Not all black people run from cops. I don't care for the way the judicial or law enforcement system in America proceeds sometimes but there is no reason to run as I'm not doing anything wrong. This statement makes it seem like every black man is a criminal because only a criminal needs to flee from the law. It's funny how we as black people think that we should get the "hook up" anytime there is a black person in power. We had no expectations of any white president, they mistreat us and it's ok. But when we get a black president, we forget that he still represents all of the US not just black people. President Obama has tried to help middle class and poor people more than any other president and that's where most of us fit in. We treat him like they do because of the color of his skin.

...so...yes...when u get on the air and say the kind of statement like Dyson said (which i believe was an "attempt" to use a 'sociological' humor)...it can without question be deemed as inappropriate. It goes to what "some" will call the ole "double standard" argument. Dyson said what he said about "a black running from cops" from the general viewpoint that there is indeed a historical mistrust (hence fear...hence "running") within black communities and law enforcement.

Policemen need to WALK the beat again, become part of neighborhoods again, know the people & the community well. Crime went up when the police left the sidewalks and began riding the streets. And distrust grew as everyone became strangers and misunderstanding led to violence and deeper divisions. Familiarity may breed contempt but the unknown are all suspect. Racial profiling proliferates in that atmosphere. The Gates incident NEVER would have occurred if a cop walked that beat every day.

My point is that we all naturally and immediately suspect and fear the unknown. If there were cops walking the blocks and everybody knew the officer and the officer knew everybody, well the whole atmosphere changes.

Obama as president can't treat one race over the other but he has given a open door for others to cease the problem. Again Obama cannot do EVERYTHING for us.

He can't but fact of the matter is this man shows no interest in the many discrimination happening amongst the country. He holds the most influential position on earth & yet stands mute on subject matters containing race. Since black people are the overwhelming majority of his support base we DO DESERVE HIS ATTENTION. But if we are only going as far as to post complaining videos and comments here on youtube, then how much attention are we really trying to obtain. Actions always speak louder than words.
