3:54 'freeze it' (i love that shit)

yeah but seriously these women that do these demos really dont need the dramatics

5:04 im gonna have ta agree with this

  • The first women was more of a gymnastics/circus performer. I agree the next two competitors were over the top with their yelling, but they had far better stances and controlled strikes and blocks than china did. And if you watch China carefully, her kicks look more like something a cheerleader would do. Not to mention all that spinning is just wasted energy.

On the street, fights don't look pretty, and not what I would call "artistic." Everyone needs to quit watching so much damn TV.

  • Non of these seemed particularly "street lethal". The crazed yelling would be far more intimidating than the prancing and snapping. But whatever. I'm with you. People should street fight more, watch TV less.

  • @milkagon You've made some good points but honestly this is a kata tournament, so visuals do play an important enough part.

  • Partially, not so much the visual as technique is displayed. Is their knee bent in that stance? Do they snap on those kicks? Is their body turned on that roundhouse? Are their punches aimed to the body or head instead of willy nilly? You lose all your basics, then it doesn't matter how "pretty" anything looks. Even in a pattern or kata competition, these very things are what the judges are looking for. It's too bad the "spin to win" theory works sometimes.

12 years of TaeKwonDo & referee

  • @milkagon Absolutely, I'm not disagreeing on the placement of the 3 competitors, and I can't agree enough that all the spinning is wasted energy (at least against a decent opponent). I'm not one to watch a kata tournament and all that yelling I just find funny.

  • @Maddolis The yelling and their facial expressions are pretty funny... it's definitely not normal.

  • 1:43-1:48
