I think the "Racial and Religious Hatred Act 2006" (UK law) is a big obstacle to freedom of speech in the UK. It has a chilling effect on people who wish to criticise/oppose Islam publicly because there is the possibility that criticism/opposition of the religion is interpreted as inciting hatred of it's adherents. This has happened at least twice recently. There was a 15 year old girl arrested for burning a koran and filming it. And six men arrested in a different occurrence for

A science fiction writer wrote a fantasy book (set millions of years ago, had aliens and stuff in it) and it did really badly. He then decided to mark it as 'historical fact' and turn it into a religion. Trouble is, you don't find out a lot of the crazy stuff at first, because you have to pay to increase in 'rank' and they gradually tell you more. By the time you are a high rank they practically own you, have brainwashed you, and taken all your money.
