in ASL "you know the jews the nazi killed" so I had thought that the song was about the fact that the singer had the potential to be the greatest evil person (a la Hitler) or the greatest good person (a la Mother Theresa) for example.

Damn, I miss a lot not hearing the words....!

    Scott

  • You're not missing anything--that *is* what the song is about. : )

  • I asked my teacher how to sign holocust and she said "jewish" "evil", but I did not know the correct sign for jewish. also, it's very fast.

  • holocaust: Great destruction resulting in the extensive loss of life, especially by fire

In this particular use of the word "holocaust", a reference to the WWII holocaust would not be appropriate. I think Banerika is closer to the meaning here. You could just sign explosions and fire, making use of space and signs that show destruction and eradication as the word repeats.

  • hmm.. well "inappropriate" is a strong word. Whenever you use the word "holocaust" you know there is going to be overtones of the nazi genocide, that is part of why it is such a powerful word... but I wouldn't say it was the primary meaning in this usage... :)

  • Everyone has given an opinion about "holocaust". Almost everyone thinks it should be signed a different way. We just took the easiest route and signed evil.

  • @kayceepants so what is the actual meaning of the sign using a crooked index finger?

  • @mrarmaggedon31415926 Like a hook? That's the letter x.

  • @iambored71717 no the sign they use during 'holocaust'

  • I think you might want to be very careful signing "holocaust" in this way... it could easily be misunderstood as a negative comment or slur.... spell it or say what happened ie. WWII, Nazis kill+++ Jews many

  • 5/5 and favored! this is awesome!! lol

  • This is a good attempt. You look really bored. No facial expression. Good job though!

  • its good, it looks alot of allyballybabe's tho. Did you interpret your own way or just do hers?

  • I actually didn't even know someone else had signed it until after I put it up. We interepreted it ourselves, hahaha, not very well tho.

  • Awesome great job who us the song by
