Do you ever fish wonky holes, Greg? You probably already know, but if your not familiar with what they are, wonky's are a type of undersea hole or spring, out of which comes fresh water that has flowed underground from the land
, and fish like the nannygai love to hang around them. I was fishing a few the other day in 30 meters of water and the results can be pretty impressive. There are quite a few around up here on the reefs off Mossman - you just have to do some searching with the sounder.
I have heard of them before, we fish alot of small isolates, small reefs, and shoaly patces. These are out about 80 to 100 kilometres so doubt there wonky holes? But great fishing,
Was a horse, but our best is about the 12kg Mark, and have had a few Nannygai around the 10 kilo mark, average is about the 5 to 6 mark, good eating at that size, and they go hard alright pulling them out of the deep,
Top Nannygai at over 10kg, although we did land another largemouth Nannygai, which went 12kg the other day, biggest I've seen on the Great Barrier Reef, for this species, feel free to post if you have caught a bigger one,

My biggest is at the 6 - 7 kg mark, and he fought hard. That must have had some power!
