I believe that procrastinators are definitely nurtured to be just that. My parents in an odd elegant manner always got things finished the last minute. Course now, they get ticked off when I don't get things done on time. Go figure. They do it, then I do, and who gets the blame? It is nurtured, conditioned, and all that good stuff. This is coming from a partial - unschooler(been to a university) So, is it really avoidable in life...no, I don't believe so. But that's just my opinion.
Anyway. My mother absolutely refused to allow me to try unschooling because I wouldn't get a diploma and hence couldn't get into a good college and hence couldn't get a good job. Certainly that can't be true?
@KyleKyleton oh it's totally not true! harvard and mit don't even require a diploma, tell your mom that. you can print one off and have your parents sign it, you can get your ged, you can forego one and take some community college courses and then transfer to college. diplomas aren't as important as like a good portfolio and transcript--both of which you can make for yourself. some good books are College Without High School, What About College by cafi cohen. but yeah it's possible!
I bet buddhist monks procrastinate less than anybody.

I normally procrastinate when my parents tell me to do something in an act of resilience or when I am bored.
