I always crack up laughing everytime I hear that harmonious song! I actually like Sunako being chibi, she's awesome. I think it's symbolism because as she defines herself as not "pretty" and I think it's cool that when she's just regular Sunako she's chibi when she's angry or serious or dressed up as a lady she becomes the adult Sunako.

it's a LOT better than Kimi Ni Todoke... but this is more on the comedy side than romance.. but still you can't help but giggle at every romantic moments in the series ^_^ i suggest you read the manga though coz it's a lot funnier and romantic ^_^

What a co-incidence! U happened to reply when I just began reading the The Wallflower, the manga. No offence intended but I disagree with you. I don't think it's better than Kimi Ni Todoke...coz in KnT, the girl is actually beautiful, but is misunderstood by her classmates. But most importantly, Sawako makes an effort to change, wishes to help the ones around her and she doesn't like weird stuff like skulls and horror flicks. Sawako is more real and relatable

Furthermore, Sunako doesn't try, but that's part of her unique character (she doesn't want to be beautiful, she likes the way she is). Although as the series progresses her attitude alters a bit. Sawako doesn't like the way she is, thus, she tries her hardest to change. So I don't think these two series are comparable, because of the personality differences of the "heroines."

Sawako is a victim of the social stigma of anxiety and inability to befriend peopele while Sunako turns gloomy, that too because a guy called her ugly....?? that's stupid not unique. I would rather like a "heroine" who despite knowing  her short comings, attempts to change the world around her rather than someone who makes no effort and is an annoyance for others

If you remember (or maybe you haven't reached that part in the manga) Sunako says that at first she got depressed, and tried not trying to be beautiful (lol sounds weird) but THEN after she tried it, she LIKED it and therefore decided to remain the way she was. And, I wasn't saying one was better than the other, I was simply saying that the series aren't really comparable.

It's sort of a representation of how the world sees sunako. She's chibi when she's feeling gloomy, creepy, moody, etc.; and she's pretty when she's feeling bold or confident. It's a visual metaphor basically.
