If you've ever been fortunate enough to be in Texas in the springtime, and see field after field of the bluebonnets mentioned in the song, you'll be able to better understand the feeling of the lyrics. I lived there for 20 years, and used to drive from Houston up through Brenham toward College Station. Very beautiful drive.
