This is, without doubt, the best Alice in Wonderland movie. The cast is absolutely brilliant. Martin Short, Ben Kingsley and Christopher Lloyd in one movie?!
Although I like most of Tim Burton's movies, his version of Alice was simply terrible. Way too Hollywood-ish.
i love this version the most i think or the cartoon version which was the first version :) the new alice in wonderland has lost the original plot which sucks :(
why are ppl talkin about tim burton's alice and avatar this video is so not either of them so it doesn't matter and i loved both of those movies and this one so...
Been watching "Alice" trailer and listening to song "WONDERLAND" by band "Pullman Standard" at Hollywoodswan90 on YouTube is DEFINITELY worth the listening!
I totally agree. Martin Short will play a better Mad Hatter than Johnny Dep will. I just think Tim Burton has overused Johnny Dep in so many movies. Martin short actually looks loony enough to be the Mad Hatter and he's perfect for the character. Johhny Dep, not so much.
I pretty much like every alice movie I've seen. I think this and the syfy one are great and the Tim Burton one will probably be good too. (Johnny Depp <3)
The great thing about Lewis Carroll is that his stories could be interpreted as different things or meanings. Some say that there was no meaning behind Alice in Wonderland, and there are others who say that Alice in Wonderland was written because in the Victorian Age, children were expected to be little adults, and Carroll disagreed.
It's up to your interpretation, and frankly, this is my favorite one. Boo Tim Burton :D
Contrariwise, I myself can enjoy the books and their cinema-made counterparts.
I'm not telling anyone what to think, and I don't expect you to be offended; it's simply my opinion. Tim Burton's 'version' can be very enjoyable on its own and that's why I still look forward to it. Even knowing that it will not be at all like the books written by Dodgeson/Carroll.
Oh, and this has always (and probably will always) be my favorite film adaption of Alice. Martin Short just made the Hatter for me.
I agree that movies and books can be enjoyed separately, but I do believe that Tim Burton has become an uncreative and haggard piece of Hot Topic filth...If he actually produced something worthwhile recently I would look forward to the film. Following Corpse Bride, he just went downhill into a spiral of what I unimaginative drivel.
This is also my favorite adaptation of the books. :)
@Alt0233 After Corpse Bride? He's made only TWO MOVIES since Corpse Bride, one of which I'd call among his best work (Sweeney Todd). I haven't seen the second, since it came out less than two days ago. I don't think he's as fresh as he once was, and his work was may more consistent in the early 90's than it is now, but that doesn't make a lot of sense.
@Alt0233 Uh yeah.....thats why your comment go bumped down two ratings Id think. You can believe what you want...But Tim Burton's Alice beat out Avatar's record as a weekend blockbuster. Dont know what that is? Then look it up...jackass.

Hey faggot, just because a bunch of retarded Hot Topic mall goths see a movie, doesn't mean it's good. Avatar was shit too. ;) I saw Alice in Wonderland, and the theatre was resoundingly disappointed. Tim Burton is a haggard and unoriginal sellout; anyone who likes this filth needs to shoot themselves.
sure it wasnt as good as everyone thought it was going to be. but i loved it, and i love tim burtons moviews. i went into that theatre without amazingly high expectations and i wasnt let down
But nothing beats the books, no-one will ever interperate Alice in Wonderland as well as Lewis Carroll.
I'm also one of the few people who doesn't think Tim Burton's adaption looks good- it has nothing- NOTHING to do with the books... he just took Dodgson's characters and made some sort of "sequel" to the two books... one that I dont think Dodgson would acctually aprove of. Thats my personal opinion anyway.
I agree with you for the most part. No one will ever interpret Alice in Wonderland like Lewis Carroll.
I also do agree that Tim Burton's film will simply take the characters Carroll created and putting them into a sequel that has almost nothing to do with the books at all. But really, who doesn't do that nowadays?
Why Disney itself has always done this in general. They take classic stories and make what they can of it. Other companies do the same thing as well.
I know what your saying 100%, and I think most people will adore it, but I just think that so many people will believe that Burtons follows the real story, many people already think Disney invented Alice.
I think it is a shame people forget where the original stories come from:ex' brothers grimm. No-ones fault, I just think its a shame
Burton's isnt visualy my cup of tea anyway:I love the rest of his work, but theres something about this one that doesnt feel like wonderland to me personaly
with Kate Beckinsale; a tv movie from 1998. (You can find it also on youtube)
Also this version follow much much more the essence of the book than the Disney movie does. I can't wait too see the new, live-action Disney-version; a all-new story, a sequel from Tim Burton.
I've read the first draft of Linda Woolverton's sript, and even it's a completly new story, it's pretty good.
lol! I have always loved the whole Madhatter tea party scene when I was little. But now that I know that Madhatter is Martin Short I love it 100 times more!!! :D

I disagree. Disney's version is waaay better. This version tries 2 stick 2 the original script. But what works on the printed page may not work so well spoken on the screen and I think this movie suffers because of that. Disney exercised their masterful storytelling skills and made changes and cuts to the story resulting in a tighter movie with no dead zones. Disney's movie is delightful all through, this one is boring in lots of places. e.g., Tweedle Dee & the Oysters are better in Disney.
Contrairwise. Disney's version has nothing, really nothing to do with the orginal books "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass and What Alice found there".
Disney's version maybe delightful for you, but the only thing what this movie has to do with the original is just the title.
This version is'nt boring in any way, read the books! It's Carroll's humour, not Disney ones....
Adler36: You're off base to say Disney is so far from the book. It features the same plot, the same characters, the same setting, the same incidents, much of the same dialog. This movie with Martin Short will never become a classic, as are the book and the Disney movie. Another example is the tree just before T party: "Which way will you go..." That scene may be in the book, but it doesn't work in the movie and is pointless. It doesn't figure in the plot, it doesn't introduce a character,

it tells us nothing about Alice or anything at all. The song is not good, it's too simple, it's a lousy melody, and it's sung off key. Another example is the mushroom toking caterpillar. In this movie that scene is pretty lame, but in the Disney movie that scene is funny. Another example is the "Beautiful soup" with Gene Wilder, it's lame. Many scenes in this movie fall flat, but the Disney movie is 100% on target.
If you think so. I also love the Disney movie very much, but as a "Lewis Carroll fan", I prefer this version, because it had just more of Lewis Carroll's kind of humour. (Even this version stole the ideas with the caterpillar turning into a butterfly and the sun and moon from the Disney Movie) I'm also a Disney Fan, and yes, it's funny, especially for kids, but as Walt Disney himself say: "Alice has no heart."
