@DarkDain Remember not everyone is a bender and can control the elements, for those that do, it doesn't guarantee a victory. There are four elements each with their own strengths and weaknesses. Fire benders are powerful but if there trapped in a block of ice, or crushed by a boulder, their not much help, hence the use of war machines. For those who are not benders, swords and bows and are the way to go.

@piplup6 No. Their youngest son Tenzin is an airbender, but I don't know if it's been revealed if their other children were benders. Only the avatar can bend multiple elements, so none of their children would have been able to bend both air and water. Also, having benders for parents isn't a guarantee that the kids will have the ability. Ursa was descended from Avatar Roku himself but wasn't a bender while Katara came from a family of non-benders.

there was plenty of material for book 4 and in my view they had to at least write a longer book three. It is so evident that things were rushed. the end was very disappointing. the day when the firenation is at its weakest they defeated the revels and the day they were at their strongest they were somehow defeated...? and why Azula had to go mad...? and why would the firenation follow Zuko...? and why didn't they invovled Iroh more...? and is the avatar cycle broken once Aang dies...?

they could have expanded the story a little more. Maybe it was just me but the second volume of book 3

(fire) was rushed. the first have was fine but if you think of it, it took Aang the entire book 1 and a bit of book 2 to master waterbending, and it took him have of more than half of book two and a bit of book three to marster earth. And yet the writers rushed things so much that Aang mastered fire in a couple of episodes and only an episode to master mindbending.

the three o real problems, IMO, are azula going crazy, toph becomimg 'useless' and the very small participation of zuko in the main crew

What about the fact that there's no Airbenders anymore? When Ang dies, the next 3 avatars won't learn airbending, then the furth one after Ang will be born into.. The non-existant air nomads? It leaves you wondering what happens in 300-600 years? No avatar? Well then what stopping someone from taking over the world? That was my biggest thing about how they left it. The whole world dies in 400 years.

Ang can't teach airbending to anyone. You're either an airbender or you're not. And the next avatar is born only when the previous one dies. So that being said, Ang won't be alive. And it's stated that Appa was the last flying bison, just as Ang is the last airbender. Kind of sucks.

@Saimeren Well, they rectify that by having a son of Aang inherit the ability to airbend and teach it to the next avatar. Supposedly though, this would make all future airbenders descendants of Aang and Katara. And I could see them discovering flying bison in the next show
