  • Merveilleux.Merci beaucoup .

  • where do u get the music?

  • quelle justesse magnifique !

  • that's not tense, he's only thin, not as fat as you

  • maravilloso!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • u r owsome..

  • its PERFECTLY in tune. and amazing speed. yall hatin'

  • This is fucken amazing. This dude blasts away professional senior cellists if you ask me.

    FLAWLESS VICTORY MOMOMOMOMONSTER KILL

  • That's actually one of the most impressive cello solo's i've ever seen.

  • he's doing REALLY well, BUT... he rushes passages that he feels more comfortable with (which is commom), he seems advanced so we know he should be able to works on that...

  • @dhgcello0215 Yeah nobody likes people like me. Yeah i speak what i think it is a free site so everybody's opinion is free . And to end all of this nonsence go watch Navarra's video of how to how the bow . He says that the pinkey is the most important finger .

  • Your posture, your intonation, your playing speed, your overall performance, all incredible! I wish I could play Elfentanz. You sir, are an incredible cellist!

  • I don't think that he's tensed!!!! he's just a thin boy! this is why you can see his muscles in a "tensed" way!!!

he is playing it in an excellent way!! just like the famous professional cellist ... wish I can be like him one day XD

    good luck boy!

  • How long playing ?

  • Oh for how to hold the bow

you should never -NEVER- take fingers off the bow makes you lose control of the bow. Speed like this and even greater such as Rostropovich's can be uptained with all the 4 fingers on the bow you just need a relaxed hand and a well good view of the mechanichs of your right arm how much wrist and how much elbow . Never should be a cellist to use only his wrist the wrist is only a mechanism that drives a bigger mechanism it helps it to move more smoothly .

  • @AnomandurReik If this works for him, who are you to tell him not to do it? It's the sound that is the most important! You talk about Rostropovitch, he sometimes made a fist with his right hand, if he thought it was necessary.

  • @AnomandurReik

I started playing the cello when I was 3, and I've played for 24 years. I teach it now. I assure you, anyone playing Elfentanz this well knows how to hold their $^%& bow.

"you should never -NEVER- take fingers off the bow makes you lose control of the bow."

    - See, this is the kind of advice cellists get from people who don't. play. cello.

You can't seriously be simultaneously A) comparing this kid to Rostropovich and B) trying to correct his bow-hold.

    You just can't.

  • "I have seen several other cellists play this song and none sounded as well put-together as yours! Well done, friend! " With all due respects there are much more fine renditions of this piece you might say it is stupid to make such a comparisson but whatvere you say man you cannot deny rostropovich's brilliance in this piece the man was a god ...truly.... with the speed and acurasy he plays it puts everyone else to shame .

  • @AnomandurReik

also, I couldn't help noticing that you misspelled the word "accuracy" which, I have to admit, gave me a bit of a laugh.

  • It is funny seeing all these comments saying, 'he's tense blah blah blah. his right arm is too tense...' Do you know how flipping hard it is to play a song that fast all the way through with notes like these?!? Oliver, you did awesome! I have seen several other cellists play this song and none sounded as well put-together as yours! Well done, friend!

  • @geoskull3495 ironically it would actually be easier if he wasn't tense, and tension like that is never healthy, you can get tendinitis and crap. Hell, if he learnt to relax, he would even be faster, because if you're relaxed your muscles aren't opposing each other! But yes, he did great in this video. :D

  • God everyone is saying your to tense but this is BY FAR the best version I've heard! Keep it up!!!! :)

  • great video!

  • 0_0

  • Congratulations from BCN. Is the result of a strong work, and after years we can listen you. I'm happy to listen you.

  • :O

Hes doing good but he isn't holding the bow right just won bad comment :S but amazing

  • @fat21s The bow grip he is demonstrating is called, 'choking.' It's most often seen while fiddling. The notes are too fast to go through the whole song with the bow held all the way in the back near the frog. While 'choking the bow' The hand is actually holding right on the balancing point. If you play a stringed instrument, try it out, it's actually really helpful in these fast song cases!

  • In a sense, I think there's a general consensus that you should just work on relaxing. You're obviously sturdy in your technique, so just relax and let the music happen now. Let go. At this point for you it seems a lot less about the notes.

  • Well you can't deny it's really clean and you can hear everything . Congrats on that . Now if you can add some music to the piece would be good it's a bit dry . Also that pinkey sticking out not good for you man if it didn't have any purpose we wouldn't use it in cello ,would we ,and also causes additional tension in the hand . More forte playing too quiet the piano will dominate you . Oh and eat something your all bones, probably weigh 80 pounds...

  • WOW

  • impressive!

  • (o.O) LOL :D grat :)

  • Extraordinary !

  • What's to say. Please just keep it up, All who play this piece know how amazing it is to hear so few "questionables". These three minutes of elves dance can be pretty harrowing nightmare So good to see you dance instead of trip, or worse tiptoe. Your sautillé is indeed impressive, but those bars with real shaping were thrilling. Hope you find more of them. Thanks for sharing, from your Prairie Fan No. 314

  • Well done.... :D as ever!

  • oh wow...i love your videos. this one takes the top haha. man i wish i had a fast pair of hands like yours. :D

  • Very, very good. But it seems like that you are too tensed. Try to play the cello as if it would be a part of your daily wellness programme. Then you get a really different access to the music. Perhaps this your last weakness to be ready to enter the stages of the world :)

  • Oh, I watched some videos of yours and I have to deny what I said. But in this video it looks as if you use your right-arm-muscles a bit too much.

  • @Pricher1991

What? That's what you have to say to this kid?

One of the best renditions of this song I've heard on youtube and the only comments with thumbs up are the ones telling him his right arm is too tense?

    Who are you people?

  • Does he still play the piano or did he choose cello? :-)

  • @Appassionata90, Yes, he plays piano and starting to conduct too.
