I've been playing for awhile and I appreciate SRV's style. He could make a 5 note scale sound like a complex piece of art. I try to play like him but have discovered that I'm not him and put my own twist on things and that's what he has done with his style, putting bits and pieces of his idols in his playing. You don't have to be a classically trained musician to make beautiful music.
Omg... inner ear drum explosion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love Stevie, and was left with a "WoW" impression after hearing this. It's so real!!!!!! OMG!@#!@$!!!!
Stevie never seems to surprise me. track is new to me. thanks so much for putting this rare jam out there. any place you know i can get it? does anybody know the title to this song? thanks again for posting this!
cant mistake his sound i can even hear it when he playedwith david bowie. lets dance , china girl, modern love and others. have a listen . but dont think he was ever thanked or mentioned in the album credits i could be wrong. but i cant remember the last time that ever happened.
@creat3d No , I only do acid when I am at work ( I fly 737s for KLM) Stevie Ray Llewellyn-Vaughan went to my School in Cardiff. He moved to Texas in the 60`s because he wanted to be free to be a Muslim . He felt that America would be more tolerant. His hero , Tom Jones inspired him to play the blues.
Oh man this is just so awesome but at the same time makes me sad to know i will never be that good, it is more then practicing he was just born to play the guitar and the blues for me the greatest there ever will be LEGEND
Stevie's playing is just insane. Anyone written/tabbed this out, there are some lovely licks in that solo :), such a shame he died young, and no offence but who did we get instead?.....Eric Clapton just doesn't do it for. :(
@SRV4evr yeah and u never know that knew shit u hearing might be my playing cause we always sounded familiar anyways i was playing that style before i ever heard of him anyway im the boy could play one advantage he had over me was he never broke his hand like i did anyways i met him in montreal and i told him to hook up buddy guy and all them old cats they needed help he said he would i told him if he didnt i would cause im coming up the ladder i asked him too jam but he had to go to the studio

I think this was late 1989...and I believe I have this on tape somewhere. It's from a Timothy White interview with Stevie in which Stevie talks about influences and then illustrates with the guitar. Chris is playing "guitar case" on this too. Killer...
Class down the line bad ass blues. Dont mess with Texas is all over it. Their is far too many distractions in the life we find our selves in, because of that the players ability suffers. Both these guys done nothing but live breath and sleep guitar, they made it to one level and stepped it up to the next, they never stopped getting better. Most of the good guys you see now made it to a point and felt it was good enough and stopped right there. Musics changed a lot too since then. Its a pity.
This recording is so Stevie doing what he does best, being a black man!! I knew him since 72 when he Moved to Austin with Glenda his girl and that is what he is singing about ! The Good Texan~ RIP my Brother
dude listen to Hendrix's 'midnight' jam its amazing... i mean when i think of a jam i think of improvised rythems and stuff.... in other words soulful stuff....
codehendrix you are beyond stupid... it's stevie ray vaughan not pabletelli.... and btw stevie is one of the kings of feel (the others being bb king and hendrix)
This was taken from a 1989 "Rockline" radio interview with SRV and Whipper. They were in Dallas and BC (radio host) conducted the phone interview from LA. They were promoting the "In Step" album. I have a tape of it that I recorded the night it happened on the radio.
Actually, this was recorded in the studio one night. You can hear that Chris Layton is actually just playing percussion with drum sticks on a phone book, and Tommy didn't have his bass with him or wasn't there.
@OwenC56 there is a video of double trouble doing an interview, it is just chris taping sticks on a stoll seat and tommy just making bass sounds into the microphone.
just google "double trouble interview" and go to googel video, the one that bgins you to vidivodo.. it is awesome
sounds and looks great I've heard this before but can't remember what it's from Can you provide some info as far as when and where this is from? thanks
