Just to make it clear. This whole Spider-Man project is very very old. At that time I was a total beginner in Maya, just messing around.For an accurate measurement of my current skills, please check my latest Iron Man scene.

Maybe someday I'll make a new Spidey... or Spidey vs. Iron Man who knows :)

Good ol' IK popping. Use IK only when the hand(s) have to to stay in contact with something.

FK will produce the strongest poses.

Nice job, a modeling criticism if you will. His shoulders aren't deforming right, you should check your geometry and compare it with one that works to see how the geometry should deform in that area, otherwise it will look like its deflating. Keep up the good work.

Approximately 5000 dollars. They used to have a free personal learning edition that is basically a limited (but still very powerful) version of the real thing but it was discontinued late 2008. I do believe that it is still possible to get your hands on one through sources like the local libraries (if you are lucky like me) or the internet (thought you may have to search a bit).
