The second verse "pleased to bits, can't believe you came, we've relived it both, over time and time again" always reminds me of Jesus story about the Prodigal Son. I imagine when the Father first lays eyes on his prodigal son, that the vision is burned into his memory as he focused on the joy of his sons return not the punishment for his sins. This song always makes me cry. Mr O'Sullivan is a great song writer. Up there with St Mark Heard and The Beatles. We will listen time and time again.

This man is a true song man, a troubadour, like a Sondheim, Rogers and Hammerstein, a man who knows what music really is all about. I believe that after Mick Jagger is long forgotten O'Sullivan will be rediscovered as I just rediscovered him and was thrilled. God bless you Gilbert Ray O'Sullivan.

went to see him last night in Glasgow - not only was he phenomenal but his band were superb - one of the most underrated artists in the world. When i was 16 i got a record player with only 6 records, this was one of them and i played it and played it, the neighbours must have been freaking out!

This song is a true romantic gem. When 'in the morning' starts and then later the descending bassline, its so very straight to the heart but without sentimentality. It's lightly stirring up the finer emotions. What an artistic player of the human feelings. And the lyrics fitiing like a hand in a glove. Excellent.

One of the best singers of all time. In 1987 having tried for the good part of a decade, I finally got his greatest hits C.D. I was so happy to get it after trying dozens of places in several countries including Australia, Japan, The U.S. and all over the U.K. Oh how times have changed with downloads etc. you can get any record you want now. I hear he will be performing at Glastonbury and has a new single out called "Never Say Die" it's great but not on YouTube yet as of 27th June 2008

Doesn't this guy write some great lyrics, nothing repetitive like most song-writers nowadays. These songs bring back so many memories of my youth. I used to have all his albums. Is he touring down south this year, and if so, can anyone tell me where and when.

I've been to see Gilbert (Ray) here in Dublin last night (Friday) and he played to a sell out audience and rocked the joint,just spoke to some friend tonight who went to see the show (Sat) and their feed-back was wonderful,i've seen him several time now and he's never once disappointed me.
