George Martin is so classy. The way he talks, the way he remembers every little piece about the songs, the way he slides those little controls naturally and with pride...
The day it came out I was about 15 and the local FM station played it uninterrupted start to finish. It was so Epic no commercials were allowed to sully the effect on the listener. My Band mates and I listened intently, transfixed, in Awe. And, as you said, we were changed forever.
I think you could ask most baby boomers where they were when they first heard it and they'd have a similar story to tell
I remember the day I heard the album, just after its release (I bought everything the boys did on release) I was in North Wales. It was so new, so different so mind blowing in its concept. I sat on the floor smoking a cigarette and I looked at my pal and shook my head. "They've gone too far this time..." I said. Next day I played it all day, "...fab, brilliant, wow, fab, it's psychedelic and fab." I and everyone I knew went bonkers about it. It changed... well everything. Thank you boys.
George Martin, a Spitfire pilot... I can imagine that. I wish they would release this so that WE can do the re-mix. All the amazing tracks, available, and we can get to push the levers.

Every Beatles documentary I see, when George plays that take of A Day in the Life, it makes me want to cry. I don't know why.

In an older doco George Martin said that John asked for the orchestral climax but by this video it had become "they" wanted it......??

it's gotta be hard listening to John's voice in A Day In The Life. It's just so emotional. You can see that George is really effected by it.

Amazing band, album, era and documentary.
This last commentary of Paul's is fantastic.
It proves that the worst enemy is the quiet one.
Having a card up the sleeve is a great sensation.
Paul says: Checkmate.
