I've been playing 5-string banjo (both bluegrass and clawhammer) for over 30 years now, but folks of this caliber who play the tenor and plectrum banjo never cease to amaze me. Great rendition of this old jazz standard, thanks for posting it. Wow!
Where has this banjoist been? And are there any recordings? This is a very sweet "Avalon" and the banjo playing reminds me of San Francisco's Scott Anthony and his small groups that have delighted listeners over the years. Scott not only plays banjo, but also pedal bass at the same time in some settings.
So, kudos to Steve Caddick! I'll be watching for more.
Fantastic performance on all parts. bass and guitar held the bottom and harmony while the banjo was everywhere. I liked the sustained chord melody on the guitar. It created a nice balance to the flying note solo on the banjo. Great job guys.
