@MagicSteve46 Depends...like for me, I learn Mozart pieces faster than Brahms or Beethoven because I'm not good with big crazy chords. I think sightreading this must've been peanuts for him. Maybe a couple of weeks with 4+ hours of practice a day.
@MagicSteve46 Depends Many hours to get note perfect and to the spped with no mistakes. Impossible to tell in days because of how long he has practiced it. If soully focused on this piece, fo say 4 hours a day, maybe 2 weeks although a piece is never perfect as everybody has their own opinion on how it should be played in termsof expression
This is a great performance of this piece - I worked on it in college, but would never have dreamed of performing it. I don't have the technical facility that Ilya has. Many of the comments show that the people posting are ignorant about piano and classical music - a common problem in America that is just being encouraged by budget cuts and the fact that many administrators and community members think music class is just about entertainment rather than education.
I am one year old (yes, twelve months). This version is very admirable. I must admit that my tempo is a little slower, but this is due to my early stage of physiological development, not artistic choice or for want of practise.

Mine says 138, which makes it even that much closer. This is an outstanding performance. I love how people that can't play it at 104 say this is too fast.
I frankly don't care about sniveling: the discovery of this music, by whoever takes the time to transform it's intricacies and humor and delight, is a revelation. Thank you Papa.
Surely the first movement is too fast. Also, I thought it was a cardinal sin to turn mordents into triplets. Russians do tend to lack soul in their playing, it is all flash in the pan and this guy is no exception.
This made my heart do a waltz <3

@mxgirl918 It took me like four months XD (and still not perfect) i need to practice more jajaja

@mxgirl918 Do you prefer Mozart or Haydn?
marianomanto 3 months ago
@marianomanto No preference really. They're both so similar in style that I often unintentionally lump them together.

@MagicSteve46 to learn probably a week, to perfect (but music can never be perfect) to his standard probably 2 months

The first movement was a bit too fast, but overall, it was a very good interpretation of the piece.

@huangye2008 My sheet music says "allegro con brio" with metronome markings suggesting 132 bpm...which is pretty darn close to what the tempo is here
