I don't think whoever made this understood the characters very well. it seems they've taken one characteristic or trait and hightened it. Shuichi just seems plain wierd, yet in the manga you could see he was gradually breaking down because of his father and the curse of the spiral. they've made kirie seem like an idiot aswell when really she's just innocent and abit naive- which is why I liked her. And I don't know where they got the bitch w/ the exploding cigerette from.

@taylorgoff235 This is based on a manga written in 2000, sooo silent hill could be an influence, but i don't think so, Junji Ito has been writing stuff similar to this since the early 80's i think. Also air raid sirens are significant in Japanese culture, theirs even an island that has so much sulfur they have to signal the residents with... air raid sirens... to put on their gas masks whenever the sulfur levels rise enough. That's still going on today.
