  • At salvation, a believer receives the "indwelling" of the Holy Spirit. Nothing more required to be a Christian. At the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, a believer receives the "infilling" of the Holy Spirit, or an over abundance for a powerful subsequent work in their life. This is my understanding of A/G doctrine. It's fine to disagree with doctrine but why the sarcasm and ridicule? If someone did you wrong I pray that reconciliation can happen. Thanks for listening!

  • i just got 1 question, does this group have anything to do with the wbc or anything like that. cuz there this girl i wanna get with and shes in this group but im not christian at all,

  • My reaction: Love the Lord with... and Love your brother.. What more? Anything less? I love the AG like I love all those who love Jesus. I am not ordained, but I am called all kinds of good names and very few mad ones. I don't care.

  • I am an AG Pastor for nearly 10 years now and I promise you will find anywhere in our beliefs that we take that standpoint. Because we don't believe that! Speaking in tongues is normative but not always what is seen. It is what was seen often in the New Testament.

    Yes there is a devil that deceives people to not follow God. That's why we are told to put on the full armor of God so we can stand firm against the schemes of the enemy.

  • AG Doctrinal statement #5- WE BELIEVE...Every Person Can Have Restored Fellowship with God Through 'Salvation' (trusting Christ, through faith and repentance, to be our personal Savior).

    AG Doctrinal statement #8- WE BELIEVE... The Initial Physical Evidence of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is ‘Speaking in Tongues,’ as experienced on the Day of Pentecost and referenced throughout Acts and the Epistles.

    These doctrinal statements articulate separate events within the life of a believer.

  • The bible speaks of false brethern.So be careful who you call brethern!

  • This is funny...I am a part of the Assemblies of God USA. Yes, Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a part of our 16 Fundamental Truths followed by the doctrine of Initial Physical Evidence.

    Baptism in the Holy Spirit and having the Holy Spirit with you are two different things. Nowhere does the A/G say that if you don't speak in tongues you aren't a Christian.

    Baptism in the Holy Spirit is an event that is subsequent to and separate FROM salvation. You must be saved to be baptized in the Holy Spirit.

  • @clworship how I see it - Speaking in tongues according to AOG is evidence of the Holy Spirit being present in ones life. The logic here then is that if one doesnt speak in tongues HS is not present. Even when I was a christian I thought this AOG F truth was quite ridiculous and divisive.

    My truth now is that everyone has a spirit from the creator that enables life - the very word spirit translated from Greek means breathe.

  • Being aware of spirit and the laws of life & nature is the kingdom of God spoken in the bible. everyone has spirit not everyone seeks awareness

  • the assemblies of God simply says that speaking in tongues is giving evidence of being baptized in the holy spirit. Paul says that not everyone will speak in tongues. Also, if you want something, do you just keep going or do you wait? You need to check you doctrine and your biblical doctrine. Christ does not tell us to attack our brothers in christ and this is clearly what you are doing. I'd like to know what makes you so much better than all of other pentecostal christians or anyoneforthatmatte

  • @pianoluvr04 "Christ does not tell us to attack our brothers" and what are you doing now ?

  • @ThirdProverb i'm simply saying making accusations like this is probably unwise when we should really focus on Jesus and winning souls for Christ

  • I'm new to aog, 6 months, and coincidentally just a few days ago for first time this was addressed from pulpit and they do believe a christian indwelt by the holy spirit can receive more, the baptizing. I still question tounges but God moves in this church. Thanks for posting.

  • The Assembly of God doesn't teach you have to speak in tongues to be saved. You don't have a clue what your talking about. Maybe you should know the facts before make a video that attacks Christians. Jesus said you will know his people by there love for each other. Your fruit tells it all any one needs to know. God have mercy on you

  • @allchevy78 one of the 16 doctrines of AOG is that the evidence of the HS is speaking in tongues. so if one does not speak in tongues, one is assumed to not have the HS.and how according to christian theology can one be a christian or saved without the holy spirit ? oh and God has had mercy on me. be well

  • @ModernDeism Sir, I understand you "think" you understand our doctrine. You do not, we have never taught that if you do not speak in tongues you are not saved, NEVER,EVER. The evidence you speak of is the Baptism of the holy spirit. We know that all true believers have they holy spirit, we stress the fruit of the spirit spoken of in Galatians as well and to me it is way more important than tongues, The apostle Paul said him self, do all speak in tongues? The answer is ofcourse NO!

  • @allchevy78 It is no wonder this world is in the shape it's in with so called Christians attacking others. ModernDeism & ThridProverb. You should spend more time on your knees than infront of the internet, Why attack other Christians with lie??????

    Proverbs 6:16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea seven are an abomination unto to....

    6:19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren

  • @allchevy78 OK let me get this straight - every believer has the Holy Spirit but their is this Baptism of Holy Spirit that gives you "more" of the HS which when you speak in tongues means you have this "more" and is the evidence. OK got it... I think.

    oh and thanks for the name calling - Peace

  • typically Pentecostals believe this way, with a small minority of Oneness believers who do not believe in the Trinity who do not accept those who have not spoken in tongues as being saved.

  • AOG do not teach that you have to be filled with the holy spirit to be saved.

  • What difference does categorizing a whole group of people under a belief really make? It's up to the individual to create and ask for his spiritual fruits. I am a former JW and I had a good heart. At the time, I never harmed anyone, didnt have sex before marriage, believed in Jesus and feared Yahweh. But members of other religions beared good fruits as well. So I stopped categorizing, as religion doesn't save. Your own personal belief followed by works in God does.

  • Hey this was interesting. Thanks for the article. Love videos like this.

  • im afraId your generalisation is incorrect, i grew up in AOG in Australia and they never ever said not speaking in tongues means you are not saved...

  • I don`t know about Australia but it is one of their 16 doctrines - that says speaking in tongues was evidence of the holy spirit. implies the logical conclusion. unless they are willing to say that one can be saved with out the presence of the hs in them.

  • yes evidence, but not soley the only way to know one has the Holy Spirit.

  • they do say that actually. But it is not encouraged.

  • In the book of Acts, speaking in tongues was a functional gift, allowing the faithful to speak ANY language to spread the word of GOD. The idea of speaking gibberish is ludicrous.

    The second point is that the book of acts refers to Christians who had not been baptised with the HS, they were not referred to as false Christians but merely Christians who were not baptised with the HS yet since no-one with authority had baptised them. Paul talked of the HS as a right of Christians, not a necessity.

  • @ThirdProverb What I heard in the AOG is that any believe has a measure of the Spirit (the seal of the Spirit), but that there is a difference between the measure of the Spirit at salvation and being baptized with the Holy Spirit. Baptists, for example, who don't speak in tongues but have faith would be accepted as true believers in the AOG.

  • Sorry my friend... my comments were against you whatsoever... just me rambling about the difference between the Spiritual realm where we connect with God in Spirit and Truth as opposed to the physical realm that many believers are stuck in.

    I was stuck in that physical realm for a long time, but now have been loosed from it and wish to see all humans get out of the "matrix" and into the freedom / truth found in the Spirit realm.

    Hard to put in words, hence my rambling... hehe

  • Cflockking....

    The Law was done away with??? Then why do so many Christians try to maintain their right standing with God according to the Law and their self-efforts to keep it???

    hehe... God's wisdom and truth is so simple, yet as Jesus predicted, the road is narrow that leads to life (KOG) (Romans 14:17) and so very few find it, while the majority gnash their teeth outside the Kingdom in the futility of trying to be good enough!

    Got ears? :)

    Hebrews 10:1

    Colossians 2:13-18

  • @Cflockking

    RE: We are to look toward the greater things which is love.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    LOVE is the doorway to hearing what the Spirit is saying!
    Many Christians are still stuck in Law based religion, which prevents them from truly living spiritually inside the Kingdom of God as defined by Romans 14:17 - but the few who focus on LOVE & realize that our self-efforts to change ourselves are futile are truly in the Kingdom of God and able to "hear" what the Spirit is saying! :)
  • 1 Corinthians 12:29-31
    1 Corinthians 14:21-23
    Eh, the church system is screwed up and humans can't set it straight because most Christians see everything from a physical / carnal lens... yet God is Spirit and His truth is spiritual.
    Most Christians read the Bible literally, yet time and time again we see the phrase "Let him with ears - hear what the Spirit is saying"....
    If everything could be taken literal just as we read it, then there's absolutely no reason for that phrase!
    2 cents
  • Thanks for sharing.
  • I go to AOG church hehe ! Our pastor believes you have to be born again to be a christian. He believes those that are born again but not baptised by THS are still christians. I have been going to this church for 20 years, but will not become a member because of this issue.
  • curious - what does "become a member" mean according to them. I went to a church where they had membership classes required to be official.
    Funny how the modern church is so far removed from the first "church"
    Read Pagan Christianity
  • Becoming a member in the way I say it means signing a membership form. (signifying you support the local AOGchurch) Nothing more. Maybe one reason the church is so diferent from the 1st century is that almost 2000 years have passed. I dont generalise with churches. They differ from area to area
  • You have to be a member in order to serve as a deacon or adviser or committee, to teach SS, or to vote on issues that only members are allowed to vote on like personnel or property issues. The template for the AG constitution is on the national site, every AG church has to adopt a similar constitution which spells all that out.
  • I am not AG but believe in the Holy Spirit and know that Satan is a real being. I am not sure how speaking in toungues has become the measuring stick since there are many gifts of the Spirit.
  • So if a self described atheist were to start speaking in tongues would those people say he has the holy spirit or is it just a psychotic episode?
  • lol - they would say you were mocking. and they probably be right.
  • @ThirdProverb
    Plus, the AOG denomination isn't the only one that believes this about tongues, so of course they would accept other speakers in tongues.
  • I would say in churches it is the mob mentality that creates the speaking in tongues (which are not recognizable languages, btw). Anyone can talk like a baby. Also, if an athiest suddenly started talking in tongues I'm pretty sure other athiest would think he/she was either joking or had some sort of mental problem.
  • I believe the Orthodox church in Greece is way closer to true Christianity than Pentecostalism.
  • I've been a "member" of an AG church for years.
    I still love ya though... pretty much everything you say is true here. I don't have an AG banner hanging in my room or anything like that (although I think my pastor might) ... it's just a place to fellowship with my extended Christian family.
  • For some reason it is hard to believe you are an AG member by some of your comments.
    But thank you for the confirmation of my statements.
    side note...where is Don ? He closed his account AGAIN ! (probably out of humiliation)
